Chapter 16: The Legacy Of The Uzumaki
This one is a bombshell. I bet you never saw this coming, Lol!
The Senju compound stood in eerie silence as chaos erupted throughout Konoha. The roar of the Nine-Tails reverberated through the night, shaking the ground and drowning out the desperate cries of villagers. Raven (Kushina) moved swiftly, cloaked in shadows as her puppets scouted the perimeter.
Root and Anbu operatives were nowhere to be seen—just as she had planned. With the Nine-Tails rampaging, every available shinobi was busy defending the village.
"Perfect timing," she whispered to herself.
"Of course it is," Yuumi's voice chimed in her mind, sarcastic as always. "You're a master of dramatic entrances, little fox."
Raven smirked as she approached the shrine at the heart of the compound. Its weathered stone steps and simple pedestal glowed faintly in the moonlight. Her fingers brushed against the intricate Uzumaki seals protecting the entrance.
"Alright," she murmured, biting her thumb and letting a bead of her Uzumaki blood drip onto the pedestal. The seals flared to life, glowing red and twisting into motion, unlocking the mechanisms below.
The ground rumbled as the shrine shifted, revealing a dark spiral staircase descending into the earth. Raven took a deep breath.
"Here we go."
The cavern opened before her, vast and breathtaking. Chakra seals pulsed faintly along the walls, casting a warm red glow that illuminated shelves upon shelves of scrolls, weapons, and artifacts. Dust hung in the air, untouched for decades.
"Well," Yuumi said, hopping onto her shoulder, "Mito sure knew how to leave a legacy. This place is practically a library of forbidden knowledge."
Raven walked slowly, her eyes darting over the treasures surrounding her.
Scrolls labeled with intricate characters sat neatly on the shelves:
Advanced Sealing Techniques: Explaining how to create dimensional barriers and capture beasts.
Regenerative Chakra: Techniques for rapidly healing oneself or others using advanced seals.
Massive Barrier Seals: Instructions for protecting entire regions.
Forbidden Summoning Scrolls: Including ancient Uzumaki beasts and constructs.
Weapons were mounted along the walls:
Chakra-forged blades gleamed under the faint glow of the seals.
An ornate kusarigama (chain-sickle) caught her attention, its handle inscribed with Uzumaki patterns and seals designed for chakra enhancement.
At the center of the chamber lay a massive star-shaped seal, its intricate patterns glowing faintly as if waiting for something—or someone.
"Looks like we found the main event," Raven muttered, stepping toward the seal.
"You sure about this?" Yuumi asked, hopping to the ground and examining the markings. "This thing is oozing space-time jutsu energy. Might take you somewhere you don't want to go."
"Then I'll make it somewhere I do want to go," Raven said confidently. She stepped into the seal, feeling its energy ripple through her. "Besides, Grandma wouldn't leave something dangerous for her descendants. Right?"
"Optimistic, aren't we?" Yuumi said, rolling her eyes.
Raven placed her hands on the seal, feeding it her chakra. The lines flared to life, bright red light flooding the room. A low hum filled the air, growing louder as the seal activated.
The world around her twisted and warped, the air crackling with energy. In an instant, the cavern disappeared, and Raven found herself standing in a new chamber, far older and more elaborate than the one she had just left.
"This is..." she whispered, her voice trailing off as she looked around.
The chamber was part of a massive underground temple, its walls carved with intricate depictions of Uzumaki history. Scenes of warriors wielding seals, binding monstrous beasts, and standing guard over a massive tree-like structure were etched into the stone. At the center of the room stood a small sapling, glowing faintly with life.
"The Land of Whirlpools," Yuumi said, her voice unusually soft. "This is where your clan began."
The silence was broken by a voice that sent a chill down Raven's spine. "Welcome, my descendant."
Raven turned sharply to see a figure materialize near the sapling. Her breath caught as she recognized the woman from her memories—Mito Uzumaki, her grandmother, her mentor, her guide.
"Grandma?" Raven's voice cracked, her Rinnegan flickering with emotion.
Mito smiled, her presence ethereal yet commanding. "It has been a long time, Kushina. Or should I call you Raven now?"
Raven approached cautiously, her heart pounding. "You... you left this for me?"
"I did," Mito said, gesturing to the room. "This temple, this sapling, this history—it is the legacy of the Uzumaki clan. Our knowledge, our power, and our purpose. I entrusted it to you because you are our last hope."
Yuumi sat silently, her tails still as she listened.
"Why did the Uzumaki fall?" Raven asked. "Why did the world turn against us?"
Mito's expression darkened. "Because we knew the truth. The truth about the Ōtsutsuki Clan and their connection to the World Tree. Long ago, they came to this world and planted the tree, intending to harvest its life force to create a chakra fruit. They would have destroyed this planet if not for Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, who turned against them."
Raven's eyes narrowed. "But Kaguya wasn't a savior. She enslaved humanity, right?"
"She did," Mito agreed. "But even in her twisted reign, she feared the Ōtsutsuki would return. That fear is what drove her to create the White Zetsu army. Our clan took it upon ourselves to guard the remnants of the World Tree, ensuring it could never be used again.
As for Kaguya—if she were truly all bad, she would have been killed, not sealed away on the moon. The truth is, Kaguya was betrayed—first by her husband, then by her own children. She was a victim of betrayal, trapped by her own misguided choices.
I've always taught you that we women must stand united in this world. But Kaguya had no one to rely on. If she had, perhaps things would have ended differently for her."
"And that's why the Uzumaki were destroyed," Raven said, realization dawning. "Someone wanted to erase that knowledge."
Mito nodded. "The Black and White Zetsu coordinated the attack on Uzushiogakure, manipulating the world into seeing us as a threat. They succeeded in silencing us, but they did not destroy us entirely."
Mito gestured to the glowing sapling at the center of the room. "This is what remains of the World Tree. Its power is diminished, but it still holds immense potential. With the right care, it can become a beacon of life and strength—a tool to reshape this broken world."
Raven approached the sapling, her hand hovering over its delicate branches. She could feel its energy pulsing, vibrant and alive.
"What am I supposed to do with it?" she asked.
"That is up to you," Mito said. "You can use it to rebuild the Uzumaki clan, to create a sanctuary for those cast aside by the shinobi world. Or you can wield its power to fight against the darkness that threatens this world. The choice is yours."
Yuumi stepped forward, her blue eyes gleaming. "Looks like you've got a big decision to make, little fox."
Raven took a deep breath, her resolve hardening. As her eyes lit up with the boldest idea of the century.
Seeing this look, Yuumi suddenly had a very bad feeling in her little fox heart.
