Just Entering Third Grade, and I'm a Cursed Dragon Knight?

Chapter 26: A Multiple Choice Question

After leaving the breakfast place.

Emma had to go to work, so she "entrusted" Sophia to Lucas's care.

The silly girl was naturally delighted.

At the residential complex entrance.

Sophia stood by the road waving at her sister's taillights, "Bye sister, Sophia will be good!"

Lucas yawned, rubbing his eyes.

He'd gotten up early and felt a bit sleepy.

"Lucas, Lucas, can I really go play at your house?" Sophia asked, wearing her little backpack with an adorably silly expression.

She'd asked several times along the way.

As if visiting his home was some sacred event.

Lucas walked toward his building with her.

Hearing this, he tugged one of Sophia's bouncing braids, then deliberately put on a stern face, "Actually, no."

Sophia froze completely, her face falling as she stopped her little legs, "Ah! Why not? But you just told sister it was okay!"

She immediately looked heartbroken, as if about to shatter, turning to leave.

"Then... Sophia will just cry and walk home alone."

"Sophia can manage alone, Lucas doesn't need to worry..."

Seeing her like this, Lucas's face darkened as he reached out to pinch her round cheeks.

"Alright, alright, I was just teasing. Are you trying to hint at something, hm?"

Sophia instantly brightened up again, shaking her head blankly.

"No, Sophia doesn't know how to hint at things! Lucas teases Sophia, and Sophia takes it seriously!"

Lucas was speechless, releasing the silly girl.

Honestly, he felt this silly girl's skills were improving, but her act was so convincing that he couldn't tell what was real anymore.

They walked through the park where the elderly were doing morning exercises.

The elders stopped their exercises, peering with aged eyes.

"Oh, young man, you've got a new little shadow following you? Another adorable little girl, what's this, another good friend?"

Lucas knew these mischievous elders would tease him, so he quickened his pace expressionlessly.

But hearing this, Sophia keenly caught the words "good friend," and couldn't move her little legs, grinning at the elders with her silly round face, very proud.

"Mm-hmm, hello grandpas, I'm Lucas's good friend!"

The elders roared with laughter at this silly girl.

"I knew this boy was something special. Just a few days and he's brought home another cute little wife, though she seems a bit silly."

Eh?

Sophia instantly froze, her face turning red as she shyly lowered her head, only hearing "little wife" and feeling absolutely delighted inside, though she still pouted trying to explain.

"Not... not yet... grandpas shouldn't make things up, we're just good friends!"

But the next second, she was picked up by one of Lucas's hands and carried away.

This silly girl, actually chatting with them.

Sophia hung obediently in Lucas's grip, her little mind spinning for a while before suddenly realizing something.

Wait, why did the grandpas say "another"?

Based on her limited knowledge.

"Another" meant again, implying there was a second one.

Just as she was thinking this and about to speak.

Lucas put her down in the hallway, "We're here."

Sophia's attention immediately shifted to the bright red door before her, with golden couplets pasted outside and an upside-down "fortune" character written in flowing calligraphy.

Her little heart was full of anticipation.

This was her first time visiting Lucas's home, and she wondered what it would be like behind the door.

Would it be like her sister's home?

But surely it would be cozy and nice.

After all, Aunt Sarah was so gentle.

While she was daydreaming.

Sophia noticed the door wasn't opening, so she asked curiously: "Lucas, Lucas, do we need to say 'open sesame'?"

Just then.

The sound of a key entering a lock and turning came from behind.

Followed by Lucas's helpless voice.

"Why are you standing in front of someone else's door? My door is behind you."

"Never mind 'open sesame,' even 'abracadabra' wouldn't work."

Sophia froze, her face turning red as she turned around and lowered her head, sticking out her little tongue, truly feeling embarrassed this time.

At that moment.

Lucas opened the door.

"Mom, I'm back."

"Pat pat pat."

Footsteps sounded from inside.

But instead of Sarah appearing first.

A beautiful little face came into view.

Luna.

She wore a light purple puffy dress today with a pink ribbon tied in the middle, her long hair slightly curled over her shoulders, looking cool and collected with sparkling eyes as she ran toward him.

Lucas's eyes widened, sensing trouble.

"Wait... wait."

"Thump!"

Luna threw herself into Lucas's embrace.

The momentum made Lucas step back twice, right in front of Sophia.

And Sophia, stared blankly at this scene.

At the same time.

Luna slowly raised her head from Lucas's embrace, looking cool.

About to speak, she met another pair of bright big eyes.

The two girls' eyes met.

The air went still.

Lucas felt his heart pounding.

Just then.

Sarah finally appeared, coming to the door with a smile, only to witness this scene.

Sarah's smile froze as she looked at her son, then at Sophia and Luna.

Meeting Lucas's pleading gaze.

She silently, slowly... retreated.

Son, you're beyond saving, just bury you.

Perhaps only seconds passed, or maybe minutes.

Sophia's weak voice broke the silence first, "Um... little sister Luna, could you let go of Lucas? Lucas said good friends can only hug for a moment, you've been hugging for so long, it's a bit much."

Hearing this, Luna's cool little face remained expressionless as she slowly released Lucas.

They didn't fight after all.

Lucas secretly sighed in relief.

Wait.

They're just good friends, why was he feeling guilty?

No, no.

Lucas realized his thoughts had gone astray.

Between good friends, hugging when meeting is normal, right?

Even if it's in front of another good friend.

That's still reasonable, right?

[As expected of you! The Dragon Emperor's charm is unstoppable, making Holy Maiden Sophia and Sorceress Luna draw swords at first sight. They say liking two people must be kept hidden, now that they've met, here's the question - whose little hand will you hold first?]

[If not handled properly, a world-ending battle might erupt between them!]

Hold hands?

Why hold hands?

Lucas looked at the two little ones standing properly in place, coughed, "Well, let's be clear, we're all good friends, and good friends should get along, no fighting or arguing, understand?"

Sophia nodded blankly with her silly face.

Luna, wearing her cool expression, also nodded slowly.

However, her unconscious kick of her fair leg.

Made Lucas's eye twitch slightly.

He remembered this girl had a dagger strapped to her leg.

"Good, now since this is the first official meeting between you two good friends, how about shaking hands? No problem, right?" Lucas continued his persuasion.

As his words fell, almost simultaneously.

Sophia and Luna didn't reach for each other's hands.

Instead, they extended their little hands toward Lucas.

One on the left, one on the right.

Like two different answers in a multiple choice question, laid out before him.

Lucas: ...
