Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Madara’s Offer

On the other side, in a dark and cold cave.

Obito was attacked inexplicably, and when he opened his eyes, he found himself here.

He stared at the old man with white hair and a haggard face sitting on a wooden chair in front of him, a confused expression plastered across his face.

What's going on?

Could it be that his aura of respecting the elderly had activated again—and this time he was directly ganked by the old man?

"Where is this?"

"Who are you?"

"Why did you bring me here?"

Obito unleashed a one-button triple combo of questions.

The old man looked weak, his eyes half-closed as he glanced at Obito. An ancient voice rasped from his lips:

"Little brat of the Uchiha clan, I am your former clan leader—Uchiha Madara."

"What?!" Obito was stunned. "Weren't you killed by the First Hokage a long time ago?!"

He'd heard the legend of Madara from Kakashi long ago. It was so dramatic that it had etched itself deeply into his memory.

Now this was… what? Resurrection?

Madara's mouth twitched, and his face instantly darkened like the bottom of a burnt pot.

Beaten to death by Hashirama?

I'll give you one more chance to phrase that, kid. Say it wrong again, and I'll be the one killing you this time.

"Heh. Kid, I just used a little trick to fake my death to achieve my goal."

"That tree-hugging softie Hashirama got played."

Madara scoffed in disdain.

With Hashirama's power level, could he kill him?

Well… it wasn't impossible...

But in terms of brains? Please. Madara gave him half a brain just to be fair.

Why is Hashirama so disgustingly strong? Obviously because he sacrificed all his IQ points to get those muscles and Mokuton powers.

Otherwise, who in their right mind would believe world peace could be achieved by handing out Tailed Beasts like coupons and begging everyone to be friends?

Naïve fool.

As Madara thought about his intellectual superiority, he felt a bit better.

"Anyway, the reason I brought you here is simple. After a long search, I've found you're the only Uchiha currently alive who's suitable to inherit my power and ideals."

"The rest are just ants, blinded by their own mediocrity."

Madara was still salty about being called dead earlier, but he kept things civil for now.

"Really? Yeah, no—I don't believe it."

Obito shook his head skeptically.

Kakashi said Madara was dead. So Madara was dead.

The old man in front of him? Just some actor trying to scam him with a good cosplay and a gravelly voice.

You think you can trick Uchiha Obito with a few fancy lines?

People may call him dumb, but he has moments of brilliance, okay?

Just when Obito thought he'd seen through the deception—

The white-haired, seemingly harmless old man's pupils suddenly changed!

Yin and Yang reversed—an immense pupil force surged outward.

A ray of ultimate, blood-red light bloomed in Madara's eyes.

Three tomoe. Sharingan!

"Wait, are you really… an elder of my clan?!"

Obito was finally shaken.

You can fake a name, a voice—even a backstory.

But you cannot fake a real Uchiha Sharingan.

Only true blood of the Uchiha could awaken it!

"Oh, kid. Now you believe it, don't you?"

Madara looked satisfied as Obito's eyes widened in shock.

"Maybe you are Madara-senpai. After all, no one else from the clan has ever left the village..."

Obito muttered.

"But, I'm sorry, Madara-senpai."

"Although I'm honored you chose me, I have to go!"

"My mission's not over yet—Kakashi and Rin are still waiting for me!"

Obito had managed to calm his shock, responding seriously.

Truth be told, Madara's offer was tempting.

According to Kakashi, this man had once been the strongest Uchiha ever!

Rival to a god, nearly the First Hokage—legendary didn't even begin to cover it.

But Kakashi and Rin were still out there. They needed him. He wouldn't abandon them.

"Ah, about that..."

The white humanoid creature who had used Earth Style to bring Obito here from miles away suddenly spoke.

"Based on the reports from other White Zetsu, your teammates aren't exactly looking for you."

"Actually, they left the area and blew up Kannabi Bridge under the lead of that lightning flasher."

"And while you were stuck here, that guy—Kakashi—wiped out hundreds of Iwa Chūnin by himself."

"Kind of makes you… extra?"

Kakashi wiped out hundreds of ninja… alone?!

Obito was struck silent.

He'd always known there was a gap between him and Kakashi.

But after some mentoring from Minato-sensei, he thought he was closing in.

If what White Zetsu said was true—what chance did he have of catching up?

Hundreds of Chūnin in one battle?

That's not a gap.

That's a Grand Canyon.

Kakashi's voice echoed in Obito's memory like a ghost with snark:

"I didn't say I killed them all at once. I gave 'em a head start—just to make it fair."

The image of Kakashi dramatically sighing while slicing through enemy shinobi one-handed with his hair still perfect flashed in his mind.

Madara, always perceptive, caught Obito's inner conflict instantly.

"Haha, kid. You look like someone just unplugged your will to live."

"Let me make you an offer."

"Accept me as your teacher, and I'll pass down everything I've learned in my life."

"Not just the Uchiha's Fire Style, but also Yin-Yang Release, favored by the Sage of Six Paths himself."

"I'll even help you unlock the strongest power hidden in your Sharingan."

"Once you've mastered it, crushing the Five Kage would be as easy as stepping on ants. What are a few Chūnin to someone like that?"

A powerful aura surged around Madara as he spoke, echoing his once glorious days beside Hashirama.

Back then, even the Nine Tails were mere toys to him.

"But..."

Madara's voice dripped with temptation, slowly weaving itself into Obito's thoughts.

"The mission is done. If you go back now, you'll only trail behind, watching their backs."

"But if you inherit my power—you'll surpass them easily."

"And when you return to the village, they'll be the ones looking up to you."

Then, Madara's tone shifted.

"You don't have to doubt my intentions."

"I'm just a dying old man hoping to leave behind a legacy. What reason would I have to lie?"

"And... from the moment you arrived, I sealed the only exit."

"If you don't become my disciple—then you'll be stuck here. With me. Forever."

"...Ah?!"

"...Well... okay, then."

Finally, Obito sighed and gave in.

"But I have three conditions."

"When I finish learning, I go back immediately."

He made up his mind.

Since he couldn't leave now, he'd learn everything as fast as possible and then return.

That way, Kakashi and Rin wouldn't have to worry about him anymore.

And maybe...

Just maybe...

He could surprise them, too.
