Chapter 17: Business Queen Liu Yue
Ye Chen smiled as he looked at the elegant bracelet in his hands. "Of course, I still sell it. Are you really interested in this?" he asked, glancing at the beautiful woman before him.
"Yes, I am. How much is it?" the woman inquired, her voice carrying a mix of curiosity and skepticism.
"The price is one hundred thousand dollars," Ye Chen stated confidently, before adding, "It has unique healing properties, especially for internal ailments."
The woman hesitated, her brows furrowing slightly. "Does it really work as you claim?" Doubt lingered in her tone.
Ye Chen chuckled lightly. "Of course. If I'm lying, I'll gladly take a thousand lightning strikes as punishment."
She bit her lip, contemplating. Despite her doubts, something inside her—perhaps intuition—urged her to believe him. Women's intuition was rarely wrong, after all.
"Alright, I'll take it." A determined glint appeared in her eyes. If this bracelet had even the slightest chance of helping her grandmother, it was worth the risk.
Her grandmother had been battling a severe liver condition for years, and doctors had all but given up. The thought of losing her due to toxin accumulation in her body was unbearable. If there was any hope, she would seize it.
Reaching into her designer bag, she pulled out a thick stack of cash, ready to pay.
Just as Ye Chen was about to hand over the bracelet, a firm hand suddenly blocked the exchange.
A young man in a tailored blue suit stepped between them. "Yue'er, how can you trust this guy?" His voice was laced with displeasure.
The woman's eyes darkened as she glared at him. "That's none of your business, and don't call me that disgusting name. We have nothing to do with each other, Bai San."
"Yue'er, I'm only looking out for you! How can I let you be deceived by some scam artist?" Bai San shot Ye Chen a hostile look.
"Mr. Bai, I warn you—don't ever call me that again," she snapped coldly. "You are not important enough to interfere in my affairs. I've tolerated your antics out of respect for your father, but if you keep pushing, I won't hold back."
Bai San's jaw tightened. "Liu Yue, why are you being so naive? You're a business queen, yet you're falling for this scam?" He scoffed. "I thought you were smarter."
Liu Yue's eyes turned icy. "Are you calling me stupid?"
Bai San immediately regretted his words. "No, that's not what I—"
"Enough," she cut him off. "You're embarrassing yourself. Leave."
Ye Chen, who had been silently observing, finally spoke. "Mr. Bai, if you think this bracelet is fake, that's your opinion. But Liu Yue is capable of making her own decisions."
Bai San sneered. "Oh, so you do talk. Listen, punk, I don't know who you think you are, but Liu Yue is mine, and I won't let some nobody fool her."
Ye Chen sighed. "You talk too much."
Bai San's face turned red with anger. "You little—!" He swung his fist at Ye Chen, but before he could connect, he yelped in pain. Holding his throbbing hand, he stared at Ye Chen in disbelief.
"Damn, what are you made of? Steel?" he hissed, cradling his injured knuckles.
Undeterred, Bai San lifted his foot, aiming to kick Ye Chen. But Ye Chen swiftly caught his collar and lifted him off the ground with ease.
"You still haven't learned your lesson, huh?" Ye Chen smirked before landing a crisp slap on Bai San's face.
"You—!" Bai San fumed, only for another slap to silence him.
"You're really persistent," Ye Chen mused, delivering yet another slap.
"I—I'll have my brother, Brother Wolf, deal with you! He's the leader of the biggest gang in this city!" Bai San threatened between slaps.
Ye Chen sighed. "That's cute. Here's another one just for fun." Smack!
Bai San's once-arrogant face was now swollen and red. "Please, I'm sorry!" he whimpered. "I won't mess with you again!"
"Good. Next time, it won't be just your face," Ye Chen warned before tossing him aside like a ragdoll.
Humiliated, Bai San scrambled to his feet and ran off, muttering under his breath. "Just wait… I'll get my revenge."
Ye Chen turned back to Liu Yue, offering a casual smile. "Sorry about that. I hope I didn't ruin your evening."
Liu Yue chuckled, her expression softening. "Not at all. In fact, I should thank you. That idiot has been bothering me for far too long."
Ye Chen raised an eyebrow. "Then why not just fire his father?"
She sighed. "Unfortunately, his father holds strong connections with our shareholders. Removing him isn't that simple."
"I see," Ye Chen nodded. "So… about our business? Do you still want the bracelet?"
Liu Yue smiled. "Of course."
She handed over the cash, and after verifying its authenticity, Ye Chen passed her the bracelet.
"Pleasure doing business with you," Ye Chen said with a grin.
"Likewise." Liu Yue turned to leave but hesitated. "By the way, I don't think I got your name."
"Ye Chen."
She nodded, as if committing it to memory. "Ye Chen… I'll remember that. I'm Liu Yue. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to find me."
With that, she walked away, disappearing into the crowd.
Ye Chen watched her go, a smirk playing on his lips. Women are really unpredictable. Shaking his head, he turned and left, not realizing that this encounter would change his life forever.
