Chapter 178: Three Interesting News
November 1994
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Harry returned back to Hogwarts along with Luna. During the entire course of journey Luna had her trademark 'lost' expression on her face. Harry was mildly amused by Luna's reaction but did not made a comment to her.
He had decided that he would let Hermione and Luna come to terms with their new status for few days after which he would discuss with them few things. The prominent would be giving them a general overview of the wizarding politics and the other being discussing the future course of Hogwarts.
Although he had already announced major changes that he would have implemented in Hogwarts, but now that Hogwarts had found the heirs of other two founders, taking their views in account was a necessary thing to do.
When Harry arrived back in his office, he found Amelia Bones waiting for him.
"Madam Bones," greeted Harry as he took his seat.
"What beings you here?" He questioned.
"Lord Potter," she greeted back. "There are three pieces of interesting news I have received."
"Interesting you say," Harry raised an eyebrow. "Not good or bad?"
Amelia chuckled, "I believe you can determine their merit yourself."
"Well then please proceed," Harry said with a wide smile.
"Rufus Scrimgeour paid a visit me to today early in the morning," she said.
"I doubt this is one of the 3 news you mentioned," Harry added with amusement.
"No," Amelia continued. "He had brought two proposals."
"One for me… and one for you," she added.
"And what were those proposals?" Harry questioned.
"The first proposal… he wanted me to return back as DMLE head and subsequently take the lead role in the trials of the death eaters to be conducted," she replied.
"A really interesting proposal," Harry commented.
"Yes," Amelia replied as she explained the tripartite division in the public opinion; the same thing which Kingsley Shacklebolt had explained to Dumbledore. Amelia had reached the conclusion by her experience and by bits and pieces of information she had received from her allies in the ministry.
"Sounds plausible," commented Harry on whether the presumed explanation was possible or not.
"What do you intend to do?" Harry asked.
Amelia shrugged, "I plan to take up the role."
"What is your opinion?" She questioned Harry.
"Ultimately, it is your choice," Harry replied. "But I also believe that you should take up the role. I do not see any disadvantage in being a part of the government."
"The second proposal for me?" Harry steered the conversation back to the main topic.
"Well," said Amelia. "It was a message from the minister himself for you… more of a personal request kind."
"The minister wants you address the opening session of the Wizengamot when the trial starts," Amelia explained the proposal. "According to Rufus, the proposal was purely personal and other than the minister and himself- the messenger, no one was aware of such a proposal."
"Oh!" Harry muttered in a slightly surprised voice.
"Only if you accept this informal proposal… the minister will officially announce it to the public," Amelia added.
Harry placed his finger on his chin as he considered the issue.
"What do you think, Madam Bones?" Harry asked.
"Honestly, I am also confused," Amelia replied instantly. "There is no doubt that the minister is doing all this for his personal image and probable to get in your good books."
"But it can also not be denied that such an opportunity can also be used for or benefit," she continued. "Making a speech where the whole public and the wizarding Britain will hear you is not a chance to be let go easily especially when public image is the only thing in which we are slightly lacking."
Harry continued to think this through but remained uncertain.
"I will think some more about it," Harry added. "Probably a day or two."
Amelia nodded as she continued, "The third piece of news… is slightly more interesting and intriguing."
Harry raised his eyebrows as Amelia continued, "Albus Dumbledore is back on move again."
"An ally of mine, spotted Dumbledore in Diagon Alley along with Arthur and Molly Weasley," she informed. "I have no doubt that Dumbledore was holding one of his infamous meeting of the order of the phoenix."
Harry's eyes flickered with curiosity.
"What do you think is Dumbledore trying to achieve?" Harry asked.
Amelia shrugged her shoulders, "That man… has always been a web of mysteries. What he actually wants… no one has a clear answer."
Harry nodded. What was Dumbledore's true aim was still a mystery to him.
"Madam Bones, now that you would again be DMLE head," said Harry. "I need a favour from you."
"I want to meet any one of the death eaters… preferably Peter Pettigrew. I need to confirm few things."
Amelia, though curious about what Harry wanted to confirm did not press for it as Harry had not voluntarily disclosed himself.
"It won't be difficult," she replied. "I will take the charge tomorrow morning. You may visit in the afternoon."
Harry nodded as Amelia got up and took her leave.
