Naya Tori. She was a mere civilian shinobi. Her father owned a restaurant, and her mother helped out as a Mother of five. All became shinobi, although two died on the battlefield already. The remaining three became genins, except for Naya who trained extremely hard to become a kenjutsu expert, skills which were eventually acknowledged by the Kirigakure Genin Corps.

Although Takeshi had evaluated her talent to be average, it was undeniable that her strength, agility and vitality were high.

Just as Naya exchanged blows with the Kumogakure Jonin, she showed no sign of backing down. Swords were absolute in close combat. With range, speed and sharpness, it was unbelievably versatile. Surely it was not as powerful as an axe, or as long as a spear. However, it could help parry, chop and thrust just fine.

Still, Takeshi smirked inwardly.

Her basics were solid. Foundations had been engraved in her muscles, even in a hostile environment she could muster up good forms. Her footing was stable, and her strikes did not show any hesitation. However, it stopped at that.

After sparring with the crazy elder Otuka for so long, a grandmaster, he had grown his proficiency in the Hidden Mist Kenjutsu to 165, his single highest proficiency in a skill. Although it was preprosterous to say this, Takeshi had already become, skill-wise, as strong as a Jonin. 

If it were not for his low physical attributes, he could have engaged the jonin himself, without having to send Naya to the butchery.

'She must have 80, maybe 90 points in the skill at best', Takeshi analysed.

Although she was standing her ground, the wounds accumulated on her body. Her left arm was losing strength rapidly, and her torso was exposed, half of it already bloodied from an earlier successful feint from the jonin.

Thankfully, Takeshi had already dealt with the two weaklings, and supported her. Each strike was precise and deadly, preventing the jonin from fully focusing on Naya. First, it was his left arm, reducing his strength. Now, his thigh was hit.

Now, it was just a matter of time before he would fall.

This time, however, the jonin had seen it coming. He kicked Naya with a powerful side kick, crushing her leg. Without wait, he used a lightning jutsu which acted as a shield. In a flash of a second, he threw his chained scythe towards Naya.

*SPLASH*

It hit her chest.

Takeshi's eyes became wide open.

'Did she die...? Just like that?'

Mixed feelings went through his mind, but none indicated rage or despair. In fact, he did not even account for this information emotionally. Instead, he rushed forward. It was time to get serious. As Yukiko rushed to Naya to attempt to save her, the man targeted her.

"You will experience, what I experienced, silver-hair devil!", the jonin shouted.

The jonin, blinded by revenge, had become too predictable. 

From the start, Takeshi knew that he would leave him for last. He knew that the jonin would not be satisfied unless Takeshi lost everything. His teammates, his blood lust, his life.

But this precise idea of irrationality left him no better than wild beast. And Takeshi was a hunter.

It was time to look at Naya's condition. He had not expected her to lose her momentum in the span of a second, but at the end of the day, he had never put himself in danger. Naya had the potential to become his shield. Whether she would survive to become a sturdier one, or be discarded as one more fallen comrade, it now depended on her willpower and Yukiko's skills.
