Chapter 33: Chapter 33 : Letter
'After this, the conflict between the Ministry of Magic and the Death Eaters was bound to escalate'. Anduin thought, closing the newspaper.
However, those matters were temporarily irrelevant to him; without the guarantee of strength, one could only be at the mercy of others.
After reflecting for a moment, Anduin put down the newspaper, preparing to continue his spell research, but first, he had one more thing to do: reply to Lily and Sirius.
In fact, Anduin had received letters from both of them several days ago, but at the time, he had been so obsessed with practicing spells that he hadn't had time to respond.
He first opened Sirius's letter, which read:
"Hahaha, Anduin, kid, you actually got sorted into Slytherin, what bad luck! If I remember correctly, you're a Muggle-born wizard, right? Those pure-blood bastards in Slytherin will eat you alive. When I was at Hogwarts, I used to tease those Slytherin bastards a lot, so you've got to watch out, or you might get stunned by some random curse on the way, wake up, and find yourself naked in front of the girls' bathroom.
If you want my advice, I can only suggest you pull yourself together quickly. Slytherins are all bullies who fear the strong. If you beat them up, no one will dare mess with you. The professors can't watch you all the time. Professor Flitwick is just a bookworm who only knows how to study magic, Professor Slughorn has always been a nice guy who basically doesn't get involved in his house's affairs, and Professor McGonagall is always stern and scary. You can go to her if you have trouble, but be prepared to serve detention yourself.
I've got good news for you. I'm now the godfather of Lily and James's child. You have no idea how cute Harry is. Lily and I talked it over, and we'd like to invite you to visit us after Christmas. I can teach you a couple of tricks then. What do you say?
Poor Anduin, I've been really busy lately. Recently, many Death Eaters have been cruelly torturing Muggles. Be careful.
Your loyal friend, Sirius Black".
After reading Sirius's letter, Anduin didn't have high expectations for him. That guy was reckless and all action, and somehow even had time to mock Anduin in his letter.
Anduin basically ignored the content and pulled out parchment to write back.
In his letter, Anduin complained to Sirius, telling him not to speak so casually. He barely had any friends in Slytherin and accepted the invitation for the Christmas holidays; by the way, he asked what Christmas gift Sirius wanted.
After writing his reply, he sealed the letter, preparing to send it the next morning when the owl arrived with the newspaper. Then he opened Lily's letter.
Lily was much more reliable than Sirius. She wrote:
"Dear Anduin,
Sorry for replying so late. Harry has only been born for a little over a month, and I, who have just learned to be a mother, am afraid of messing things up right from the start.
As for your sorting into Slytherin, in my opinion, there's no need to worry too much. The Sorting Hat must have its reasons. Slytherin House isn't that terrible. Every house has kind and righteous people, although some wizards go astray after graduation, but we can't assume that represents everyone. A friend of mine at school was also sorted into Slytherin, and among the Death Eaters we face now, there are wizards from other houses as well.
Anduin, you and I are very similar. We're both Muggle-born wizards, but you're different from me. You, having lived alone since childhood, are stronger than I am. I believe you can overcome difficulties. I hope you don't lose your way and stay true to your beliefs.
I recently received a letter from Professor Flitwick, who told me you had been invited to join the Club. That's great. I remember I was only invited to join the Charms Club in my third year.
I had a very fulfilling time there. It was in the Club that I deeply learned and researched some special protective magic. I remember I still have a lot of research materials on protective magic stored in the club. I hid them on the bookshelf behind the podium, in a book on the bottom layer, 'Magical Defense Theory' by Wilbert Slinkard. You can find it and take a look if you're interested.
When Harry was a month old, James and I invited Sirius to be his godfather. He seemed extremely happy. We're planning to hold a small celebration after Christmas. Sirius suggested we invite you. James and I would be very happy if you could come.
Wishing you all the best, your loyal friend, Lily Potter".
Anduin felt very touched after reading Lily's letter. He had no close ties or relationship with her, yet Lily conveyed her kindness to him without reservation.
So, Anduin immediately began to write a reply to Lily.
In the letter, Anduin expressed his gratitude and said he was very happy to be invited to their dinner, which he would definitely attend on time. He sincerely wished the Potters and their son Harry well and once again reminded Lily to take care of her own safety, "even at home."
After writing the reply, Anduin put the letter away, ready to send it along with Sirius's the next day.
Then he continued with his spell studies.
The next day, after sending the letters, Anduin no longer cared about the affairs of Slytherin or Gryffindor, and he did not go to look for Charles again.
Today, he planned to visit Hagrid. Anduin hadn't visited Hagrid since starting school. After all, they had eaten dragon livers together at the Leaky Cauldron. So, after finishing a day of classes, Anduin took some cans of seasoning from his room, packed them, and walked toward Hagrid's hut.
When he arrived at school, Anduin had asked Hagrid where he lived. His hut wasn't close to Hogwarts Castle. After passing through Clock Square and crossing a long, straight covered bridge, Anduin arrived at a circular pile of stones. To the right was the school's owlery, and to the left, along the path, was Hagrid's hut.
After figuring out the way, Anduin walked in the direction of the hut. On the way, there were students dating and playing in twos and threes. The closer he got to the hut, the more deserted the area became.
Finally, Anduin saw a slightly rough-looking hut standing in the distance, surrounded by some thriving vegetables and fruits.
