JOURNEY TO THE HEAVEN TO HELL

Chapter 2: Can I even do magic?

Forgotten Past: The Prince's Destiny - Chapter 2

Inside his room, Prince Ren was engrossed in practicing magic, surrounded by countless books. He had tried every technique, read every single book, but he simply couldn't grasp how to perform magic. He could recite the incantations, read and understand the texts, yet he couldn't figure out how to draw magic from his body or how to truly cast spells. It made no sense to him at all.

He tried to perform the rote movements, mimicking what he'd seen, but nothing worked. He just couldn't understand how to summon fire or water from his own being, or even what magic truly was.

Then, he looked out his window.

His elder sister, Luna, was practicing magic, guided by her teacher.

Ren thought to himself:

If only I could do magic! My elder sister, Luna, she's practicing magic, and she's quite good at it. And she even has a teacher who's showing her how.

Wait, an idea just struck me! Why do I even need to learn magic on my own? I'm a Prince! So, I'll just ask Mother to bring a magic teacher for me too, and they can teach me how to do magic. What a great idea!

Ren immediately bolted out of his room and rushed to his mother. "Mom! Mom! Listen!"

His mother smiled. "What is it, my dear Ren? Is there something you need?"

Ren eagerly said, "Mom, my elder sister has a teacher who teaches her magic. I want a teacher too, someone who can teach me magic! Please, please!"

His mother chuckled. "No, darling, not yet. When you turn eight years old, we'll get you a great teacher, a grand one, who will teach you magic every day. Not now."

"But Mom," Ren protested, "my elder sister has a magic teacher who teaches her magic, so why can't I?"

His mother gently ruffled Ren's hair, still smiling. "Because your elder sister is older. She's nine. That's why she has a magic teacher. When you get bigger, you'll have one too, alright?"

Ren was deeply disheartened. What? Do I really have to wait another four years?

He pushed on, "But Mom, why do I have to wait so long? Why can't I learn now?"

His mother continued to playfully mess with his hair. "Why are you in such a hurry to learn, dear? There's plenty of time, isn't there?"

"Alright, if you really want to know, I'll tell you why. Every person has elemental energy inside them. This energy determines whether they'll be able to use one type of elemental energy or two."

"You're still very young. Your energy right now might not be strong enough, or it might be unstable. It takes time for it to grow and stabilize. That's why you can't learn now. And if you try to learn prematurely, something might happen to you because your energy isn't stable. Understand?"

Ren said sadly, "Okay, Mom," and walked away.

Ren thought:

Oh, man, I have to wait even longer. I can't wait that long! I've got such a good opportunity here. In my previous life, I was useless, nothing special, but in this life, I want power, and I want to achieve something! But how do I learn magic now? I have to do something!

Just then, his father appeared in the hallway.

Ren noticed the guards. "Why are there so many guards with him?"

He ran up to his father. "Dad!"

The King picked Ren up, playfully tossing him. "How are you, my big boy? Everything good?"

Ren replied, "Dad, I want to learn magic. Will you teach me?"

The King said, "Not now. When you get older, I'll teach you even better magic, but you can't learn now."

Ren's face fell, and he started to walk away. Then an idea sparked in his mind.

He turned back. "Dad, tell me something. Why are there so many guards walking around you?"

The King explained, "Because, son, I am the King, so all these people are here to protect me."

Ren pondered this. "But why? You're really strong, aren't you? You're the strongest of all, so why do you need protection? I mean, why are they protecting you?"

The King laughed. "You're right, I am very strong. But I am a King, so all this is necessary."

Ren thought to himself, Aha!

He then said, "So, Dad, I want one too! I want a guard who will protect me!"

The King looked surprised. What? Why would you need protection?

Ren, acting overly dramatic, said, "Yes, Dad! I'm the Third Prince too! My life could be in danger. An assassin might kill me, or someone might kidnap me, or hurt me! So, I need a guard too, someone to protect me!"

Ren thought, If I get a guard, they must know how to do magic! I'll learn magic from them. What a brilliant idea, isn't it?

The King laughed again. "Oh, my Third Prince!"

Ren pressed on, "So, Dad, it's a promise? I'll get a guard to protect me?"

The King considered this. Just then, a guard whispered something into the King's ear.

Guard: "Your Majesty, there's someone who's been bothering us. They want a job here. They've been persistently following us, and we don't know what task to give them. It might be a good idea to assign them to the young prince. They'll surely be able to protect the young prince."

The King thought for a moment, then said, "Alright, Ren! We will bring you an excellent guard who will protect you."

Ren's face lit up with overwhelming joy.

The King smiled and left.

The main character, overjoyed, bounced around the entire palace, shouting with glee.

Some time later.

The main character was lost in thought:

What will my guard be like? He imagined: Someone very big and strong?

Someone who will teach me powerful magic, or maybe a very powerful guard who knows many magic spells?

Or perhaps an old person with a lot of experience who will teach me?

Or a grown lady who will teach me magic?

Lost in his imagination, he eagerly awaited his guard's arrival.

Just then, the King walked in.

Ren rushed up to him. "Dad, did you bring my guard?"

The King simply said, "Here she is!"

The main character looked around. Where's the really strong guard? He looked left and right, front and back, everywhere, but he couldn't see any strong guard.

Then he asked, "Dad, where is she?"

The King pointed. "Right here, in front of you!"

Ren was utterly astonished. What? She looks so young! Will she even know magic? Will she be able to teach me? All these thoughts raced through his mind.

Ren stammered, "Is it really her, Dad?"

The King affirmed, "Yes. From today, she will be with you 24 hours a day and protect you."

Saying this, the King left.

The girl bowed her head and introduced herself. "Young Master, my name is Arisa Noxveil. But you can call me Arisa. I will be with you 24 hours a day and protect you at all times."

Ren asked, "Oh. Are you powerful?"

Arisa looked surprised, then calmly said, "Are you asking about my power? Yes, I mean, I am powerful, but not exceedingly so. Still, I am powerful. I can use two elements."

"Wow! That's great!" Ren exclaimed. "You'll teach me magic right now!"

Arisa immediately refused. "No, I'm sorry, I cannot teach you. His Majesty ordered me to fulfill your every wish, but I was specifically forbidden from teaching you magic. If you ask to learn magic, I cannot do it."

Ren was shocked. "What? Did he know?"

Just then, a scene of the King appeared, walking away, laughing to himself.

Ren muttered, "Dad! It's all your fault!" He then turned back to Arisa. "Alright, that's His Majesty's command, but I, the Third Prince, order you to teach me magic!"

Arisa calmly stated, "No, absolutely not. I have a specific order that if I try to teach you magic, I will be dismissed from my position. You can ask for anything else, and I will help you."

The main character said, "Does that mean you won't teach me magic?"

Arisa replied, "Yes, I cannot teach you at all."

Ren exclaimed, "This means you're useless to me!"

Arisa looked surprised but remained calm and said nothing.

Ren sighed, "Ugh, my plan is ruined!" He started to walk away silently, but then Arisa began to follow him, trailing behind him.

She followed him everywhere.

The main character, annoyed, yelled, "Why are you following me? Go do your job!"

Arisa replied, "No, this is my job. To follow you everywhere, to protect you from enemies, and to guard you. This is my duty, and I cannot abandon it."

Ren scoffed, "Wait, wait! Does that mean you'll follow me everywhere, day and night, all the time?"

Arisa confirmed, "Yes, you understood correctly. I will follow you day and night, morning and evening, all the time, and protect you."

Ren was utterly aghast. "Oh, what trouble have I gotten myself into! And why can't I just practice magic properly?"

A day or two passed like this.

The main character became incredibly frustrated with all this. Being followed everywhere was something he absolutely detested. He couldn't practice magic, nor could he do anything else, because she was constantly trailing him.

One day, exasperated, he told Arisa, "Go! I dismiss you! You're fired!"

Arisa replied, "No, you cannot dismiss me. Only His Majesty can. As long as His Majesty doesn't order it, my job is to protect you and follow you. So, I will continue doing my job."

Ren asked, "So, there's no way to get you fired?"

Arisa said, "No, not unless I make a mistake in my work."

And then, proudly, she added, "I will never make a mistake in my work that would lead to me being fired."

The main character thought, Aha, I understand now.

Then, he quickly ran far away, shouting, "You never found me quickly! I'll report that you're not good at your job, that you couldn't find me, and you left me alone, which could have gotten me hurt or did get me hurt! Because of all this, you'll be fired!" The main character yelled all these things as he ran.

And he vanished very quickly.

Because even though he didn't know magic, his physical body was very strong, and he had very strong physical abilities.

Arisa stood frozen, unable to comprehend what had just happened or what to do. Then it hit her: if she didn't find him, she would be fired! Panicked, she ran after him, desperately trying to find him. In the huge palace, finding him was a challenge, so she was checking every single room, looking for the Third Prince.

She searched everywhere, in every room, every corner, but he was nowhere to be found.

Then she thought to herself:

Wait! What am I going to do now? I got this job with such difficulty! Will I be fired again? No, I have to find him no matter what! I can't lose my job like this! In a state of panic, she ran, and...

She bumped into Luna and exclaimed, "Who's there?" She looked up to see the Princess standing in front of her, so she got scared and bowed down, repeatedly apologizing.

Luna said, "Oh, it's alright, but who are you?"

Arisa, flustered, explained, "I am the Third Prince's special maid, who protects him in everything and handles his various tasks."

Luna said, "What? A maid? When did this happen? Did I go out for a day or two, and a maid arrived to help my little brother, and I was forgotten?" She was overthinking it.

Then Arisa said, "Princess, have you seen the Third Prince anywhere? If you have, please tell me. My job depends on it."

Luna thought for a moment. "He'll definitely be at his favorite place, the library. You should go to the library; you'll surely find him there."

Arisa bowed her head, expressing immense gratitude, and set off to find him.

Searching, she eventually found the main character. He was calmly reading a book in the library. Arisa saw him and approached him, out of breath and with a hint of fear.

She was incredibly angry, but she kept it to herself, maintaining a fake smile.

Ren said, "Oh, so you found me. That's surprising. I didn't think you'd be able to."

Arisa was seething inside, but she said nothing, thinking:

This boy! I want to, but I can't do anything. I never wanted this job. I wanted to be a warrior, to go on adventures, to fight monsters. I thought after finishing my studies, I would get a good job, go on adventures, kill monsters, or fight on the border, use my strength, increase my power, and become very powerful.

But look what I'm doing? Taking care of a mischievous Prince! What can I do? My luck is bad.

It's only because I need money that I'm doing this job. Otherwise, I would have left by now, but it's my मजबूरी (compulsion).

Ren was reading his book when he noticed someone staring intently at him. He looked up to see Arisa glaring at him, making it very difficult for him to read. He thought to himself, I've always been alone since childhood, confined to a room. No one was ever there to watch me, nor was anyone ever with me. I've always been alone. But today feels very strange. How would you feel if you've spent half your life alone and suddenly someone starts staring at you?

Then he yelled, "Do your job! And stop staring at me! I can't read my book!"

Arisa replied, "No, I can't. My job is to keep an eye on you, so I can't take my eyes off you or go anywhere. My job is to protect you and watch you."

The main character thought, Now what? Then an idea struck him.

He asked Arisa, "Listen, do you like reading books?"

Arisa's eyes sparkled. "Yes, I love it very much!"

Ren understood that she liked reading, so he thought, Alright, let's tempt her with books!

"Look, there are tons of books in this library. You can read whatever you want, as much as you want."

Arisa was both surprised and extremely happy, excited at the prospect of so many books to read.

Ren then said, "But I have one condition. You have to teach me magic."

Arisa's expression turned serious. "No, I'm sorry. I cannot teach you."

She was angry inside but remained silent, thinking, This boy!

Ren pressed on, "Alright, if you can't teach me magic, that's fine. But you can show me how to do magic, right? They wouldn't have forbidden you from showing me, would they?"

Arisa thought, I was told to fulfill all the Prince's wishes, just not to teach him magic. And this is also his wish, isn't it? So, I can do this.

"Alright, Prince, I will show you how to do magic."

The main character was overjoyed internally.

Some time later.

Arisa and the main character were in the back garden of the palace.

Ren said, "Alright, show me how you do magic."

Arisa held out her hand and performed water magic, sending a water bubble at a target.

Ren thought, Wait, this magic is very simple. She's just gathering water from the environment, forming a bubble, and throwing it. Is this what magic is called?

Then he, too, held out his hand and tried to perform magic, concentrating intensely.

Arisa said, "What are you doing, Prince? It's not that easy. You can't just do it like that. It requires a lot of practice and hard work. You can't just do it whenever you feel like it."

But the main character paid no attention to her words and continued to concentrate.

Slowly, clouds began to gather all around. The entire environment filled with strong winds. A fierce wind blew everywhere, and dark clouds appeared.

In the main character's hand, a very large water bubble formed, and it exploded with immense force, destroying more than half of the entire garden.

Seeing this, both the main character and Arisa were shocked.

What will happen next?

Will he be able to use magic again?

Will the secret behind our main character finally be revealed?

After performing such a powerful spell, what's coming next?
