Chapter 4: Chapter Four:
'Mom...Dad... Mia... Chloe... Alvin... Max... Cody... Eleanor... Alex... Tommy...'
The thoughts wouldn't stop, they felt like a cage of madness. He couldn't even find peace in death, and that was were most people found it. Couldn't a guy pass away in peace and not this damn haunting.
Dying sucked
Alrick's eyes fluttered open, his beautiful green irises surrounded the dilating pupils that was in the process of adjusting to the bright light that was glaring in his face through the small window. It felt like the king dentists would point in your face.
He licked his chapped lips while he looked around where ever the hell he was? It looked like he was in some kind of capsule that had a small window only in the head area, the inside was entirely white and surprisingly comfortable.
Did they make these kinds of beds in heaven? Or hell? He wasn't sure. He tried to move but it was incredibly difficult to do so like he was wrapped in a cocoon of some sort.
He wiggled and squirmed, eventually bringing his arms up to his chest. The effort was ridiculously high and hoped the results would reap a similar benefit.
He placed him palms squarely on the roof of the capsule, it felt incredibly soft like the bottom. After getting a feel of it, he used all the strength his body could muster to push against it. He was expecting a crazy amount of resistance from the lid but was surprised when his hands were suddenly raised up in the air like a baby reaching out for its parents.
The lid had vanished!
He had forgotten to put his hands down from confusion, staring blankly at the white ceiling with a bright circular light above his head, that must have been what had been burning his pupils.
He finally put his hands down and used it to help him sit up from the capsule bed, his body screaming at him for the sudden movement. He fell back dazed, not bothering to move until his body was up to it. Even thinking was a burden but it seemed like his mind didn't want to take a break.
"My body seems to be severely weakened, that means I have clearly been immobile for a while leading me to be highly incapacitated at the moment. I'm sure the amount of time I've been out cold so my recovery time is uncertain and with no nutrients to aid me, it might take a while.", he thought to himself as he continued staring up at the bright light.
He wanted to turn his head away but he couldn't so he just closed his eyes to make it more comfortable for himself.
During the time of this painfully long wait for his body to start responding, he was in and out of sleep. When he slept he had Nightmares and when he was awake, his thoughts plagued with seeing his loved ones died before him.
It was pure torture.
He needed to do something, move his body before he went mad and did something crazy. After what felt like half a day, he could finally move his fingers. He was able to move more parts of his body more and more and soon he could sit up, his body wasn't yelling this time. It sounded more like a silent protest.
He was finally able to look around and froze at the sight, numerous white capsules similar to the one he was in but it lids, a circular light hanging above each one like it did for his. It was a big white rectangular room with no windows or visible exits. A few cupboards were lined up on a particular wall in the corner and there was a large transparent partitioned room beside them.
Looking inside it, it looked like an operating room. The kind you used to do experiments on people though, that much was obvious.
He turned his head to the neighboring capsules, his eyes squinting as he tried to look through the small window on them. His face turned white when he saw who it was.
"... M-om?...", his voice was hoarse but it didn't hide the astonishment in it. He tried to reach out for her but ended up falling out his capsule instead, this was when he noticed he had nothing on. Not that he cared. He wobbled up to his feet and ran his fingers across its smooth lid.
"Mom... Mom... I'll get you out", He tapped on the lid before trying to pulling it open. He tried everything but it wouldn't budge, he racked his brain wondering why it wouldn't open up.
He then realized he had opened it from the inside so maybe she could, he banged against the capsule in an attempt to wake her up but she remained lifelessly still. He was confused and began looking around the capsule the suddenly noticed a tag at the side of the capsule.
*Number of days dead: #3*
His eyes widened at this, he was confused. Why wasn't his Mom waking up like he did, if she was really dead shouldn't he be as well? He immediately turned to his own Capsule to find a similar tag and sure enough there was a similar one there as well.
"This doesn't make sense at all", he ran his hand through his hair and walked to the other Capsule beside his to find his brother Cody. He did exactly the same thing he did with his Mom but the boy didn't open his eyes and he also had a similar tag. He walked to the rest of his brothers' capsules and they were all they same.
He felt like he was having a panic attack, his hand on his chest while he pushed his hair back again with the other. He examined almost every single capsule in room, everything was the same everyone was dead.
His breathing became erratic as he did another round by a few Capsules he hadn't checked yet, he stopped by one and calmed down a bit at a familiar face.
It was Eleanor's grandma, Nana Mae. She had been a really sweet woman to him and almost felt she was like his own grandmother, a tiny tear trickled down his cheek before he wiped it away. She was gone now.
He turned his head to the next capsule on the right and of course Eleanor was there, it seemed the bastards were respectable enough to keep the dead with their family in an order from left to right starting from the oldest to the youngest.
It was something he had noticed after inspecting all the capsules, he knew almost everyone here so it was easy to find that out.
He drummed his finger against Eleanor's capsule and sighed trying not to cry anymore but how could he not when he sees his best friend lying dead in front of him?
They had been friends since kindergarten when she stole his lollipop, they fought so much too the point they started hanging out just to do that. It was normal for them to fight all the time and also normal for them to make up almost immediately.
He laughed at all the times they'd get in trouble for being disrespectful brats and minor bullies to their other friends, they were horrible to be around. That was for sure. But Alex and Tommy always stuck around despite all their negativity.
He sat down beside her capsule and sighed a bit before speaking, "Hey Ellie, you good?.. Of course not, what was I thinking asking such a stupid thing... Anyways... How's Heaven? It's surprising to believe it but I know you're definitely there. This is definitely hell and you're not here with me... I miss you... I miss everyone, don't think you're special"
He laughed to himself before running both hands over his face, "Alrick you've finally lost it, you're in a room filled with dead bodies while being butt naked and talking to one. Can therapy even work at this point?", he muttered to himself.
"Forget hearing that Ellie, I should be finding my way out right now but here I am... It's not like I'm in a rush. We're definitely still on the fucking cruise ship and those over paid waiters are still lurking, and let's not forget the bitch Lucy. I never thought hating someone so much could be possible
