Kidnapping the Heroine at the Start

Chapter 9: Laying the Groundwork

The girl standing before Lin Han wore a black tactical combat dress, paired with leather boots.

Her long, toned legs exuded both power and raw femininity.

Her short, ash-blond hair swayed gently in the wind, and a scarf-style mask covered most of her face, leaving only a pair of cold, emotionless eyes visible.

Even before getting close, Lin Han could already feel the chilling aura around her, an almost tangible killing intent that sent a shiver down his spine.

"Are you… Kui?"

"Yes, Master."

Kui's emotionless voice continued, "I arrived late. Please punish me, Master."

"It's fine. Get up first."

Kui's status panel had already appeared in Lin Han's system interface.

Combat rating: S.

Loyalty: 100.

No doubt about it—she was the bodyguard sent by the system.

A lethal weapon in human form.

Despite being a girl, her combat abilities were just as terrifying as Ye Fan's.

And on top of that…

Her appearance rating was a solid 90—just slightly below Luo Bingyan, making her another stunning beauty in her own right.

"Young Master, who is she?" Old Six asked, confused.

"My new bodyguard," Lin Han replied casually.

"Alright then…"

Still puzzled, Old Six and the others walked away.

Lin Han studied the girl before him.

Something felt off.

Though clearly alive, she had the presence of a machine—devoid of any real human emotions.

Checking the system's info, he saw her tragic backstory.

She had been raised as an assassin from birth.

It was a survival-based training program—100 children entered, but only one survived.

She had been taught nothing but killing, just like the deadly secret guards of ancient times.

Her emotions had long been stripped away, leaving only absolute obedience.

Lin Han stood there for a moment, unsure of what to say.

After thinking for a while, he finally asked:

"Have you… eaten yet?"

Kui's brows furrowed slightly—a rare flicker of confusion in her eyes.

Clearly, she was unfamiliar with this kind of concern.

But after a moment, she answered mechanically.

"No."

"Alright then. I'll have the kitchen prepare something. Come eat with me."

Lin Han led her to the dining hall.

Soon, an extravagant eight-course meal, two soups, and two desserts were laid out on the table.

But Kui remained standing behind him, motionless, showing no intention of sitting down.

"No need to be so formal. Sit down and eat."

Lin Han gestured toward the seat opposite him.

Kui did not move.

Her voice remained cold.

"I cannot."

Lin Han sighed.

Her obedience to authority was engrained too deeply—respecting her master was burned into her very bones.

"Fine. Then this is an order. Sit down and eat with me."

Finally, Kui obeyed.

She removed her mask, revealing a flawless, breathtaking face, and started eating…

Only plain rice.

She didn't even glance at the dishes on the table.

Lin Han rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.

This habit isn't going to change overnight… I'll have to take it slow.

"New order—eat one-quarter of every dish on the table."

Kui followed his command to the letter—eating precisely one-quarter of each dish, no more, no less.

Still rigid, but at least…

Her meal was now nutritionally balanced.

Watching her eat with such mechanical precision, Lin Han felt a heavy weight settle on his chest.

He was certain—

If he ordered her to slowly cut herself to death, she would do so without hesitation.

He may be a villain—but he was no monster.

How could anyone see a girl like this and not feel something?

Lin Han had no intention of treating Kui as just a killing tool.

Instead, he wanted to help her regain what she had lost—

To bring her back to who she should have been.

That, at least, was a small way to repay her unwavering loyalty.

After the meal, Lin Han leaned back on the sofa, smoking a hand-rolled Cuban cigar, lost in thought.

Ye Fan, now on the run, was still a serious threat.

Since the storyline had already changed, there was no telling how he would react.

But if he truly went rabid, then the situation could turn dangerous.

Even with bodyguards and firepower, there was always the chance of getting caught off guard.

Now, with Kui by his side, Lin Han finally felt he could move freely.

Step 1: Fix the Company

In the original plot, Ye Fan had used business traps to steal massive amounts of money from Lin Han—

And Lin Han had never even realized it, blaming it all on "bad luck."

That wouldn't be happening this time.

Step 2: Cut Off Ye Fan's Backers

Ye Fan had two major supporters:

The Shen Family — Beijing's underground kingpins. The Wang Family — Top figures in Beijing's business world.

Though neither family was a true noble clan, their influence in their respective fields was massive.

Lin Han needed to take them both off the board.

He called Old Six and gave his next orders.

"You don't need to shadow me anymore."

"Instead, send someone to Wudaokou Experimental Middle School. Keep an eye on a girl named Shen Ningning.

Don't interfere—just monitor her movements."

"Understood, Young Master."

Old Six didn't question him.

Loyalty meant knowing when not to ask questions.

Lin Han tapped the ash from his cigar.

Shen Ningning.

She was the youngest daughter of Shen Qiang, the leader of Beijing's underworld, commonly known as Brother Qiang.

She also had an older sister—Shen Yueyue.

According to the original storyline, Shen Ningning was about to be kidnapped.

Her father, Shen Qiang, would turn Beijing upside down trying to find her.

And who would miraculously rescue her?

of course the protagonist Ye Fan.

Gaining Shen Qiang's favor was a huge stepping stone for Ye Fan's rise to power.

Later, Ye Fan would also help Shen Yueyue seize control of the underworld, making her the new underground queen.

Both sisters were also major female leads in the novel—just as beautiful as Luo Bingyan.

Honestly, with Lin Han's status, he had no need for connections like Shen Qiang's.

People like Shen Qiang would bow their heads in respect the moment they saw him.

But still—

Why let Ye Fan have fun with those beauties?

Shen Yueyue and Shen Ningning were both heroines.

And what is Lin Han's real goal?

To sleep with them.

And if he could screw Ye Fan in the process...

Even better.

Lin Han gave another order.

"Also, send a handwritten invitation to Wang Laojiu, the president of the Beijing Business Association. I want to meet him tomorrow."

Wang Laojiu was Ye Fan's white-collar backer.

Many of Ye Fan's business resources had come from him.

And, more importantly—

He also had a daughter.

Another future "wife" of Ye Fan's.

That, too, needed to be stolen.
