Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Favoring Big Sisters, Avoiding Lolis
Two Liu A'dous.
Iselin finally figured it out—this had to be one of Liu's magic tricks. Magicians disappearing in one place and appearing in another? That was classic. There were always two people.
"Who are you?" she asked the fake Liu A'dou.
Ada Wong didn't answer. Instead, she strode to the edge of the building.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" Iselin quickly followed, but there was no catching up to a trained agent. She could only watch as Ada leapt from the helipad, vanishing off the edge of the building.
"What the hell...?" Iselin dropped to her knees at the edge and cautiously peeked down—only for a black shadow to suddenly shoot upward in front of her eyes. A figure dressed in a sleek black suit, not unlike Kaitou Kid's, but with a white shirt and the same triangular glider. The resemblance was uncanny.
Who was that?
Iselin was completely stunned. Gotham changed so fast, it felt like a different world every day.
"What are you staring at?" A familiar voice broke her daze. She looked up and saw Liu A'dou back in his regular clothes, gazing at her with innocent curiosity.
"Liu, just now… there was someone who looked exactly like you. He even sounded just like you. But he wasn't dressed like Kaitou Kid—he was in black. Who was he?" Iselin grabbed at Liu as if he were the only person who could solve the mystery. "Tell me—who was that?"
"What guy in black? Who looked like me?" Liu A'dou played dumb.
Since he couldn't figure out how to deal with his feelings for Iselin, he decided it was better to keep a little distance. Some things didn't need to be explained—especially for her safety.
"You're pretending to be confused, huh?" Iselin had already realized things weren't the same anymore. Since coming back, she could feel the change. Liu A'dou was no longer just a caring, protective companion—he was now Gotham's hero. Someone she had to look up to. So when he gave her that evasive look, even though she knew he was bluffing, she didn't push further. "Forget it. Let's just finish our work and go home."
Liu A'dou was more than happy to let the topic drop.
Howard, thrilled with their performance, couldn't stop grinning and told them to go home early and sleep in the next day.
Iselin left first, driving away in the new BMW her father had bought her. Liu A'dou, meanwhile, rumbled down the road in his beat-up secondhand car, getting home around midnight.
Tonight had been pure chaos. Bane, for all his smarts, was too confident in his brute strength. He'd underestimated the heroes of Gotham and thought no one could stop him. Getting knocked out in one blow—well, he deserved it.
Still, Liu A'dou didn't feel satisfied. Despite fighting Bane, he hadn't really enjoyed the battle.
"Seems like after mastering Ripple, I've gotten way stronger. Normal people aren't a match for me anymore," he muttered. "Can't sleep anyway—might as well go out for a walk."
So he dove into the cold wind and took to the skies, gliding through the air with no destination. He just wanted to fight someone. His battle spirit had been lit by Bane—but with nowhere to release it, he was beyond frustrated.
And as if fate had heard his call, a blinding flash of light suddenly shot up from the ground, ripping open the sky.
Right in his flight path.
The beam struck directly at the center of his glider.
Liu A'dou jolted in shock. He was flying at an altitude of at least three hundred meters—who had aimed at him from the ground, and how had they thrown a long spear this high? Because that's what the light was: a spear, glinting at the tip as it cut through the sky.
Fortunately, Liu's instincts were sharp. He twisted his glider just in time to avoid the strike. With one hand, he adjusted the magnification on his monocle—zooming in on the attacker.
It was that weird girl he'd seen earlier on the rooftop.
Figures.
That "figures" had two meanings. First, that girl really wasn't normal. Second, it proved a longstanding truth about Liu A'dou: he got along great with mature women, but not with lolis.
Back in the Detective Conan world, he'd always had trouble with lolis and shota types. It seemed this odd affinity—or allergy—carried over to Gotham too.
Yep. Liu A'dou had confirmed it long ago: his fate was to be loved by big sisters and feared by little sisters.
After coming to this world, Liu A'dou thought that troublesome trait of his had disappeared—but nope. The moment finally came. A hostile loli had arrived at last.
He retracted his glider and descended with the wind, landing directly in front of the girl. The long spear that had been thrown at him bent in midair and returned to her hands like a boomerang. Now it was planted on the ground, and the tiny girl glared at him.
"Who the heck are you?" Liu A'dou thought, Could this be another fake loli with the heart of a middle-aged woman?
The girl kicked her spear into the air, twirling it into a whirlwind. With a final spin, she pointed the tip directly at Liu A'dou. Her soft voice rang out, "I just want to fight you. No need for names."
…That spear was clearly made of solid metal, and definitely not light. But in her petite hands, it was spun around like a toy.
"This is the Zhu Lu Spear. Six feet long, thirty kilograms," she said proudly.
"Zhu Lu?" That was definitely Chinese. Liu A'dou repeated it aloud.
Hearing his flawless Mandarin, the girl smiled wider. She'd already suspected this man was using inner power when he defeated Bane. Now that she heard him speak so fluently, it confirmed it—he had to be Chinese. No mistake.
Switching to Chinese herself, the girl declared, "Kaitou Kid, come on! Don't let me down. I crave a fight with the strong."
Liu A'dou stared at her, thinking, Am I really going to end up bullying little girls again? He looked to the sky with a sigh. God, bullying lolis is just… so satisfying.
"You want a fight? Then let's fight."
"Great!" She spun her spear. "Then here I come!"
And just like that, they started battling—in fluent Chinese.
The spear's tip moved like lightning. Liu A'dou could practically see seven or eight afterimages lunging at him at once.
This girl was clearly stronger than Bane. Liu A'dou didn't dare underestimate her. He weaved through the spear's shadow using quick footwork, sidestepping and slipping closer.
The girl smirked. A good counteroffensive—classic move. Her spear froze for a second, then swept sideways with tremendous force. Liu A'dou thrust both hands forward, firing golden Ripple energy into the shaft.
Ripple of the Immortal Path—Golden Pulse Surge!
The gold light danced down the spear toward her, but it weakened with every inch due to the conductive nature of the metal. Still, the energy was strong enough to reach her.
Her eyes flashed. She bared her small tiger-like fangs, and a milky white force surged from her palms to meet the incoming wave.
Liu A'dou raised his brows. As expected, this girl's no joke.
The two forces met on the iron spear—and then, something incredible happened. The Ripple arcs and the white inner energy fused, spiraling into a new wave that shot into the air before exploding midflight.
BOOM—
Both of them staggered back a few steps but remained unharmed. Ripple and inner energy alike had shielded their bodies.
"What kind of power is that?" the girl asked, surprised.
"And what kind of power do you have?" Liu A'dou countered.
"You mean… you don't know about inner energy?!" she blurted out—then immediately regretted it.
Now Liu A'dou understood. "So that's what it is… inner energy."
"Now it's your turn to explain," she said, trying to even the score after accidentally leaking information.
But Liu A'dou wasn't falling for it. In the blink of an eye, he launched another attack. She hadn't expected that. Most people froze or hesitated before charging at a cute little girl—but not Liu A'dou.
Caught off guard, she suddenly felt golden Ripple energy flick against her red vest.
The girl quickly leapt back, clutching her chest with an angry glare. "What kind of gentleman touches a lady's chest?! Pervert!"
Liu A'dou laughed. "Do you even have a chest? Besides, I didn't touch anything. At most, I brushed your hair."
She nearly exploded. Stomping her feet, she whipped her spear around and lunged, aiming to take Liu A'dou's life.
But he stomped too—and unleashed yellow Earth Ripple, faster than her weapon. The brick floor beneath her instantly surged, knocking her balance off.
Liu A'dou used that moment to vanish.
He'd already gotten what he came for—during that brief "accidental" contact, he had stolen a memory card from her pocket.
"Get back here!" the girl shouted from behind him.
But it was no use. There was no catching Kaitou Kid.
