Chapter 23: 23 Rematch

(A/N: I know I said I will drop this but after seeing your comments I felt bad so I changed my mind... Sorry for giving you a heart attack, updates might be slow tho)

In front of a dark and eerie mansion, two young women stood at the doorway under the gloomy, clouds of the night sky. The creak of the heavy wooden door echoed ominously as it swung open, revealing the small shadow of Utahime at the entrance.

Utahime hesitated, cautiously poking inside the scary mansion gave her a sense of dejavu. She swallowed and forced her feet forward. But just as she crossed the threshold, a loud and thunderous bang echoed from deep within the building.

"Eek!" Utahime shrieked, jumping backward. "Nope! I am not going in first!" She scurried behind Mei Mei, clinging to her sleeve like a terrified child. Mei Mei rose her eyes braw.

"You are such a drama queen," She sighed, brushing off Utahime's grip before stepping into the dark hallway.

"Wait for me!" Utahime yelped, stumbling forward. She had no choice but to follow her partner into the unknown.

Pulling out her phone, Utahime used her flashlight to see through the oppressive darkness. The mansion's interior was in shambles, broken furniture, peeling wallpaper, and a thick layer of dust spoke of years of abandonment.

Despite already knowing what awaited her form the report she felt like leaving but the fact that there were no immediate signs of curses kept her somewhat calm.

Ignoring Utahime, Mei Mei walked forward, following the faint traces of leaking cursed energy. Step by step, the two sorcerers went deeper and deeper into the mansion.

Their path eventually led them to a set of stairs descending into a basement. The energy radiating from below was the source of the dark feeling.

Utahime froze at the top of the staircase, staring down into the abyss. "Why does it have to be a basement?" she whimpered.

Mei Mei glanced at Utahime. "Are you seriously this scared?" she asked amused, already descending the creaking steps.

Utahime frowned but followed her.

step step

Reaching the bottom of the stairs, shadows stretched out before them. Utahime's flashlight swept across the ground, revealing a blood trail smeared across the dirt floor. The crimson path led to a jagged hole in the wall.

"Eugh…" Utahime cryed again, "There is blood!?" her face pale as she pointed at the blood.

Mei Mei approached the hole and peered inside. The tunnel beyond was narrow and seemed to stretch endlessly into the shadows.

"Some kind of tunnel," she muttered.

"Should we go back? Call for backup?" Utahime whispered nervously, her hands trembling.

Mei Mei shook her head. "I'd rather just get this over with as fast as we can." Mei Mei stepped into the tunnel.

"Wait!" Utahime called out from behind

The tunnel was damp and dirty, its walls pressing in on them as they walked. The cursed energy grew stronger with each step.

"How long is this tunnel?" Utahime groaned as there was no signs of end after 5 minutes of walking.

The endless tunnel reminded her of a previous mission when they'd been trapped in the same place for three days straight even if it felt like she was there for only a few hours.

Finally, the tunnel opened into a larger chamber. Three more paths branched out before them, each leading deeper into the dark.

"You have to be kidding me…" Utahime began, but a sudden, bone-chilling presence stopped her words dead in their tracks.

A chill ran down their spine, a strong cursed energy spiked. Utahime spun around, desperate to retreat, but the way they'd come was now blocked by solid dirt wall.

"Noooo… it's gone!" she cried, her small fists pounding frantically on the wall.

"Utahime!" Mei Mei whispered sharply, her body tense as she faced the farthest tunnel. For the first time since they had entered the mansion she felt a real sense of danger.

But Utahime was too consumed by panic, leaning against the blocked passage with tears in her eyes. "I'm going to die down here!".

When she turned back to Mei Mei, she found herself alone. Her partner had already disappeared in the dark, her footsteps echoing faintly down one of the paths.

"Mei Mei?!" Utahime's voice trembled. "Don't leave me here!"

Her head snapped from right to left, while from the farthest tunnel faint footsteps approached. Her heart sank. Mei Mei's footsteps were not as heavy.

"Nope, nope, nope!" Utahime bolted down the middle path, her sobs echoing as after some time her ruining came to a slow walk.

"Mei Mei!" she called out in a whisper.

Silence was her only reply.

Her phone's light trembled as she held it up, her hands shaking. The tunnel seemed to continue stretching.

Then she stopped.

Her breath caught in her throat as her flashlight beam illuminated something on the ceiling. Slowly, she raised the light.

A pale, grotesque figure clung to the ceiling, its body marked with black stripes. Five unblinking eyes locked onto her, moving one by one. Its mouth stretched into a horrifying grin, sharp teeth glinting in the light.

"UWAAAA!" Utahime screamed, turning on her heel and sprinting down the tunnel. The creature scrambled after her, its claws scraping against the walls.

She ran blindly, glancing back in terror not aware that something or someone was in front of her path.

Paw

Her face collided with something solid. Falling back on the stone floor, she looked up, dazed. Standing before her was a tall figure, cloaked in shadow.

If she'd been a cat, she would've lost all nine lives in that moment.

Behind her, the cursed spirit snarled, crawling closer. Utahime curled into a ball, covering her ears and squeezing her eyes shut as she started to see flashbacks of her life.

"ORAA!"

Meanwhile

A battle cry rang out, echoing through the tunnel. The ground trembled as the tall figure of Star Platinum lunged at the curse, The heavy fist landing on the curse's head slamming it intro the wall

"You bastard," Jotaro growled, remembering the last time he had faced a Sukuna finger bearer, it was time for a rematch. Jojo was now angry, and so was his stand.

"ORA! ORA! ORA! ORA!"

Like a shotgun, Star Platinum's fists launched at the curse, landing at the same time.

The blows carved massive, fist shaped holes into the curse's body.

In the blink of an eye, the special grade curse was no more.
