Jujutsu kaisen: King of Seven Shikigami

Chapter 21: 21 limitless

The evening sky hung heavy over the Jujutsu Tech training grounds, cloaking the area in hues of orange and long, stretching shadows. The last rays of sunlight kissed the earth, highlighting two figures who looked as though they came from two different eras—Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer of this century, and Tora, the heir to the future, sitting cross-legged on the dusty ground, his hair swaying in the evening breeze.

Gojo stood tall, his silhouette towering in his flowing blue coat, which fluttered gently in the wind. His signature dark shades reflected the twilight light, though they couldn't hide the curiosity etched across his face.

In a casual tone, but with a sharpness like a hidden dagger, he asked:

"So… how do you plan to defeat me?"

A faint smile curved on Tora's lips. Not arrogant, but full of quiet confidence. His gaze remained steady, unwavering as he answered:

"The first way… is by forcing you into close combat."

Gojo raised an eyebrow, mildly intrigued.

Tora stared at him intently, then thought silently:

'That's what you did when you fought Sukuna. You disabled Infinity just to beat him directly. You only do that with opponents you consider equal.'

"The second way," Tora continued, "is with the Inverted Spear of Heaven—a cursed tool that can nullify any active technique. If someone gets hit directly, their cursed technique is instantly shut down. Even your Limitless can't withstand it."

Tora's tone was calm, almost like a lecture. But each word landed heavy, revealing that he fully understood what he was talking about.

Gojo said nothing. Neither confirming nor denying. He just listened… and analyzed.

"Third, Domain Expansion," Tora went on. "If a domain user emphasizes a guaranteed hit and kill effect, then even Infinity can't block it."

He looked up at Gojo's face and smiled faintly, thinking:

'That's what he told Yuji… during the fight with Jogo. I remember it clearly.'

"Fourth…" Tora added, "Domain Amplification."

Gojo interrupted suddenly, his voice light but cutting.

"You know about Domain Amplification too?"

Tora turned toward him and answered without hesitation.

"Yes. Granny Ogami explained it to me."

Gojo grinned, the corner of his mouth lifting with a teasing smirk.

"Hmm~ alright, go on."

"And lastly," Tora raised his head, eyes locked on Gojo, "the user of Ten Shadows. You must know Mahoraga… the strongest shikigami from that technique. In all history, no one's ever been able to tame it."

But within his mind, Tora muttered quietly:

'…except Sukuna.'

Gojo let out a quiet sigh, folding his arms across his chest.

"Hearing your explanation makes me even more curious to meet that old lady. Sounds like she's hiding a ton of secrets from the Jujutsu clans."

With calm steps, Gojo walked toward Tora, who was still seated on the ground. His shoes scuffed up dust with each step. His shadow fell partially over Tora's body.

Without saying anything, Gojo squatted in front of him. His expression grew serious. The once-subtle pressure in the air now slowly crept in.

"I'll add one more secret," he said quietly, but with weight.

"The Six Eyes user before me… was killed by a Ten Shadows user. Or more precisely… by Mahoraga."

Tora was stunned—but only for a moment. Deep down, he had suspected it. But now, he had to play dumb.

'I have to look like someone desperate for knowledge… so he'll keep talking.'

Tora widened his eyes slightly, feigning surprise.

"Whoa… then… if a Ten Shadows user appears and actually manages to summon Mahoraga… you could lose?"

Gojo just smiled. A smile that went beyond confidence. It was the smile of someone who had stared death in the face… and was still standing.

"Well… I'd win."

Tora fell silent, then finally smiled.

A genuine smile—born from admiration and belief.

"I believe that."

________

Tora and Gojo Satoru.

The tension was palpable—not from battle aura, but from a conversation that touched the dark past of the jujutsu world.

Tora looked straight at Gojo. The young man's eyes burned with an uncontainable curiosity. He knew his next question was risky, but his desire for answers outweighed any fear.

In a calm yet firm voice, Tora asked,

"Where did the battle between the Six Eyes and Ten Shadows take place… if I may ask?"

For a moment, the air froze. Gojo's expression shifted. His relaxed smile vanished, replaced by a disgusted look—a mix of suspicion, cynicism, and perhaps a hint of anger hiding behind his pale blue eyes.

"Why do you want to know where they fought?" Gojo's voice dropped, heavy with pressure. "Planning to steal their corpses?"

His tone lashed out like a whip, but Tora didn't flinch. He flicked his hand dismissively, brushing off the accusation with a quick, almost mocking motion.

"Of course not, damn it… I just want to know."

His voice was annoyed, but clear—honest.

Gojo clicked his tongue and leaned against a nearby post. His gaze drifted skyward, as if recalling something even he wished to forget.

"Pointless," he finally said, his voice now flatter. "Their fight happened decades ago… Their bodies are probably just bones by now."

Those words echoed in Tora's head.

Bones…

Tora's mind raced, digging through memories of forbidden techniques known only to a cursed sorcerer who claimed to be his grandmother. A name surfaced in his thoughts—Granny Ogami.

'Granny Ogami… her Seance Technique…'

Tora closed his eyes, recalling the horrifying ritual he once read in a forbidden archive. Seance. The soul-summoning technique.

'It lets her summon the soul of the dead… and channel it into a body—hers or someone else's.'

Gruesome images flashed in his mind: a human body trembling as a foreign soul entered, bones cracking to adapt to new power, and eyes glowing with the spirit of another.

'To perform it, one thing is essential—the DNA of the person you want to summon. Without it, the spell won't work.'

Tora remembered that terrifying moment—when Granny Ogami's grandson, Geno, ate Toji Fushiguro's DNA. When Geno's body was consumed by her technique, Toji returned… but not as a puppet to be controlled.

Toji returned with a will of his own.

Even death couldn't suppress his will.

Tora opened his eyes. His gaze had changed—sharper, more calculating.

'If I know where that battle took place… maybe, just maybe… their DNA is still there. Maybe not whole, but enough.'

The wind stirred again, tossing strands of Tora's hair. He said nothing more, but his mind was now filled with new strategies.

Gojo, as if sensing the change in the air, narrowed his eyes.

"What's running through that filthy head of yours?"

But Tora only smiled faintly.

A smile that neither confirmed… nor denied.
