Chapter 28: Teacher Lin Ruoxi Roommate
Ye Chen was left alone in the living room, waiting for Teacher Lin Rouxi, who had locked herself in her room. She was too embarrassed to face him after their earlier encounter.
After waiting for over ten minutes with no sign of her coming out, Ye Chen grew impatient and decided to check on her. He knocked on the door gently.
"Teacher Lin, are you okay?" he asked.
There was no response. Concerned, Ye Chen used his spiritual sense to check on her. Fortunately, she wasn't in any danger, just unwilling to come out.
Realizing that Lin Rouxi didn't want to see him, Ye Chen decided to leave the dormitory. As he reached for the door handle, it suddenly turned from the other side. The door opened to reveal Zhao Yanyan carrying a shopping bag.
"Yanyan, baby, why are you here?" Ye Chen asked, surprised.
Zhao Yanyan raised an eyebrow. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? This is my dormitory, after all. What are you doing in my room?"
Ye Chen was taken aback. He hadn't realized that Zhao Yanyan lived here, let alone that her roommate was Lin Rouxi. Wait… This afternoon, Zhao Yanyan had called Lin Rouxi "Sister Rouxi."
"I was invited here by Teacher Lin Rouxi," Ye Chen explained. "But now she's locked herself in her room and won't come out."
Hearing this, Zhao Yanyan put down her shopping bag and walked straight to Lin Rouxi's door. She knocked softly.
"Sister Rouxi, are you okay?" she asked with concern.
Living together, Zhao Yanyan was aware of Lin Rouxi's recurring leg pain, which usually flared up on even-numbered days. When she got no response, Zhao Yanyan turned to Ye Chen, her worry increasing.
"Ye Chen, break down the door! She might be in trouble!" she urged.
Ye Chen had already checked with his spiritual sense and knew Lin Rouxi was fine. However, since his girlfriend was insisting, he hesitated.
Before he could act, Lin Rouxi's voice came from inside. "Yanyan, I'm fine. You don't need to worry. I'm just a little tired today and want to rest."
Relieved, Zhao Yanyan sighed. "Thank goodness."
Ye Chen nodded. "Looks like Teacher Lin is exhausted. We should let her rest."
"You're right," Zhao Yanyan agreed. Then she turned back to Ye Chen. "But you still haven't explained what you're doing here."
Ye Chen quickly recounted the events, though he left out some of the more embarrassing details.
"Oh, so you came to treat Sister Rouxi's illness," Zhao Yanyan said, now understanding. "But Ye Chen, do you even know medicine?"
"A little," Ye Chen replied vaguely.
"And is she cured now?" Zhao Yanyan asked.
"Not completely. She still needs one more session of treatment," Ye Chen admitted. "Could you tell her that later?"
"Of course," Zhao Yanyan agreed.
Ye Chen smiled. "Alright, I should get going—"
Before he could finish, Zhao Yanyan hugged him tightly.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" she pouted. "Don't you like being with me?"
Ye Chen chuckled. "It's not that, Yanyan. It's just late. Wouldn't you get in trouble for having a guy in your dorm?"
Zhao Yanyan shook her head. "It's only 7 PM. Visitors are allowed until 9. So… do you want to stay a little longer?"
Seeing her hopeful expression, Ye Chen couldn't refuse. "If my Yanyan asks, how could I say no?"
Smiling, Zhao Yanyan took his hand. "Great! Help me bring these groceries to the kitchen. I'll cook something delicious for you."
Ye Chen followed her to the kitchen, noticing how well-equipped it was. Clearly, this was a VIP dormitory with top-tier facilities.
As Zhao Yanyan tied her hair into a ponytail, preparing to cook, Ye Chen couldn't help but admire her beauty. Deciding to help, he started washing the vegetables and meat. Once everything was ready, Zhao Yanyan expertly chopped the ingredients.
"What are you making?" Ye Chen asked.
"Spicy soy sauce stir-fry," she replied, focused on her task.
Ye Chen stood behind her, watching her cook. Feeling playful, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close.
"Ye Chen, stop that! I'm cooking!" she scolded, though she wasn't really upset.
"Why? You can still cook, can't you?" Ye Chen teased, his hands wandering.
Zhao Yanyan blushed. "You're impossible!"
Seeing her reaction, Ye Chen finally let go and watched as she finished cooking. The aroma was enticing, making his mouth water.
They sat down at the dining table, and Ye Chen took a bite. The flavors were perfectly balanced—savory, sweet, and slightly spicy.
"Mmm, this is delicious!" he praised, taking another bite.
Zhao Yanyan beamed. "I'm glad you like it."
"I didn't know you were such a great cook."
She blushed. "I only started learning recently. Sister Rouxi is much better."
"Well, I think your cooking is amazing too," Ye Chen assured her.
After finishing their meal, they washed the dishes together before sitting on the couch and chatting. As the clock neared 8 PM, Ye Chen decided it was time to leave.
"I should go now, Yanyan," he said, standing up.
Before he could step away, Zhao Yanyan quickly pulled him in and kissed him on the lips. Surprised at first, Ye Chen soon responded, deepening the kiss. When they finally pulled away, she was breathless.
"See you tomorrow, Ye Chen," she said softly.
Ye Chen smiled. "See you, Yanyan."
After he left, Zhao Yanyan sat down, covering her face with her hands. Her heart was racing. She hadn't planned to kiss him—she had just acted on impulse. But… she didn't regret it.
Meanwhile, the door to Lin Rouxi's room finally opened. She stepped out cautiously, glancing around.
"Is Ye Chen gone?" she asked.
"Yes, he just left," Zhao Yanyan replied. "Sister Rouxi, how's your leg? Is it feeling better?"
Lin Rouxi nodded. "It's improving."
"Oh, Ye Chen said your treatment needs one more session for a full recovery."
Hearing that, Lin Rouxi's face turned red as memories of the earlier session flooded her mind. Avoiding eye contact, she quickly muttered, "Okay, I understand," and disappeared back into her room.
Zhao Yanyan watched her go, puzzled. "Sister Rouxi is acting really strange tonight…"
Shaking off the thought, she decided to take a shower and get some rest. Tomorrow, she would see Ye Chen again.
