Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Yagura, Water Style GOAT?

"Your real self is really a handful."

Kakashi looked at Yagura, now encased in his self-made water prison, unscathed and annoyingly smug.

He let out a long sigh and turned to the mirror image of Yagura still beside him.

And casually gave it a head pat.

Honestly, with a height like 143cm, it would be a crime not to.

Yagura, mid-seal while dismantling his defenses, caught the scene from the corner of his eye—and something inside him cracked.

The crescent-shaped smile.

The tender hand pat.

It was... infuriating.

This wasn't mockery. It was mockery with a side of condescension.

In an instant, the Mizukage mask of calm grace shattered.

"You're dead."

"Water Style: Water Doppelgänger Jutsu!"

Yagura's hands flashed through seals. A clone identical to him sprang forth, water dripping off it like a peeled peach.

Then the two of them leaped simultaneously—the clone beelining for the mirror Yagura, while the real one made a straight line for Kakashi.

Yagura opened with a sharp roundhouse to the chest.

Kakashi blocked it, mostly because he was still processing how elegant the guy's rotation was.

Then, mid-spin, Yagura twisted his waist and swept the coral club toward Kakashi's skull.

Kakashi drew his blade just in time, the metal catching coral with a clang.

"Oh great, now it's a dance-off."

But things got weirder. As the coral staff spun, it stirred up chakra-infused water into a spinning mass.

Wait—was that a jutsu?

Kakashi's internal alarms lit up. He flipped backward out of range, not waiting to find out if it was going to turn into a jacuzzi or an impromptu funeral.

Yagura didn't let up. Leaping into the air, he brought his coral club down with a shout:

"Coral Uprising!"

Yeah, that definitely sounded like a move with bad intentions.

From the point of impact, coral surged up like a demonic staircase, each platform trying to body-check Kakashi mid-air.

Kakashi, still airborne, stared at the rising reef.

"Hard pass."

"Flying Thunder God!"

With a shimmer, he warped out using a previously marked kunai—well away from coral-crunch range.

But his mirror image? Not so lucky.

Busy brawling with the water clone, the mirror Yagura was sideswiped by the coral wave. Coral burst from his body, immobilizing him.

Then came the inevitable.

Crack!

The coral club descended.

Mirror Yagura: deleted.

"…Yup. Gonna file that one under 'do not touch.'"

The next moment, the two Yaguras shimmered, disappearing in twin water flashes—appearing instantly on either side of Kakashi.

"Coral Palm!"

Their hands struck in perfect sync—front and back—landing cleanly.

Bang!

Kakashi's body seized up. Coral sprouted from his torso like some cursed garden, completely covering him in seconds.

Yagura exhaled.

"Got him."

Except…

Sizzle—

The Kakashi statue sparked.

In a flash of lightning, it exploded, surging through Yagura's body, paralyzing him instantly.

A familiar voice followed:

"Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu."

From below, Kakashi's hands shot up, grabbing Yagura's ankles.

Yagura didn't even have time to swear before he was yanked into the earth like a weed, only his head left exposed.

"Chidori."

Kakashi surfaced like a ghost, crouching low, his hand a blade of crackling blue.

He rammed it straight into Yagura's—

Splash.

Water.

Of course.

"Water Style: Water Prison Technique!"

A voice rang out behind him.

Before Kakashi could turn, he was engulfed in a sphere of water—Chakra-infused, dense, airtight.

"Perfect," Kakashi muttered through bubbles. "Just what I wanted. Underwater brunch."

Still, he remained calm.

And held his breath.

He rewound the last few seconds in his mind—right before he had submerged underground, Yagura must've swapped with his clone using Body Replacement.

"Note to self," Kakashi thought. "Never trust anyone shorter than Rin."

No time for complaints, though.

"Water Style: Five Eating Sharks!"

Yagura slapped the water surface with his palm.

Five chakra-shaped sharks erupted around the sphere and lunged at Kakashi from all angles.

"Okay, now it's a party."

Kakashi whirled in the confined space, kicking, punching, and redirecting two of the sharks. They dispersed into water—but reformed instantly.

Regenerative water sharks.

Because of course they regenerate.

Must've been Kisame's signature, but seeing it used by Yagura only made sense. Mizukage, after all. Maybe Kisame learned it from him?

Didn't matter.

Because there was one thing Water Prison couldn't hold.

Space.

Swish!

As the five sharks converged again, Kakashi vanished in a shimmer of light.

"Hatake Sword Technique: Sealing Thunder Slash!"

Appearing above the prison, Kakashi descended in a streak of lightning, blade-first, like divine judgment.

Yagura had already submerged himself in defense.

Splash!

A single stroke of lightning cleaved the water prison in half.

Yagura twisted just in time to avoid a fatal hit, but the gash across his chest was deep—bone-deep.

And painful.

Very, very painful.

"Hatake Sword Technique: Thunder Flash: Six Strikes!"

No breathing room.

Kakashi charged again, zigzagging like an electric eel, blade buzzing with lethal intent.

"Water Style: Water Barrier!"

Desperation made Yagura fast. One hand seal, lightning-fast execution.

Fifteen meters of dense, rotating water rose like a wall of ocean.

Sharks swam inside—his Five Shark Jutsu fused with the barrier itself. A wall and a weapon.

Yagura coughed blood.

But the wall held.

Kakashi, mid-charge, pulled back.

Even he couldn't afford to get trapped again.

"Tch. Looks like someone finally installed a firewall."

He stared at the impenetrable dome.

Then smirked.

"Yagura... I've fought a lot of water-style users in my day."

He twirled his sword once, then pointed the tip casually toward the wall.

"But among them all, I think I'd like to call you the strongest."

Spurt!

A second mouthful of blood burst from Yagura's mouth—this time from rage.

That patronizing tone.

That senior-to-junior pat on the ego.

How dare he?!

Not the pat on the head again, please not again.

To be continued...
