Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse

Chapter 49: Rescue

Khalifa had no idea someone was trying to frame her, but even if she did she wouldn't care.

What was occupying her mind now was the fact that she'd be witnessing pure evil on the way back.

During her peaceful commute and walk home, she had no idea she'd encounter bullies kicking the old man under the bridge.

"Old man! Why don't you just give it to us, huh?" the gangster sneered, kicking again. "It dares to pee on me?! ME the Great Tiger?!"

His two minions laughed and kicked him too.

The old man wasn't making much noise, but he was protecting the two dogs tightly so they didn't escape and run to the man trying to get them killed.

This was the sight that greeted Khalifa.

These bastards!

She quickly called the emergency hotline, telling of the exact address. A little panicky as she heard the crisp sound of bones cracking.

After hanging up, she didn't even think anymore, she just ran to the top of the bridge, and threw random heavy stuff from her space on the men.

"AGGHHH!"

"You!!!"

"Hey! Stop it!" She said, "I already called the police! Shoo!"

She wasn't delusional enough that she would be able to deal with a handful of big men with her current strength, but she really needed to get them away as soon as possible.

Her heart dropped when she saw blood, and she sort of wanted to cry.

'Hold on, old man!'

***

Kylo's eyes twitched as he saw the scene. He was touring his old neighborhood before he left, when he saw the bullying scene more than a few hundred meters away.

It was under a bridge over an abandoned tunnel and he was standing on a convenience store, overlooking the lower terrains, as their location had a slight hilly terrain.

It was a bit far, so he automatically took action planning the fastest route in his mind. He dialed his contact at the police department to make a report and gestured to head over.

However, before he could do anything he saw a girl suddenly appearing on the bridge taking action.

She threw heavy objects she could find and dropped them on the men.

He didn't know where she got those heavy objects, but it stopped the attacks on the old man and his dogs, redirecting the aggression on her.

Her accuracy was impressive.

And inexplicably, her action brought a small smirk on his otherwise stoic face.

His feet moved as he sprinted to the place, jumping through fences, jumping wherever, taking shortcuts.

What he didn't see was that there was actually a crony near the walkbridge as well, and he easily captured and carried her on his shoulders.

By the time Kylo arrived at the scene, she was already taken under the bridge and thrown down the ground next to the bloodied old man, who was already struggling to move, but could not.

His heart skipped a beat as he looked at her beautiful eyes glare at the men, fearless, and filled with fight.

Her arms were extended to block the way to the old man, as if her small body could block anything.

She was obviously a very weak woman, but her spirit was much larger than any of the powerful men he had seen.

"Whoaaa this one is gorgeous! Didn't think she hid so much behind these glasses!" One man yelled, waving the spectacles around in amusement.

"Wow, beauty!!" Another one said, and the other one grabbed his friend's shoulder as if to gossip.

"Shit! Is this a star?!"

"Too beautiful!" The last one said, and they all looked at Khalifa with the same perverted eyes, as if they would be sticking their dicks in her very very soon.

The very thought made her want to vomit.

Khalifa felt like crying a little. A lot of her men before had told her she had too soft of a heart and grew up too innocent.

Except she didn't fall head over heels for them, she was much easier to fool than she let on.

Look at her now, on the verge of being gang raped by four ugly men.

She was starkly reminded of how weak she was. Sex may increase her physique little by little, but it wasn't enough.

At best, she was just as healthy as an average woman now, in contrast to her previously malnourished state.

She couldn't even beat one gangster.

Before they could get a step closer to her though, a dashing figure appeared in front, blocking their way.

"Who are y—" his words were stopped by the man's palm on his neck, pushing, and he immediately lost balance.

Immediately, he turned to deal with the others.

"You!!!"

"What!!"

"Stop!!" A man yelled as he tried blocking a solid jab on his head.

"Ahhhhhh!"

He twisted his tall muscular body and the strength of his long legs kicked the man a meter away.

The sight was very dashing and extremely heroic. Partnered with his gorgeous face and well-built body, it made her heart beat a little faster.

But she promised herself to limit her men, because she really liked her current men. The standards of this world had expectations of monogamy, and the three of them had suffered enough.

She could not give them exclusivity, but she could limit the number of rivals they had to tolerate.

So unless the relationship was organic, she wouldn't seduce new men on purpose anymore, no matter how handsome—

CRASH!

—and sexy.

As he was fighting the men she saw that one was trying to sneak up on him.

She quickly stood up and sprinted to the spot, putting all her strength to the back of her palm, using her weight and inertia to add force.

Kylo turned to see the move, a mimicry of his, but more aligned with her physique.

He didn't notice how his eyes heated up.

Khalifa didn't notice this at all, as she just ran to the old man to perform first aid on him. She took out a kit from her space and tried to control the bleeding the best she could.

Fortunately, Kylo was dealing with the gangsters and there were no CCTVs so her 'magic trick' didn't catch any attention.

The old man was definitely in a critical condition and her heart couldn't help but feel extremely sad, whether it was the old Khalifa or the current her, they have grown very attached to this old man.

The dogs were whining sadly, and it put a few tears in her eyes.

Fortunately, the police and ambulance arrived shortly after.

They were even faster than she thought and praised the government at the back of her head, not knowing her rescuer had a lot to do with it.

When they arrived, she immediately called their attention to the old man.

The paramedics soon arrived next to take care of the old man. The police officers, on the other hand, took the bloodied gangsters to custody, to be taken to a separate hospital themselves.

The police greeted Kylo with a salute, and he just nodded, his mind somewhere else.

Kylo looked around in search and found her petting the dogs, trying to comfort them. His feet moved on their own to approach her, heart beating a bit fast as he got closer.

She heard his footsteps and turned her head to look at him, her beautiful face and unique eyes hitting his heart, making it beat even more erratically.

She stood up abruptly to greet him, but she lost balance from weakness and nerves. He caught her, and his huge palm touched the soft skin of her waist and he didn't want to take it away anymore.

Then he saw the blood on her legs and it hurt his eyes.

"Thank you." She said, embarrassed. "I don't know what could've happened if you didn't come."

"Hmm." Came his standard reticent response, but people who knew him well would be able to hear a slight crack.

He immediately called someone to handle her wounds.

But when he opened his mouth to uncharacteristically utter words of comfort, his phone rang.

Eyes not leaving her body, Kylo acknowledged the person on the other line. "What is it?"

"Your nephew got into an accident!"

"What?" His eyebrows furrowed, staring at the woman who still had that gushing wound.

He had obviously seen much, much more serious wounds thousands of times before, why did this one look so painful?

His chiseled jaw hardened, and he turned to the girl with a bit of reluctance—an unfamiliar emotion.

"I have to go." He said carefully letting her sit on a rock he covered with his jacket.

He even guided her to sit, his large warm arms on her shoulder, uncharacteristically gentle.

But Khalifa didn't know this was unusual. "Thanks again, and be careful." She said, smiling, simply thinking he was a gentleman.

His cerulean eyes stared at her for a beat longer than proper, etching her image in his mind.

Before going, he reminded the paramedics of the injured woman in the tunnel, before reluctantly going.

Later he would realize he didn't know her name or her number.

He thought he could easily investigate as long as he knew the location, time, and date. But he was wrong.

Because the apocalypse would come before he could even find her.
