__________

"That is..." an old woman said. She was wearing a very strange dress—a cheongsam with a stand-up collar. The dress itself was very gorgeous, but it looked very strange on an old woman with wrinkles all over her face and twisted feet.

The old woman spoke in a trembling, ancient voice. The sudden bright light made everyone else subconsciously close their eyes, but she noticed something more important.

"That's the direction of the Dragon King of Destruction."

_______

Amidst the vast and empty wilderness, a figure stood proudly.

He was a knight, of medium height, about 1.7 meters, and looked quite slender, but he was wearing a full set of armor. The armor was silver-white, and even though the moonlight was obscured by dark clouds at this moment, it still shone with a holy light.

The knight's facial features were hidden by the visor, and his hair was also concealed. The shape of the visor was cast in the form of some beast's head, and the edges were adorned with a large number of long light brown tassels, exuding a strong sense of majesty.

Beneath the visor were heavy shoulder armor and chest armor, as well as hand armor and calf armor. His thighs were wrapped in a blue battle skirt, leaving not an inch of skin exposed.

"That solves it." The knight spoke, his voice calm and cold, like the northern ocean, full of murderous chill.

"Yes, yes." A voice responded, coming from somewhere. The voice was full of shock, astonishment, and trembling with fear.

This voice belonged to a magical beast that had lived in this forest for who knows how many years—the tree demon Pinis Pollen Perlia. She was the guardian of the place where the Dragon King of Destruction was sealed.

According to legend, long, long ago, before the long-lived Pinis had been born, the sky suddenly split open and monsters descended upon the earth.

These monsters had a powerful force capable of destroying the world, even one feared by the dragon kings. They brought great disasters to the entire world.

Although they were eventually conquered by the Dragon Kings, who gathered all their strength, in reality, they were simply in a deep sleep—or rather, sealed away.

One of these beings was sleeping in this forest.

That being was the monster called the Dragon King of Destruction by humans. Its essence was a twisted magic tree. In the years before Pinis, she had experienced a riot caused by a part of the magic tree awakening.

That riot had been neatly resolved by seven heroes, although unfortunately, it had been so long that Pinis had forgotten the names of those heroes.

However, just less than half an hour ago, what Pinis felt was an even worse future—the real body of the magic tree was about to wake up.

"It should have taken at least a month." Although Pinis complained, she knew very well why the magic tree had awakened early.

"It's over." She sighed. The tree demon Pinis had realized that both her own life and this world would be destroyed by the resurrection of the Destruction Demon Tree.

Even the seven heroes who had promised to defeat the magic tree had only the power to defeat its clones. Facing the original tree, they would be powerless.

It's over. The world is over. Just as she was thinking this, the knight arrived.

It was a knight clad in full silver-white armor, from foot armor to face armor. He descended straight from the sky to the spot where the magic tree was about to awaken.

"Human, run away from there! The magic tree is about to be born!" Pinis shouted subconsciously, but the knight did not respond.

"Run away, human! You don't want to fight, do you? You can't win!"

As if finally noticing the sound, the knight tilted his head in Pinis's direction.

"It would be good if you could destroy me just like that." The knight said, his aura fierce and lonely, like a lion separated from its pack.

Suddenly, the ground cracked open, and a huge figure, hundreds of meters tall, emerged. Hideous branches grew wildly, and root-like things stretched out from the ground, spreading in all directions.

Pinis wailed as the roots of the magic tree began to roll up the trees on the outskirts of the wilderness, devouring them one by one. The wasteland that appeared in the center of the forest, drained of all nutrients by the magic tree, now expanded constantly.

The huge body, the ferocious branches, and the sharp fangs—this was a monster that did not belong to this world, a destroyer from the abyss of hell. It's over. The world is over!

As for the human knight, Pinis was no longer in the mood to think about him. Anyway, that human must have died. It was impossible for any life to survive under the foot of the magic tree.

"Is that so?" The clear voice was beyond Pinis's judgment. She noticed that the knight was still standing at the foot of the magic tree.

No matter whether it was branches, vines, or flying leaves, they could not get close to the knight—it was as if a gust of wind surrounded him, blocking the magic tree's invasion.

"It has strong vitality, but it's just a tree after all. Just burn it from the roots." The knight said, raising the silver-white knight's spear in his right hand.

The spear was peculiar in shape. The main body seemed to be woven from silver-white chains, and the chain at the tail of the spear split into strands that wrapped around the knight's right hand, making it curious how the knight held it.

At this moment, the entire spear lit up, and a dazzling holy light flashed from the tip to the tail, then concentrated at the tip.

Strips of light appeared, floating in the air, crisscrossing around the spear like chains, trying to restrain the knight's spear, which had transformed into a beam of light.

The magic tree seemed to sense the threat, and a large number of thick branches rushed toward the knight, but they were still unable to cross the three-foot wind barrier around him. The vines gathered outside the barrier, gradually wrapping it up and instantly blocking the holy light.

But it was only a moment of darkness. The next moment, the knight opened his mouth and uttered words of praise that seemed to come from ancient times.

Then, a column of light burst forth from the holy spear, piercing through the vines, the body of the magic tree, and the clouds, illuminating the night as if it were day.

Pinis, who witnessed the entire event, didn't know what to say. She even suspected that it was all an illusion. It could be said that all her common sense had been overturned.

Looking at the magic tree engulfed in flames, slowly falling under the beam of light, she realized that the knight before her was a more terrifying monster than the Destruction Demon Tree itself.

"Mr. Knight, may I ask who you are?" Pinis asked fearfully.

"I'm just an adventurer now." The knight answered coldly, turning toward the direction of Pinis's real body.

"You are a tree demon."

"Yes, yes."

"Are there other beings like you in this forest?" The knight asked.

"No, maybe one will appear in a few decades, but I am the only intelligent tree demon right now."

"Is that so?" The knight didn't seem interested in asking any further questions and turned to leave.

"Please wait a moment, Sir Knight!" Pinis called out to him.

"What's wrong?" The knight turned sideways and asked coldly.

"Thank you very much for saving me. It's really scary that the demon tree awakened early..."

"You mean, wake up early?" The knight noticed the key point in her words and asked, "Ahead of time? What does that mean?"

"Ah? Well, the Demonic Tree was supposed to wake up at least a month later, but for some reason, it woke up earlier."

"Some reason? What is the reason?" The knight seemed very interested in this matter.

Pinis thought for a moment and said, "Because a sacred tree descended not long ago, the Destruction Demon Tree was inspired. No, not just the Destruction Demon Tree—it's safe to say that all intelligent plant monsters in the world cannot resist the inspiration of the sacred tree!"

As she spoke, the tree demon sighed.

"The arrival of the sacred tree is clearly a rare event that only happens once in a thousand years, but I didn't expect it to awaken the demon tree instead."

"Did anyone plant the sacred tree you mentioned?"
