Kamen Rider in DC

Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Haruka exhaled deeply, his shoulders relaxing as he approached Kara in the school hallway. The exams were finally over, and he felt cautiously optimistic about his performance.

"Hey, Kara," he greeted his friend, offering a small smile. "How did you do on the tests?"

Kara's face lit up with a proud grin. "I aced them, of course!" she declared, her blue eyes shining with confidence. "I was a little worried about the history exam, but I think I managed to pull it off."

Haruka chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "That's great, Kara. I'm sure you did amazing."

"What about you?" Kara asked, tilting her head curiously. "How do you think you did?"

Haruka shrugged, his expression a mix of relief and uncertainty. "I think I should be able to pass, at least. The math section was a bit tricky, but I studied hard, so I'm hopeful."

Kara nodded, her smile softening. "I'm sure you did great. You've been working really hard, and I know you've got this."

Haruka felt a warmth spread through his chest at Kara's encouragement. Despite the challenges he had faced, both in his studies and his secret role as the Kamen Rider, her unwavering support meant more to him than he could express.

"Thanks, Kara," he said sincerely. "I appreciate you being there for me."

Kara beamed, her gaze filled with genuine care. "Of course, Haruka. That's what friends are for, right?"

Kara asked, "So, are you going to be traveling to different cities for your summer break?"

Haruka nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Yeah, my parents actually gave me permission to take a road trip. I'm planning on visiting Star City first."

Kara's face fell slightly, her expression a mix of disappointment and understanding. "Oh, that's a shame. I was hoping we could hang out in Metropolis together during the break."

Haruka felt a twinge of regret at seeing Kara's crestfallen look. "I know, I'm sorry about that. But I really want to take advantage of this opportunity to explore on my own, you know?" He paused, then added, "Maybe we can plan something for when I get back?"

Kara's eyes lit up at the suggestion, and she nodded enthusiastically. "Definitely! I'd love that." She grinned, her usual bubbly energy returning. "In the meantime, I'll just have to enjoy Metropolis without you."

Haruka chuckled, the tension in his shoulders easing. "You'll have to tell me all about it when I get back. Maybe you'll even spot Superman while you're there."

Haruka watched as Kara's grin widened, her eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief. "You have no idea," she said confidently, leaving Haruka puzzled by the implication.

Before he could inquire further, Kara's expression softened, and she placed a hand on his arm. "But I'm sure you'll have an amazing time on your trip. Just promise me you'll stay safe, okay?"

Haruka felt a warmth spread through him at her concern. "I will, Kara. I promise." He paused, then added, "And you better stay out of trouble while I'm gone."

Kara let out a lighthearted laugh, her smile infectious. "No promises," she teased. The two friends shared a moment of easy camaraderie, and Haruka couldn't help but feel grateful for her presence in his life.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of the day, Kara gave Haruka's arm a gentle squeeze. "Well, I guess this is goodbye for now. But we'll keep in touch, right?"

Haruka nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Definitely. I'll make sure to call you once I get to Star City."

"It's a deal!" Kara beamed, her excitement palpable. "Have an amazing time, Haruka. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back."

With a final wave, Kara turned and made her way down the hall, leaving Haruka to ponder the enigmatic nature of her earlier statement. As he watched her go, he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation for the adventures that awaited him on his journey.

Haruka sat in the airport terminal, his backpack resting at his feet as he gazed out the window at the bustling activity outside. The thought of visiting Star City filled him with a mix of excitement and trepidation.

He had done his research, knowing that the city was a complex blend of wealth, power, and darkness. While the gleaming skyscrapers and affluent neighborhoods suggested an outward image of prosperity, Haruka was all too aware of the underlying issues that plagued the city - high crime rates, corruption, and deep social inequalities.

As the Kamen Rider, Haruka had faced his fair share of challenges, but the thought of confronting the villains of Star City made him slightly uneasy. He knew that Green Arrow and Speedy, the city's vigilante heroes, were formidable, but he couldn't help but wonder if he would be truly prepared for what awaited him.

Haruka let out a sigh, running a hand through his messy hair. "I guess I'll just have to see what fate has in store for me," he murmured to himself, his eyes scanning the departure board for any updates on his flight.

Just then, a voice came over the intercom, announcing the boarding call for his flight to Star City. Haruka took a deep breath, steeling his nerves as he stood up, shouldering his backpack. This was his chance to prove himself, to make a difference in a city that desperately needed a hero.

As he made his way towards the boarding gate, Haruka couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. He knew that the challenges he would face in Star City would be unlike anything he had encountered before, but he was determined to rise to the occasion.

Haruka presented his ticket and passport to the attendant, who smiled and gestured for him to proceed. With a nod, he stepped onto the plane, his mind racing with the possibilities that awaited him in Star City.

"Guess I'm about to find out just how lucky or unlucky I am," he murmured under his breath, taking his seat and settling in for the flight.

Haruka stepped off the plane, his backpack slung over one shoulder as he made his way through the bustling Star City airport terminal. As he approached the exit, he couldn't help but notice the large crowd gathered outside, their attention focused on something he couldn't quite make out.

Curious, Haruka slowed his pace, squinting his eyes to get a better look. He soon realized that the crowd consisted of reporters and security guards, their cameras and voices creating a commotion that seemed to be drawing a lot of attention.

Haruka paused, his brow furrowing as he tried to determine the cause of the commotion. Whatever was happening outside, it seemed to be significant enough to warrant such a strong presence of media and law enforcement.

Haruka's eyes widened as he overheard the commotion. Someone named Perdita Vladek was arriving in Star City? That piqued his interest. As part of the royalty of Vlatava, a small but influential Eastern European country, her presence here must be significant.

Drawn by the crowd's excitement, Haruka edged closer, trying to catch a glimpse of the arriving dignitary. He wondered what could have brought such a figure to this bustling American city. Was it a diplomatic visit, or perhaps something more pressing?

Haruka's curiosity got the better of him, and he found himself moving towards the exit, determined to see this Perdita Vladek for himself. Whatever the reason for her arrival, he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation about the potential opportunities that might arise.

Haruka's eyes widened as he caught sight of Perdita Vladek, the young lady of Vlatava, surrounded by a contingent of suited guards. Despite her regal bearing, there was a nervous tension in her posture as she navigated the bustling airport.

Perdita was strikingly beautiful, with long, platinum-blonde hair that cascaded past her shoulders, framing a face of delicate features. Her pale complexion and vibrant green eyes gave her an almost ethereal quality, belying her youth. Haruka was surprised to see someone so young in such a position of power.

As Perdita approached, Haruka could sense her discomfort with the situation. She seemed to be scanning the crowd with an air of apprehension, as if expecting some form of threat. Haruka couldn't help but wonder what could have brought her to Star City and what challenges she might be facing.

Haruka watched as the reporters swarmed around Perdita, their cameras flashing incessantly. Perdita's discomfort was palpable, and Haruka couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for her.

Suddenly, Haruka's eyes widened as he noticed the bodyguards around Perdita being taken out one by one. He tensed, ready to spring into action if necessary. The remaining guards quickly formed a protective barrier around the queen, their eyes scanning the crowd for the source of the attack.

"I just arrived, and I'm already caught up in an incident," Haruka murmured; he couldn't help but wonder what was happening and who was behind this assault on the Vlatavan royalty.
