Lazy but the strongest in the dimension

Chapter 4

Body Modification (1)

It hurts.

Changing the level of the body is comparable to the pain a butterfly feels when it breaks free from its cocoon.

Since coming to the continent of Perso, I have been living a comfortable life. If I was hungry, I ate. If I needed to relieve myself, I did. If I wanted to sleep, I slept.

The environment was sufficient for me to focus on basic, primal needs, so there was no need to change the level of my body.

My soul is half-divine at this point.

Having achieved mythical deeds that are impossible for humans, I qualified to become a deity, and the attribute I chose for my divine path was laziness. In a sense, eating, relieving myself, and sleeping could be considered a form of training.

To be lazy, the best thing to do is to remain still.

There was no need to do any annoying tasks. Why would I willingly suffer like that? I had no intention of participating in any wars.

But then, the goddess Kaldona intervened, and my fate became disastrously tangled. That’s why I’m experiencing this pain now.

Uduk! Uddudeuk!

While my soul was far beyond the level of a saint, my body’s vessel was still pathetic and was now undergoing changes to match my level.

Naturally, the pain was the complete opposite of laziness, and my stats were constantly decreasing.

Usually, Erna would have told me that my stats had decreased to some degree, but right now, I needed to check for myself.

She had designed the “system” for my convenience, but I had never used it because it was too bothersome until now.

But now, it seemed necessary.

When I opened the system, constant mechanical sounds echoed.

[The laziness stat decreases by 1%.]
[The laziness stat decreases by 1%.]
[The laziness stat decreases by 1%.]
……

The reduction in my laziness stat was continuous.

Even though the body modification was not yet fully completed, it had already decreased by 20%, which was quite a feat.

Naturally, as someone who aimed to be the god of laziness, this was a threat.

Erna! How much longer!? At this rate, my divine path will be cut short. Do I even have any intention of completing my path in this life!?

Just hang in there! It’s almost 80% done!

If this goes on, the state will hit rock bottom!

Don’t talk nonsense. I’ve been maintaining 100% all this time, so what are you talking about?

Uduk! Uddudeuk!

My body was undergoing complete modification. Muscles and bones were being rearranged to optimize movement, and pathways for forming terminals and channels to spread the power throughout my body were being developed like a spiderweb of divine roads.

This is the process of laying the foundation. There was no terminal yet, and since there had been no training, it couldn’t compare to the time when I was fiercely battling the Demon King on Earth. Still, a path had opened up to acquire a terminal and elevate my physical level. This was a blessing that an ordinary person couldn’t even imagine. I guess you could call it a kind of cheat code.

Finally, the physical modification was complete.

It’s all done.

“Ah, damn it. I don’t know why I have to go through this rough ordeal because of Kal-dona.”

Sweat was dripping from my body.

I didn’t have the strength to stand up, nor was there any reason to. But it felt like I had grown taller and that my body was packed with muscle.

Due to the physical modification, the laziness stat has decreased by 30%.

“Let’s recover.”

I decided to begin my training.

Training, of course, meant recovering the laziness stat. Only by recovering the stat could I get stronger.

Before long, I passed out.

It had been three days since Valen, the second son of Count Linus, had locked himself in his room to train.

At first, I left Valen alone for a day or two, but by the third day, I began to feel something was off.

So, Count Linus sent a servant to find out what exactly Valen had been doing in his training. And the result was as expected.

“He’s been sleeping the whole time for three days, my lord.”

“He’s been sleeping the whole time?”

“I gathered this information from the maidservants in charge of him.”

“Ha! I told you you can’t change bad habits. How long has it been since you received a prophecy from Lord Kal-dona, and now you’re just sleeping away?”

Linus spat out his divine aura as expected.

The divine aura of a knight who had reached the Great rank was something ordinary people couldn’t handle.

The servant hastily retreated. If they weren’t careful, the sharp energy of the divine aura could penetrate their body and cause their organs to necrose.

As Linus’s divine aura subsided, he called for the commander of the knights.

Soon, Commander Mallick rushed in and saluted.

“Sir! You called, my lord?”

“Valen’s been sleeping for three days. He’s eating on his own, so I assume he’s not dead. What do you think of this?”

“The soldiers’ morale is already shaken. When they heard the news of the prophecy, they were full of anticipation, but now they were complaining that he was wasting time just sleeping. They’re saying that human nature doesn’t change. From that alone, it’s clear that he’s unfit to lead an army.”

“Bring him here immediately. You go and bring Valen here yourself!”

“Yes! My lord!”

I was in the middle of my third day of training.

For me, training meant recovering my laziness stat while sleeping, and now, I had finally managed to recover the laziness stat that had been drained during my physical modification.

By this morning, the laziness stat had been restored to 100%, and I was slowly getting stronger.

Before Erna could report, the system notified me that I had already received a bonus.

[The laziness stat is at its maximum. Strength has been increased by +1 as a bonus.]

I could feel that my strength had increased when the strength stat was added.

Of course, the +1 was a rough estimate based on the system Erna developed, and in reality, it might have been slightly higher or lower.

At this rate, I thought I could quickly end the war and return.

“Please stop!”

There was a commotion outside.

I woke up at the sound and rang the bell by my bedside.

Ding! Ding!

“What’s going on with all this noise?”

“The commander is here and trying to barge in without permission…”

The maidservants were sweating nervously.

I had given strict orders not to let anyone in while I was training, but now the commander was causing trouble.

Soon, Commander Mallick barged in.

Mallick, a knight in his mid-40s who, like his father, had reached the Great rank, was known as the strongest in the territory, excluding his father.

Mallick looked down at me as if I were pathetic.

“Young master, the lord is calling for you.”

“Why? I told him I’m training.”

“Your current state makes it hard to believe you’re training.”

I frowned.

My way of training was a bit different, but it seemed my father couldn’t understand it.

Erna sighed and spoke.

The idea that you automatically get stronger by being lazy doesn’t make any sense. That’s impossible.

‘Right? I’m trying to get stronger from now on, but if I move, my stat will just drop even more.’

It was truly an unfair situation.

But what would happen if I told them I was a divine being and asked them to leave me alone? Of course, I’d probably get beaten to death by my father. I still couldn’t win if I fought with him. There was no terminal yet. If that were possible, I might have committed an act of filial impiety.

“Today, I’m a bit tired. So, go back.”

“When have you not been tired? Excuse me for a moment.”

The commander picked me up.

After the physical modification, I had gained weight, and my muscles had increased, so I had become a bit heavier, but it didn’t seem like he cared about that.

On the way to the lord’s castle.

Mallick was carrying me, and the maidservants, butlers, and even the soldiers all clicked their tongues.

“Why on earth did the goddess give a prophecy to someone like him?”

“How would I know? A human can’t understand the deep intentions of that being.”

“Well, when you look at the current situation, it’s completely incomprehensible.”

My laziness had reached the heavens, and now I was even making the commander of the knights work for me.

In my view, I was just maintaining my stat, but no one else saw it that way.

It was rude behavior.

It seemed that Mallick had sensed the looks.

“Young master, shall we put you down and let you walk now?”

“I’m too sore to walk. You’ve trained yourself, so you know, right? When you train to the extreme, you lose the strength to move. That’s exactly my condition. I’m in a stage where I need to focus solely on recovery. If I move now, I’ll lose muscle.”

“Please, take it easy. Is sleeping for three days considered training? People are watching.”

“I don’t care about people’s opinions. But you seem to care quite a bit, huh? A knight should maintain composure at all times.”

“I don’t want to hear such words from you.”

Mallick’s muscles twitched.

If it weren’t for the lord’s orders, he would have probably tossed me aside right away. I could feel his anger.

He was releasing his divine aura, but I calmly absorbed it.

If a god were to descend and personally release a divine aura, that might affect me, but the divine aura from a human like him couldn’t affect my body.

After all, I had already undergone physical modification.

There were a few scuffles along the way, but I held my ground and arrived at the lord’s castle very comfortably.

Here, my father and other military officers had gathered.

“You brat! What have you been doing locked up for three days!?”

An immediate order was given.

Compared to three days ago, when I received my conscription notice due to the prophecy, the atmosphere had changed drastically.

Since I was chosen by the goddess Kal-dona, expectations had been high, but after spending three days sleeping, people’s opinions of me had soured.

“I was resting. The training was exhausting.”

“Ha! Training? What kind of training have you been doing?”

“That?”

I slowly began to take off my clothes.

Murmurs spread.

The surrounding people were buzzing.

At this point, they were even whispering that I might have gone crazy. My father was on the verge of exploding with anger.

I had only removed my upper clothes, but murmurs of shock were heard from all around.

“Ugh!”

“When on earth did you undergo such training?”

Even on the outside, my physique looked solid. As I took off my shirt, my entire body was covered in muscle, not something newly formed but hardened through years of training, making it incredibly solid.

My body was optimized to the point where I could engage in battle right away. Compared to a knight who trained with a terminal, I now had a physique that was not lacking in the slightest.

“I have a habit of training at night.”

“Ah! So that’s what it was?”

“Yes. It works better for me to train at night. I’ve been doing it this way all along.”

“Is that so…?”

People wore astonished expressions.

They had never heard of me training at night. To build a body like this would have been impossible in a cramped room, and since I barely walked outside, let alone trained, they were surely shocked.

But here was the proof. No one could dispute it.

I put my shirt back on. As I sluggishly moved, acting tired, the deputy commander couldn’t hold back his anger.

“I don’t know whether you trained alone or not, but our First Knight Corps cannot accept a commander like you!”

“Deputy commander, calm down. It’s an imperial order, after all.”

I smiled lazily as I spoke.

At that sight, the deputy commander’s anger exploded.

“At the very least, you need to prove your basic abilities before we can follow you!”
