Chapter 702 Someone is Ambushed
Joe Ga was on the road when he heard the news and decisively sent the entire third squadron to Baghdad to meet up with 'Kitten' and the others.
He never expected the CIA would be so hasty in sending people away, neglecting even their safety. Neither could he have imagined ISIS being so crazy.
That so-called key hostage wasn't supposed to die, and certainly not at the hands of ISIS!
Even the most fanatical terrorist, when faced with a comrade killing his own wife and children, would inevitably waver.
No matter how he thought about it, Joe Ga didn't dwell too much, as it didn't have much to do with him. He'd done his best to help when he could; if the CIA made their own decisions and got banged, there was nothing he could do about it.
On the way to the base, Joe Ga noticed the number of vehicles around him starting to increase.
This highway skirting the edge of Baghdad was a main transport artery, a two-way four-lane road not too wide, but there shouldn't have been any traffic jams.
After nearly 20 minutes of start-and-stop, Joe Ga impatiently picked up the radio and said, "What's going on up front? If it's too jammed, we might as well get off and go..."
'Three Yellow Chickens', leading the way, said over the radio, "Boss, there's a truck that's overturned and blocking half the road ahead. There are no traffic cops or anything like that in this broken place, so we might have to wait a while."
Joe Ga looked back and saw that the road behind was also blocked. He sighed and said, "I hate traffic jams, especially in a place like Iraq.
Every time there's a scene like this in the movies, something unexpected happens..."
Dorian, driving, laughed and replied, "Boss, it's not that exaggerated. I've been in Baghdad for a few days, and it's jammed every day..."
Before Dorian could finish, an explosion occurred further down the road, and then 'Crow' from Jazz Squad, who was trailing behind, suddenly yelled over the radio, "RPG, 2 o'clock direction..."
As 'Crow' shouted, Joe Ga saw two Delta Forces, who should have been downed, each clutching a Barrett and a machine gun, frantically sprinting towards them, apparently trying to circle around to flank the enemy or cover their comrades...
These two guys were also taken aback when they saw Mirosch, probably not expecting to run into P.B. personnel. They excitedly shouted and waved vigorously, signaling the people in the vehicles to fire in the direction of the incoming RPG to cover them...
As 'Three Yellow Chickens' was about to ask his boss on the radio, a bullet simultaneously pierced the heads of the two Delta Forces...
"Attention everyone, the enemy has anti-material weaponry, get out and find cover..."
As 'Three Yellow Chickens' shouted, several individuals armed with RPGs suddenly stood up on a small hillside beside the highway...
"Bang bang bang bang..."
Before those guys could launch their RPGs, the automated weapon station on Jazz Squad's vehicle went off...
Large caliber bullets hit a distant hill, instantly tearing one guy apart.
But the enemy's attack really came suddenly and they were very resolute...
Despite one man down, the rest still fired rockets towards the highway.
Two rockets hit the area they had previously targeted, while several more exploded around Joe Ga's vehicle...
"FUCK..."
A rocket exploded on the roadbed beside Joe Ga, and the flying debris struck the passenger side with a snappy sound.
Joe Ga knew he couldn't stay in his position. He swung into the backseat, commanding 'Medic Officer Bird' to spray the hill with fire while vigorously hitting the communicator and shouting, "Ferryman, hold still, Dorian, push ahead, Rabbit, Jazz, swing the vehicles around for me, goddammit, it's a trap, but not for us..."
With Joe Ga's shout, Dorian floored the accelerator and crashed into the rear of Ferryman's vehicle, creating space for Jazz behind them.
The experienced Jazz Squad positioned their vehicle, with its strongest defense facing the hillside, as Mirosch's White Phosphorus Smoke Bombs were launched, flying 150 meters before bursting and forming several dense clouds.
"Get out, get out, boss get out, I see they have anti-tank missiles."
As 'Crow' yelled, a missile cut through the thick smoke—perhaps the smoke bombs did disrupt it—and it hit a truck in front of Joe Ga, blowing a hole in the cargo bed.
This scared the hell out of Dorian. He threw open his door, jumped out, opened the rear hatch, and shouted to Joe Ga, "Boss, get out, get out..."
Joe Ga, controlling the rooftop anti-tank missile launcher and feeling it was roughly in position, forcefully pressed the launch button...
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh..."
Eight missiles from Mirosch's vehicle streaked toward the slope on the flank, setting off a series of explosions.
Joe Ga knew that weapons designed to hit vehicles weren't actually all that lethal to individuals. He tossed his helmet and backpack to Dorian and 'Medic Officer Bird', then with his gun and backpack, he jumped out of the vehicle...
Seeing Rabbit Squad ahead deploying their smoke bombs and then dismounting to come his way, Joe Ga waved vigorously and called out, "Dandelion, deploy the drone, let me see what's on the other side."
As he spoke, Joe Ga hit the communicator, shouting, "Everybody, there are Cloud Bombs in the vehicle, get them out, I'm gonna burn these sons of bitches alive."
At the sound of this, 'Three Yellow Chickens' immediately halted their advancing steps and, scrambling madly, rushed toward Mirosch's cargo area, rummaging under the back seats and emerging with a case containing a launcher and two warheads.
"Boss, is this the one?"
Upon seeing the color of the case, Joe Ga shook his head and called out, "That's Incendiary Shell, but it doesn't matter. If you can use it, shoot at them, shoot them..."
When Joe Ga shouted, the most decisive "Crow" had already launched a Cloud Bomb toward the hill...
The rocket pierced through the still-existing smoke, spraying a large amount of incendiary agents above the hill, followed by an extremely fierce flash of fire, and then a vast rain of fire scattered towards the other side of the slope.
Joe Ga, hundreds of meters away, couldn't hear the screams from there. He shouted at Dandelion, who had released the mini-drone, "Did you see it clearly, did it hit?"
Dandelion controlled the drone toward the hill, passed through the smoke, and saw the scene on the other side. She hesitated for a moment, then shouted loudly, "Some people are coming around from under the hill, about 40 of them..."
"They dare to charge with just these few people?"
Joe Ga frowned and glanced at the front, then turned to look at the chaotic highway due to the gunfight...
The quick-witted drivers got out of their cars, climbed over the embankment, and sprinted into the desert on the other side of the road.
But there were also some who were very chaotic; they just started running in the direction they came from, as if running faster meant being safer.
A few people were trapped here. The chaos just a moment ago caused a surge in traffic, and some of the most unlucky ones were trapped in their cars, now trying to escape.
Joe Ga thought that the enemies were foolish, leaving the protection of the cover and charging towards the armored vehicles' position on open ground was simply a suicidal act.
Just when he was about to take the risk and have someone climb into a vehicle to control the weapon station to fire, a sudden burst of dense gunfire erupted in front...
"Three Yellow Chickens" peeked out from behind Milosh's vehicle and called out in distress, "Boss, there are more than 20 people in the opposite lane, they are ambushing those Delta Force guys...
What do we do?"
Joe Ga peeked through the smoke-filled space and shouted at Dandelion, "Do they have missiles?"
Dandelion carefully confirmed and called out, "No anti-tank missiles, but they have RPGs..."
Joe Ga nodded and commanded, "One person per vehicle, use the machine guns to block their path of advance..."
As soon as Joe Ga's words left his mouth, Dorian, beside him, grabbed him and rolled to the side while shouting loudly, "Suicide drones, take cover..."
Joe Ga, hearing the warning, rolled under a vehicle just as an explosion sounded from above Milosh...
Four springblades, which he was particularly familiar with, struck the automated weapon tower with precision, crippling Milosh's retaliatory capabilities.
The other two drones plunged towards the front, causing an explosion that led to a wave of screams...
"Three Yellow Chickens" was hit by shrapnel in the thigh, sitting behind the rear wheel of a car, yelling loudly for the Rabbit Squad not to worry about him, and pulled out a tourniquet to tie around his thigh. After tightening it hard, he called out, "Boss, call for a helicopter from the base for support, we can't hold on like this."
Seeing that "Three Yellow Chickens" still had plenty of breath, Joe Ga pressed the communicator and shouted, "Medic Officer Bird, check on Three Yellow Chickens, is anyone else hurt?
A Predator is on the way, the helicopter will take off soon, can everyone hold on?"
"Comet," who had dodged a bullet under Milosh, checked his comrades...
Finding that everyone was unharmed, he gave the boss a thumbs up, then gritted his teeth and loaded another Cloud Bomb. He pushed open the right door of Milosh and quickly leaned out to fire a Cloud Bomb at the terrorists emerging from the fog...
The Cloud Bomb's lethality actually had limited effect on scattered infantry, but those hit by the fiery rain suffered horribly.
The terrorists within the range of the firestorm looked like long-legged torches, screaming wildly as they ran around before succumbing to suffocation, convulsions, curling up, and the stench of being burned, dying in extreme agony.
The enemy probably didn't expect that Joe Ga and his team would use Cloud Bombs, such heavy weapons, repeatedly in combat.
The charging terrorists hesitated for a moment, shifting in place for a while, and then under the orders from behind, they spread out again and charged towards the direction where Delta Force was located.
"Comet" loaded the second Cloud Bomb and was about to fire when a bullet suddenly shot from the direction of the gradually clearing hillside...
The large-caliber bullet hit the launcher on "Comet's" shoulder, and due to the angle, the bullet deviated when it collided with the cylindrical launcher, grazing "Comet's" right cheek and taking a large piece of his face...
"Comet" cried out in pain, but persisted in launching the Cloud Bomb before being pulled away by "Hatchet" using the drag strap on the back of his vest, dragging him out of the vehicle...
The moment "Comet" fell out, another bullet passed through the 50 centimeters or so of car door, hitting another vehicle behind.
The large-caliber bullet penetrated the window and seat, and incredibly started to burn inside...
"Incendiary shell,"
Joe Ga looked at "Comet," whose right cheek was ripped open to reveal his teeth, lying in "Hatchet's" arms, trembling in pain and letting out an agonized howl. He shouted at Medic Officer Bird, who was always looking forward, "Stop f***ing looking, check on 'Comet.'
Everyone, don't poke your heads out, the enemy has a very good sniper."
While saying this, Joe Ga pressed the communicator and said, "Cobra, where are you? Come save us..."
As Joe Ga shouted, Cobra's voice came through the communicator...
"Su-25 armed and taking off, 3 minutes, mark your own position, hold on..."
