-Story Start-

The Biheiril Kingdom.

Situated in the Northeastern section of the Central Continent, it is sandwiched between a mountain range and borders the off-shore Ogre Island and the more distant Heaven Continent.

To the south of the Kingdom, a small opening in the Red Dragon Mountain Range has allowed for a road to be constructed; leading directly to the Kingdoms in the Strife Zone.

Our focus shifts to the Capital City of the Biheiril Kingdom:

First City.

---------------------------

It is a city unlike any other in the world under the light of the sun, second only in its artistic grandeur to the Holy City of Milishion.

A walled city with innumerable buildings, its architecture resembled ancient Rome.

Nevertheless, a few landmarks stood out:

A vast castle situated on the edge of a small mountain that overlooked the walled City, with a gigantic colosseum attached to it just below.

What appeared to be mansions or sections of the City that had been burnt and crumbled, and no effort in restoration seemed to have been made.

As well as a mind-boggling number of small arenas or amphitheaters that decorate the city landscape.

Numerous markets and stalls settled in the city, as the city was as loud as it was grand and populated.

The sounds of steel meeting steel from the arenas, loud bartering, and smelting of metals from the forges all reverberated in the busy racket of Biheiril's First City.

This city is quite a jarring sight for many would-be visitors, merchants, and tourists visiting for the first time.

So messy, so loud, and yet so prosperous.

One could not really make heads or tails of this city so enthusiastic with combat and art.

But, for one girl, this was her... reluctant home.

---------------------------

One of the many busy food markets in First City was as noisy as always.

A narrow street, filled to the brim with Humans and Orcs eager to fill their bellies or simply to procure food for their households.

"Orc Island Olives! Only for 2 Biheiril Copper Coins per unit! A fifty percent discount for Fighting Pit Intermediate and above!" A stall owner with a bunch of olives in a barrel called out loudly, his gruff voice reverberated with expertise; one might think he'd lose his voice but he had been doing this business for years.

A tiny girl's ears perked up upon hearing of the discount, but she shook her head upon the realization that it was not what she came here to get.

With hurried steps, the shoulder-length auburn-haired girl who appeared to be around 10 years of age expertly snuck between the legs of the large orcs and adults that filled the street to the brim.

Eventually, through much effort, she arrived in front of a stall that sold local pastries and cakes.

"Livia... another cake for the up-and-coming star, is it~?" The young woman who worked the stand smiled warmly at the now-named girl.

Livia's freckled smile was broad as she nodded, "Yes! Brother had risen to the Fighting Pit Noble yesterday!" She showcased the exclusive badge that signified his rank.

With a momentary pitying look that Livia hadn't missed, the shop owner smiled warmly once again, patting the girl on the head, "That's amazing news! He's only getting better each day, at this rate he might just confirm the rumors of his title."

Livia's eyes narrowed for a second, as she innocently inquired with a tilted head, "And Queen Marcella will notice him?" A hopeful tone left her lips.

She nodded, "Just a little longer, little one. Our Queen isn't one to leave out talent... but, onto business, pick anything you want. Today it's on me!" The young woman gestured proudly at her chest.

"Really?!" Livia was bouncing in place from excitement.

"Mhm! Just pick anything... not the expensive variety though, hehe~"

---------------------------

With a smile as if she had just won the jackpot in one of those games the adventurers liked to play in the Guild, Livia tightly held onto the Mustaceum she had been gifted - a cake flavored with grape juice and bay leaves for aroma.

With a spring in her step, she hurriedly passed through the narrow and people-dense streets and markets - passing by an Arena or two on her outing.

Eventually, she reached streets with individuals of varying ages, their clothing a note dirtier than those in the markets as well as a rather foul stench permeating the surroundings.

Eyes followed her wherever she went, a clear disdain and envy in those glares; yet a clear hesitance passed through their expressions - as if it were a foolish notion to target her.

Ignoring those stares, Livia passed through a little crevice nestled between two beautiful buildings given the city's regular architecture - nevertheless, they were run down and damaged.

Lifting her head, she noticed a familiar open window on the second floor.

With an impressive feat of dexterity and balance, she climbed the wall with little to stand or grab onto whilst holding a cake with one hand.

Peeking her little head through the window, she noted the familiar room and her nose scrunched up at the nasty smell of it.

With an exasperated sigh, she entered and made sure to sneak around quietly - lest she awaken the personage that slept in one of the two beds of the tiny clustered room.

Slowly, she lowered the cake on the messy desk, making sure to wipe away the bloody shortsword and knives left on it.

Doing it as quietly as she could, she still was caught red-handed by a tired voice, "Livia. I told you that we can't waste our gold on such things."

Letting out a surprised yelp, Livia backed off and glared at the rising figure from the bed.

Her one and only, beloved...

"And do what? Buy me another of these flowery dresses?" She gestured at her neat and clean dress.

"My happiness is your happiness brother! Besides, I got this one for free~!" She flashed a cheeky smile.

Blinking, the auburn-headed thirteen-year-old sighed with pure exasperation, nevertheless, a tiny smile formed on his face as he rose from his bed to sit down, "Then, this is a celebration of my advancement?"

Livia smiled broadly, "Mhm! With this, we're one step closer..."

At that reminder, the girl smiled sadly, "I can't fight, so, at least, let me do this..."

Patting her head reassuringly, her brother smiled lightly, "You being healthy and happy is more than enough... But I can't eat all of this." He gestured at the large cake, a slight grimace crossed his expression as he grabbed onto his bandaged chest.

Folding her hands in slight worry and irritation, Livia complained bitterly, "At the very least, Master could have paid for Healing your injuries... and he wants you to fight so soon?"

With a look of bitter acceptance, her brother nodded, "It's nothing I can't handle... I need to use the momentum to rise as high as I possibly can, that way..."

"Yeah..." Livia agreed and tearfully hugged her brother tightly, who could only grit his teeth as he endured the pain from her carelessly pressing his injuries.

Detaching themselves from the hug, the little sister suggested, "Wanna share it with the Mudfoot Party and Felix?"

Humming for a moment, her brother considered it for a moment, only nodding once in a slightly hesitant agreement, "...Fine, I need to move around anyway."

"Hehe~" Livia could only giggle at her brother's hesitance.

---------------------------

First City had many Adventurer Guilds' branches, in contrast to many other Capital cities that held one or two at most.

The reason being - that this specific Kingdom was the most Adventurer Friendly in terms of privileges, tasks needed, variety of monsters that are not too dangerous, etc...

More aptly put - Adventurer's Paradise.

It is for this very reason, that every single branch of the Guild was filled to the brim and buzzing with activity, even, for example, the branch located in the more impoverished section of First City:

The building stood out in stark contrast to the nonstandard architecture characteristic of the Biheiril Kingdom.

Even from outside, the rambunctious noise of cheers and laughter reverberated from its walls.

"Are you certain they're not out of the city with an active request?" The big brother inquired with a torn shirt and bandaged chest, a makeshift toolbelt with numerous knives, and his shortsword strapped to it.

Livia snorted as she held the cake and kicked the door open with an impressive show of force, "Nah, those bums only drink these days, especially when the Revolt Festival is up and coming." She waved him off with a pout.

The door kicked open immediately causing the smell of alcohol, questionable herbs, and roasted meats to invade the brother-sister duo's senses.

Their eyes were greeted with the usual sight of the smiling receptionist's twitching brows as she was being hit on by a pair of adventurers.

Entering the place, the gazes of the surrounding boisterous adventurers gravitated to the bandaged older brother.

Hints of respect crossed their features as they only nodded in respect and acknowledgment for a moment before resuming their business of drinking or glaring at the filled-to-the-brim request board.

Unperturbed, the duo headed down the stairs leading into the guild-turned-restaurant/bar.

Approaching a recognizable party of adventurers - The Mudfoot Party:

Consisting of three individuals who appeared to be quite the unlikely party.

A blonde-haired man who was pushing thirty in age with a poorly shaven beard and a strange combination of two rapiers attached to his side.

A young woman with brown hair and streaks of white on the tips of her hair, a staff neatly covered at her side.

And finally, a muscular ogre roughly 2.8 meters in height dwarfed his teammates, a gigantic metal mace stood beside his seated visage.

The blonde-haired man exclaimed in a drunken stupor, "Hah... I miss the days when I was approached by fine women..."

The ogre chuckled, "Do not delude yourself, your little human stick couldn't satisfy them like I can, Bernard. BAHAHHAHAHAHAH!" He pointed at Bernard's groin with a wicked grin forming on his protruding canine face.

Turning to look at the ogre with an arched eyebrow, Bernard snorted and retorted, "At least I don't have to kidnap women to get them to bed with me, Vrog."

The woman nestled between them let out a shocked gasp, "He did not just say that!" Pointing at Bernard.

Vrog huffed with folded arms, "That is an ancient disgrace on our clan! We have not done this ever since our alliance that was founded by Queen Marcella's Grandfather-"

"Yeah, tell yourself whatever lets you sleep at night."

He retorted and emphasized, "We are an honorable people! I will admit human women are the finest of the bunch, however, we are courting them as humans do for over a century!"

Livia approached all of a sudden, and inquired, "Court?" She tilted her head innocently.

Blinking, the party's eyes immediately noted the glaring older brother, to which Bernard lifted his arm placatingly, "Well if it isn't the 'Miko Of Triumph', Acutus."

"I don't like that name."

"I do, it fits you. But I must admit, you're rather early considering the rough battle you faced for your advancement. Is your Master aware that you are running around like this?" Bernard patted Livia's head in a genuinely caring manner.

Acutus's brows twitched at that clear taunt, but he knew of Bernards' nature - this was both a joke and a serious inquiry.

"Whatever I do outside of his orders is none of his business as long as I win." Acutus sat down on the chair that Vrog gently put for him, mumbling out a short, "Thanks."

Grabbing Livia and placing her on her lap, the woman of the party tilted her head, "And what have you brought to us, Livia~?"

Livia smiled, "It's Cake, Big Sis Lori!" She put the cake on the table, on the little space left when accounting for the giant mugs of beer.

Acutus turned to the ogre of the party, "You short on gold that you resorted to beer?"

Livia nodded and chimed in, "You should take on a request so you can afford wine~!" She giggled.

Ruffling Livia's hair in dismay, Lori frowned, "Mentioning someone's financial state is in poor taste, Livia... but you're so cute I'll forgive you~!" She was completely and utterly smitten.

Answering Acutus' question, Vrog mentioned, "We're on a lower budget since we'll be staying here for the Revolt Festival and I, personally, want to meet the 6th Great Power."

Livia blinked, tilting her head, "6th Great Power? Gojo Satoru? He's coming here?"

Vrog grinned, "One of the upsides of drinking all day is that ya get to hear things you normally don't-"

"Those mushrooms mixed with Giant Porcupine Venom do that as well." Bernard interrupted with a snicker.

Vrog slapped him on the back of the head, knocking the poor drunken sod into the ground, "Bah! Don't interrupt me! In other words, the 6th Great Power is on his way here. He should be here a little after the Revolt Festival."

Blinking, Lori turned to the Ogre, "Wait, this is new. Do you want us to stay here until after the Revolt Festival? We have no gold to survive that long, we'll have to-"

Slamming his hand on the table, almost dropping the cake, thankfully Acutus effortlessly caught it, Vrog elaborated, "He managed to defeat Lord Badigadi with naught a scratch! It is a feat even Lord Malta failed to achieve." He exclaimed with genuine excitement and joy.

"I was lucky to have been on Ogre Island during Lord Badigadi's visit, but I am not missing the chance to face and greet a Great Power! BAHAHAHAHHA!"

Blinking, Acutus shrugged and asked pointedly, "Will his arrival do any favors for me?"

Rising up from his fallen position, Bernard sobered up at the rather serious inquiry, "He's not the recruiting type from what I've heard, so I doubt it-" He proceeded to punch Vrog in the face as he lectured, "But he's coming with the Second Princess Of Asura... No, at best if the Queen is receptive to their presence she'll host an event and your Master will call for you to participate if it does occur. You'll have a chance to catch her favor there much faster, I'd wager."

"But you'll have to reach Fighting Pit King to absolutely secure a spot until then... I doubt you could do that in a single month, however." He shrugged, pointing at the slave crest hidden within the boy's clothing.

Nodding gravely, Acutus clenched his fists, "Then he's irrelevant." He confirmed.

He will do what he must but for now...

"Eat the cake!" Livia pouted as she was incapable of escaping from Lori's clutches.

Indeed... such was the routine of a Boy and Sister reaching out for freedom.

One, for the sake of the other.

Whether the other knew of it or not.

"Where's Felix?" Acutus inquired upon recalling that he'd usually be here, as he scanned the premises for the half-breed.

"You know how Marcella's sold children are... mysterious and angsty, he's probably cooling off before coming back to his cheerful tomfoolery." Lori snorted as she waved off Acutus' concern for his one and only friend.

"This has been happening more often than not since he reached Fighting Pit Advanced." Acutus added pointedly.

Livia's expression turned neutral at that mention, but she took a bite of the cake she had procured to hide it.

Huffing at no further comment on the matter from anyone, Acutus dismissed the notion, "Whatever."

Lori's brows twitched as she reminded, "As I was saying... where do you plan to get the gold to stay for this long with our current habits? I fail to see how you two can cut back the drinki-"

Bernard and Vrog answered simultaneously, looking at her with a clear deadpan, and deadly serious tone:

""Gambling.""
