Chapter 36: The Parliament House

It was the Fifth Day of the Germans' invasion…

The location we are now is in the city of Canberra, the capital of English Australis.

This city is a city that reeks of money. Tall buildings towered the people. Cars and public transportations were seen littering the streets. Literally this might be the richest city in the continent, save from the German Australis' capital.

In the middle of the city, one particular building stands out. This building is surrounded by greenery, parks mostly, with a blue lake neighbouring such parks.

This building is known by people as the Parliament House.

This building is used by the leaders of the people as a meeting room, where laws are deliberated, decided, and made.

In one such room, tons of people are inside a room…. It was full of people, packed to the brim. All the seats were full, some were standing.

"What do we do?! Our military base was easily overrun!"

"Yes! Please do something about the German bitches! They are ruining our country!

"As if it's not ruined already."

"WHAT DID YOU SAY? YOU BLOODY BASTARD?!"

"Well, I was just stating the facts."

"FACTS? FACTS? FUCK YOU!"

"Yeah? Fuck me? Nah."

The atmosphere inside the room was intense. Both sides were fighting against each other…. But clearly, the people who patronize the Germans are in the minority… This particular set of people knows the might and strength of the Germans… Their people had committed a terrible mistake… and they knew they would suffer from it…

By siding with the Germans, these people know that their punishment would be lessened…. We do not know why these people did this… maybe it's for their own families, or maybe for the welfare of their people…

Going back, in the middle of this particular room is the most powerful person in the country, the prime minister…

The prime minister of the country is at a loss…. He knew that their German counterpart had a strong army… He knew… yet they were still underestimated….

The chirping of both sides crushed the Prime Minister's ears…. The surroundings were in an uproar… Both sides passionately fight for their own side….

"We need to gather more men! Prime Minister! Please send a general conscription order to the cities and provinces!"

"For what? We would lose anyway. Might as well persevere in saving the lives of our citizens, since they wanted this as well!"

"What did you say?! You think of our countrymen as cowards?!"

"No, I think they knew how strong the enemies were. They are cowering… in fear… that one day, their lives would be forfeited, by sending our young to the frontlines! Please make the right choice, Prime Minister!"

"Fear? FEAR?! True Australians know no fear! We fight with kangaroos on a daily basis! What can mere German bitches do to us?!"

"SILENCE!"

The Prime Minister stood and slammed his desk. He then looked around the room and glanced at the councilor's faces.

The room turned into an unusual silent scenery… It was the first time seeing the Prime Minister this fierce….

The Prime Minister looked at the two sides of the room… He looked at the conservatives, those who wanted to fight for their country.

These idiots who know no fear but idiocy…. All they say was bravery, commitment, etc. yet here they are, scared and cowering under the skirt of this building instead of fighting themselves in the battlefield.

He then looked at the other side, the minority side. This side are the people who wanted to embrace the germans. They wanted to surrender… even without a fight…

Another bunch of idiots who do not fight for their own country. These idiots wanted to save themselves from the incoming conflict that's why they opted to surrender…. Scared shits who only know how to shit and piss in front of danger.

Damn… I think I need to call the 'church'....

The Prime Minister cleared his throat by coughing and spoke.

"Fights like ours would lead to nothing. We need to be united on a common goal so as not to be killed ourselves."

He then looked at the conservative people.

"Please refrain from speaking any harsh words towards your fellow countrymen, that is akin to fighting with ourselves."

"But Prime Min-"

"Even! if they advocate for the other side… That is their take and that is what they want. We cannot control a person's choices. We cannot control what they want, and what they need to do."

He then looked at the other side, the people who advocated for the English surrender…

"You guys on the other hand, please be courteous with our words. Although we have freedom to speak, we still need to exercise caution on what we speak. Advocating for our nation's surrender is… bad."

The minority side looked away.

The Prime Minister let out a weary sigh as he rubbed his temples. The weight of the entire nation bore down on him, and despite his attempt at maintaining control, the chaos in the room still simmered beneath the surface. He knew that no matter what decision was made, half of the people here would despise him for it.

Before he could speak again, one of the senior ministers stood up, his face red with frustration.

"Prime Minister, we cannot simply sit here and do nothing! If we do not fight back, the Germans will take everything from us!" he shouted.

"And if we fight, we lose more than just our pride…"

A calmer voice interjected. It was one of the few who advocated for surrender.

"... The military bases have been overrun one by one. Our supply lines are breaking. Our citizens are afraid, and we cannot hold them off with nothing but empty bravado!"

The room exploded into another shouting match. Insults were hurled, fists pounded against wooden desks, and tempers flared higher than ever before.

The Prime Minister let them shout. Let them argue. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, thinking about the reports he had received just hours earlier. Ballarat had fallen. The enemy was advancing toward Melbourne with terrifying efficiency. Their supply lines were secured, and despite desperate attempts to hold ground, every counteroffensive they attempted had been crushed.

If Melbourne fell, then Canberra would be next. And if Canberra fell, the entire nation would collapse.

He exhaled deeply before raising his hand.

"Enough."

The room hesitated for a brief moment, before quieting once more.

"Enough of this childish bickering. We cannot afford to be divided. We cannot afford to act out of pride or fear. We must act with strategy. We must act with intelligence. And most importantly, we must act now."

He straightened his posture and looked each minister in the eye, his voice calm but unwavering.

"A general conscription order will be issued. Every able-bodied man will be required to report for military service. We need numbers, and we need them fast."

The conservatives cheered, but the Prime Minister silenced them with a single glance.

"At the same time, we will open secret negotiations with the Germans."

The room fell into stunned silence.

"WHAT?!" one of the conservatives roared. "How dare you even suggest—"

"Silence."

The Prime Minister commanded, his voice colder than before.

"Do you think I am a fool? Do you think I do not understand what is happening? We are losing this war. That is the reality. But we do not have to lose our country."

He leaned forward, resting both hands on the table.

"If we surrender outright, we become nothing. If we fight blindly, we die as nothing. But if we play this game correctly… if we make them think that we are willing to resist, while secretly ensuring that we secure favorable terms… then we may still have a future."

There was an eerie silence in the room. Even those who had been shouting moments ago had nothing to say.

The Prime Minister turned to one of his aides.

"Send a message to our remaining forces. They are to defend Melbourne at all costs. Hold the city for as long as they can."

Then, he turned to a different aide.

"Prepare a delegation. We will send an envoy to the Germans. Discreetly."

"Understood, Prime Minister."

As the aides approached the door, the doors to the room immediately opened wide. The aides were knocked down to the floor, surprised, by the people outside.

The people outside are wearing a military uniform. However…. It is not the military uniform they knew….

Military personnel… wearing black overalls were there, standing just outside the door…. On their uniforms, blotches of red substance can be seen.

The people inside the room also noticed red liquid scattering the outside floor. Entrails of unknown stuff were also seen scattered through the floor.

Without further ado, the military personnel rushed inside. Of course, the people inside were surprised…

They knew these people… they are the so-called devils… Devils who dominate the battlefield wherever they go… Their leader and vice-leader themselves… are devils incarnate.

The military personnel walked inside and stood on all the corners and sides of the room.

The people inside were trembling… scared… their previous bravado was gone… The people on the other side noticed this, and smirked and laughed at them.

The Prime Minister himself was scared too… so he spoke.

"W-what are you doing here?!"

The soldiers in black spoke nothing. They just stood straight, guns at the ready….

"Tell me?! Isn't proper decorum suggesting that no military personnel can come to a meeting of the leaders?!"

"Maybe, I can answer that."

A voice was heard from the direction of the door.

The whole lobby directed their focus on this person and… they were shocked to say the least.

There he was… the devil's incarnate… Beside him is also another devil… Known as the Devil of Rhine. This person, although a kid, blew heads left and right, even without batting an eyelid…

"Y-y-your Highness! What is the meaning of this?"

The devil, also known as Felix, continued to walk until he reached the podium that was in front of all these people.

"By the way, the phrase that you said earlier… Hmm, what was that again? Proper decorum? You know as well as I do… that's bullshit."

The Prime Minister gulped.

Felix continued speaking.

"Proper decorum does not exist in this room…. It is dead the minute this room turned into an auction house. Hmm… an auction house huh? Nice analogy me! Good job me!"

Felix let out a small chuckle, his eyes glinting with amusement as he clapped his hands together mockingly. The Prime Minister, drenched in cold sweat, felt his throat tighten as he watched the young devil revel in the tension of the room.

Tanya, standing beside Felix, smirked as she leaned casually against the podium, her piercing purplish blue eyes sweeping over the gathered officials like a predator surveying prey.

"Auction house is putting it lightly, Your Highness, It's more like a circus, and the clowns don't even know they're performing."

The room was dead silent. No one dared to speak. Even the once-vocal ministers who had been shouting moments earlier seemed to have lost their voices.

Felix sighed, feigning disappointment.

"And here I thought you'd all keep yelling at each other like children. What happened? Where's that burning patriotism? That unyielding bravery? Weren't you the same people who, just days ago, were screaming about how 'true Australians know no fear'?"

He let the words hang in the air, reveling in the sheer discomfort of those before him. His voice then dropped, laced with venom...

"Let me tell you something. True Australians do feel fear. That's why they're running. That's why your people are surrendering in droves. They know what's coming. They understand what you fools refuse to acknowledge."

The Prime Minister clenched his fists….

"And what exactly do you want from us? To kneel? To beg for mercy?"

Felix tilted his head.

 "Mercy?" He chuckled.

"That depends entirely on how much you're willing to cooperate."

Tanya took a step forward.

"We aren't here to negotiate terms with you like some diplomatic tea party. We're here to dictate reality. Canberra will fall. That much is certain. Your military is broken, your people are disillusioned, and your government is in shambles. The only question left is how much blood you want on your hands before the inevitable happens."

One of the more defiant councilmen slammed his fist on the table.

"You damn Germans think you can just march in here and take everything?! This is our country! We will fight to the last man!"

Felix's expression darkened, and in a blink, he was in front of the minister…. Before anyone could react, he grabbed the man by the collar and pulled him close, his golden eyes burning with cold fury.

"To the last man? Funny. You say that now, but I doubt you'll be the one on the front lines, bleeding out in the mud."

He released the minister with a slight shove, making him stumble back into his seat. ..

"Your people don't need martyrs. They need leaders who actually care about their survival."

Felix turned his attention back to the Prime Minister. …

"So, I'll ask you one last time. Will you stand against us and watch your nation burn? Or will you surrender and salvage what little dignity you have left?"

The Prime Minister felt his chest tighten. He looked around at the faces of his ministers, at the silent fear in their eyes…. No one spoke. No one dared to.

Finally, he exhaled sharply, shoulders sagging as the weight of his decision pressed down upon him.

"..... What are your terms….?"

Felix smiled widely.

"This… this is our terms."

Felix snapped his fingers. The military personnel inside the room knew what to do. They immediately scattered and went towards each of the defiant councilmen.

The councilmen who were approached were scared to death… They thought they would die there and there but…. Instead…. They were handed a pistol….

This greatly confused the people…. They were wondering why they were handed a pistol… Even the Prime minister seems confused. Their minds wandered through numerous situations…. But they don't seem to make sense…

They also noticed that the councilmen who wanted to surrender to the Germans were not handed anything, instead, they were led outside the door…

The councilmen looked again at the pistol in front of them… It was of English make… Oh how they wish they could just grab it and shoot the Prince right there and there….

"You just thought of picking up the gun and shooting me right?"

The councilmen shuddered…. They couldn't stop shaking… They were read through by the Prince…

Looking at this, Felix just smiled.

"Don't worry… You'll get to use it later."

Felix gave them another smile, and winked at them.

The councilmen's heads were full of question…

"What do you mean by that, Your highness?"

Felix still smiled at them.

"Later."

He then snapped his fingers another time, and the door opened.

There, a nerdy looking person was seen. He was a person who had the typical look of a nerd… with large glasses and with clothes that were a bit loose. In his hands was a camera.

This new person walked through the middle of the room and into Felix. He then greeted the Prince. He reached out his hands towards him.

"Good morning, Your Highness!"

Felix also reached out and shocked the hand.

"Indeed, the morning is indeed good."

The two smiled at each other.

Felix then looked towards Tanya and nodded at her. To which the latter replied by activating her operation orb. She then made a picture sign with her hands.

Felix also looked at the nerdy man and nodded towards him.

The nerdy man knew what to do. He then readied his camera.

Felix turned his attention towards the councilmen and Prime Minister who were looking at him with questions in their eyes.To these people, he just smiled.

He then raised his right hand, and activated his operation orb. The people inside knew something was up… However…

Felix raised his right hand again, and faced his palm upwards.

Immediately, the councilmen reached for the gun in front of them unknowingly…. They were surprised that their hand had managed to do what they ultimately wanted….

Felix then clutches his palm, making a 'come here' gesture….

The guns instantly pointed towards Felix…. A camera's flash was seen capturing the whole scene…. This solidified the councilmen's gut feeling….

Felix suddenly shouted, which made the councilors confused…. He acted like he was betrayed… Like he was hurt from the councilmen's betrayal.

"I TRUSTED YOU!"

"Yo-your Highness… What are you saying? T-t-this… is not-"

"You! You guys tried to kill me even though I trusted you and gave you all enough leeway! Here you are! POINTING YOUR GUN TOWARDS ME?! ME?!"

"Your Highness!"

They tried to steer the guns that they were holding away…. But no matter how hard they tried, it would not budge…

"This is enough… I had enough… I gave you terms… and this is how you repay me? By assassinating me? Kill them."

"Your Highness! NO!"

Instantly, an array of gunfire was fired through the people inside the room…. Numerous gunfire sounded. It was like fireworks echoing through the dark and starry night….

After a few seconds, it returned to the serene and silent night….

All of the councilmen left inside were dead… Killed by the guns that were fired in the frontline…

Nonchalantly, Felix looked at Tanya.

"Let's edit that later. Let's make them more evil, hehe."

Tanya smiled widely at Felix.

"Hehehe, let's!"

Felix then turned towards the nerdy man…. This nerdy man… is a news reporter that Felix had paid… This man was paid by Felix a total sum that could last him for a hundred years! However… this man is now sweating… wondering if he had made the right choice…

"Is there something wrong?"

Felix asked.

"N-n-no… Your highness… Nothing."

"Good. Make sure you get used to this. This.. This is my reality… our reality now."

"Y-y-y-yes, y-y-our Highness..."

Felix then noticed that something was amiss…

Behind him, a window can be seen. Felix looked through this and noticed something.

He then activated his eyes and saw that a line was coming towards him…..

"Shit!"

Felix pushed the news reporter away and turned around.

He then activated his operation orb fully and raised both his arms.

"TANYA!!!!"

Felix shouted Tanya's name as a sign that something was coming… Tanya immediately noticed it and turned around, activating her operation fully, and raised her hands.

Instantly, two coloured magic circles appeared overlapping with one another, with one gold and one silver. It was a large shield enough to cover the whole building…

Instantly, the projectile that was coming towards the building arrived… It was aiming to push through the two devil's defences. Felix and Tanya were pushed back several meters, creating an indent on the ground… ultimately and fortunately, it was stopped….

There, on the open and destroyed part of the building, numerous flying mages were seen…. They were dressed with multiple guns pointed towards Felix and the others…

Atop these shadows, is one of the white-clad enemies that Felix had previously fought… He deduced that since the other is a sniper, the other must be a long way away from them…

Felix knew… that Belial's minions are coming...…. He put mana into his throat and shouted.

"EVERYONE! TO BATTLE POSITIONS!"

…..

_______________________________

Hi.

I am kinda back hahahaha. I'm sorry about that…

You see… writing this fanfic… for me… is a bit hard… I previously couldn't write action and harsh scenes but…. The world of Youjo Senki brought that out of me…

When I write, I first imagine myself as the character… What do I do in this situation? What would I do to counter that? If I faced that, what would I feel?

Questions like that keep going on inside my head while writing… And… Youjo Senki's world… is a bit hard to imagine… personally for me…

You see, Obviously, I haven't killed a person… HAHAHA. I can't imagine myself doing harsh things towards other people… That's why I was kind of in a slump… Youjo Senki's world is.. Well obviously… is a world full of killing…

That's why I was in a slump…. And in order to counter that slump, I wrote another fanfic….

This fanfic is a danmachi fanfic..... And… well… it is a world of killing too… the only thing is that the stuff that I was killing were monsters only… I conditioned myself to write on how to kill monsters… Imagining myself that I was there, swinging my sword left, right, up, and down, seemingly drowning from the blood of the monsters…. And it kinda works.

I now see others that are to be or rightfully to be killed as monsters HAHAHAHAHA. Well that's all in my mind HAHA.

So yeah, I'm kinda back… but there might be chapters where I lessen the word count tehee.

Yeah, I would still continue writing the other fic since it kinda helps me… and that fic would be a big help for me if I would want to write my original story in the future…. Well this fic is helpful too haha.

So yeah, peace out my dudes….

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
