Chapter 1: Gaius
INTRODUCTION
In the year 702, a certain region on the Alverian continent was named Tassal, known by explorers as a completely dangerous region, due to its flora, which has animals that are completely different from the others known. In addition, the people of Tassal are very violent, being a land of pure anarchy; no great kingdom has managed to completely rule Tassal, for an unknown reason. This is why the idea of creating bands became popular, but it was almost impossible in the Southeast region, considering that kingdoms were constantly emerging and disappearing.
It even became common to create legends of kingdoms that were successful during a certain period, such as Julianja, which is mentioned in children's stories as a futuristic and pure city that managed to defeat all the evils of the world, and that disappeared from Tassal because it was so good. Another story that was told was about the existence of entities, mostly used to scare children, but there were still cases of unsolved mass deaths. Many say that entities are real, but everyone from outside claims that it is something from Tassal's culture.
In general, Tassal was not a well-regarded city by outsiders. In reality, the Alverian continent was not a well-regarded continent by others. The country that borders Tassal (Hiberia) has had several wars due to the exploitation of these lands, but the Hiberians have always been more united in relation to the Tassalians. In a way, it is a more cursed continent.
CHAPTER 0 – Gaius
In the southwest region of a land that would later be called Tassal, Gaius and a companion named Jeil were in the middle of a heavy rain in the region. They were on their horses, which were weak, but ahead they saw the light of a possible house:
- It's over. – says Gaius
- It's not what you think, it's a tavern. – says Jeil
- Hmm, I'd go back into the rain in a little while. – says Gaius
Jeil looked at the horses and said:
- Cherry doesn't deserve to go through this. – says Jeil
- Neither do I, spending time with you. – says Gaius
- But at least we can have a drink, and who knows, maybe find out more about this werewolf. – says Jeil
- But what? How is this pack still standing? Could it be Henrich's new pack? – says a man
- Haha, that's too much, soon the authorities will start hunting them. – says another
Entering the tavern they found what they expected, some drunk, others depressed, and the classic music, which was always the same regardless of the region. Gaius looked closely and found a poster of the supposed werewolf, he leaned against the counter, before Jeil:
- Bring two, one for me and one for him – says Gaius referring to Jeil
- Which one do you want? – says the bartender.
Gaius leaned closer to the counter:
- The best in this region. – says Gaius
The bartender smiled:
- So we have someone from outside.
- Not exactly, but it's been a long time since I've been to this region - says Gaius
- Why did you come here? - says the barman, pouring Gaius two half-red drinks.
- I know... today this region isn't the best, after 877 everything got more complicated, but there's someone I'm interested in. - says Gaius, looking at the werewolf poster.
Jeil arrived at the counter, still not saying anything, but already picking up his drink:
- If that's who I'm thinking of, I find it hard to hunt him down, he's more like the living dead than a wolf. - said the barman
Gaius took a sip and said:
- Nothing a giant sword can do. - says Gaius, now more serious
- But to be honest, I think he's probably in a cave by now... doing wolf things. - says Jeil
The barman looked more serious when he made that statement:
- But seriously, don't kill the werewolf, he really shouldn't be killed. - says the barman
The door of the bar breaks down completely and a boy is thrown through it, stopping the atmosphere in the tavern completely:
- Help me! A wolf wants to eat me alive! Someone please! - says the boy
Everyone in the tavern ran out in desperation, the barman hid under the counter, Jeil looked distressed, but Gaius kept drinking, the werewolf who had wanted to devour the boy before was now curious about Gaius coldness:
- Well... we have a brave one among us, among so many... just this one, a poorly dressed man hahaha. - says the werewolf
- Gaius... you need do something! - say Jeils nervous
The werewolf was walking, and Gaius grabbed Jeil's drink and drank it, completely ignoring the situation without saying a single word. Jeil, gathering his courage, seemed determined to do something until Gaius said:
- Let the werewolf kill the boy; his head will be worth more. - Gaius said with a peculiar smile.

No! Sir, help me! Don't do such evil! - said the boy
Hahaha, this is the kind I like. - said the werewolf, ready to kill the boy
But as Gaius turned around, he had a quick flash of an old memory. It was of him and an unknown woman; she was dying at the hands of an entity. Acting on impulse, Gaius ripped off the werewolf's head in seconds. The tavern went silent until Jeil said:
Good job, Gaius! - Jeil said, approaching the two
The boy, with some blood on him, said:
I hope you were joking about that earlier comment. Thank you so much for saving my life. My name is Luke. - said Luke
Jeil looked at Luke with a malicious gaze and said:
You give your name so easily, Luke? - said Jeil I... I... I didn't... - stammered Luke Don't worry, boy, he won't do anything bad to you, except for... - Gaius said, predicting an attack from the werewolf and blocking it, but its claws pierced his skin. Hahaha, looks like someone knows too much about entities, don't you, bounty hunter? - said the werewolf How did you know that... - said Jeil, in disbelief Entities of this level don't die so easily. I admit I underestimated this werewolf. At least it's earning its price. - Gaius said, attacking the entity again
Gaius landed most of his strikes on the werewolf, but its regeneration was getting faster.
Every entity was once a human being, but at some point in a moment of frustration, they were capable of killing the people they loved to gain more power. The more cowardly and cruel they were, the greater their power.
Jeil led Luke outside the tavern, where it was drizzling but still better than inside. Outside, they found the bartender, who was smoking and looked thoughtful.
- I'm sorry for him fighting in your bar. - said Jeil

Jeil led Luke outside the tavern, where it was drizzling but still better than inside. Outside, they found the bartender, who was smoking and looked thoughtful.
- I'm sorry for him fighting in your bar. said Jeil
- Besides scaring away my customers, it actually doesn't even matter. - says barman who sits on a chair near the entrance of the tavern
He remembered something, and was somewhat remorseful:
- My brother and I built this tavern, it was my father's dream to open any type of business in this region, since at the time it was the place where there were the most jobs, but because of a damn fight in this tavern, my brother He moved away from everything, started drinking the beers here, I immediately kicked him out, and as stubborn as he was, he never listened... the entity that your friend is killing is my brother. – says the bartender
Gaius left the tavern with the werewolf's head in his hands, Jeil seemed so reflective about the situation that he didn't even speak, but the hunter says to the bartender:
- Don't get hot. – says Gaius smiling at the bartender
The bartender looked to Gaius:
- I paid for the drink. – says Gaius, leaving with an expression as if he had done the right thing
- Well... I have to go, I live far from here, so it's better to start early, take care of the boy and once again, I'm sorry. – says Jeil
Jeil arrived at his horse and said to Gaius:
- How much is he really worth? – says Jeil
- Quite enough for your level, about 200 cedars – says Gaius
- Is it far from here? To get the money? – says Jeil
- It's not in the same direction as your house, let me get the reward, go see your wife. – says Gaius
- Ok... – says Jeil about to go
- And one more thing, I don't want to put you in this life, it's very dangerous for someone who has something to lose, let me... get my hands dirty. – says Gaius
- Understood, see you soon Gaius. – says Jeil, leaving
When Gaius was ready to go, a man came up to him, offering a place in his gang:
- I saw what you did in there, I must congratulate you, it's people like you that I want in my gang, call me Mill Achler. - Mill says
- I... appreciate the opportunity, but no. - Gaius says
- We can make a deal, a salary and better armor, I see that you have great potential. - Mill says
- No... - Gaius says
Mill took a deep breath:
- So... okay, but know that if you want to join, I owe you one since you saved an important member who was in the tavern. - Mill says
Gaius was leaving with Cereja, heading towards the Naga village to collect his reward, remembering when he was part of a gang, Mill made Gaius remember a time when he was more human.
But Gaius feels that someone was with him, already recognizing who it was:
- You again? Speak up, Owl. - Gaius says
An entity with an armored body and an owl's head, watched him from afar, watching Gaius' journey. He flew to Gaius, saying:
- I know you act impulsively and want to become stronger, but forgetting your past is not a good option. -
Gaius was more serious, he tries to hit the entity that just disappears.
The entity in question was different from the others, it seemed to be calmer, being more thoughtful than just acting, besides having a calmer and more powerful aura compared to other entities.
But Gaius that night, leaning against a tree, with the head of a werewolf, remembers his old companions...
