Chapter 193: Harry Vs. Dumbledore (3)
November 1994
Dumbledore's Castle
The ear piercing rage which had erupted from Dumbledore's mouth, ripples of magical waves started to emerge from him. Dumbledore was extremely furious and these erupting magical waves was a testament to it.
Dumbledore waved his wand horizontally and a long arc of blue light emerged from it. However, the spell was not aimed at Harry and the spell arc struck the big stone boulders lying on the ground from the ruins of the destroyed castle.
It was a levitation spell and around two dozen stones started to rise in air in a rapid speed and they only stopped their upward movement when the stones were almost 40 feet above the ground.
Dumbledore again waved his wand as another reddish brown spell arc left his wand. The arc struck all the boulders and in an instant all the stones transformed and took different shapes. Few of them took the shapes of spear, some of swords, some into large conical drills while some just assumed the shape of round balls. And every piece of the stone structure was massive in size. The spears and the swords were almost 15 feet in length while the drills and the round balls were also comparable in size.
This large scale transfiguration and Dumbledore's control over all the stones showed why this old coot had been called the 'greatest transfiguration' genius in history.
But even so, this was not the end of Dumbledore's move. Another spell left his wand and these transfigured pieces of stone were surrounded by different kind of elements. Lightning bolts crackled around the spears while red hot flames surrounded the round ball. A wave of raging wind was creating chaos at the tip of the conical drill and ice had covered the large blades of the swords.
"Bring that magical phantom of your Harry," roared Dumbledore.
"Only that can compete with me," he bellowed as he made a downward slash- like a cleaving motion with his wand.
Synchronized with Dumbledore's wand movement, the stone balls came crashing towards Harry. The heat being emanated from the stone was very high and Harry could feel the temperature rising as the ball moved towards him.
Harry was not caught off guard as a spell erupted from his wand.
Harry's spell struck at the centre of the incoming attack but contrary to what Harry had hoped- that the ball would be blown into smithereens, only a small crack appeared on the stone ball.
The power contained in Dumbledore's spell was much greater than Harry had assumed.
The ball continued moving in its trajectory towards Harry. He though did not flinch as he put large amount of magic in his spell and fired another one at the ball.
The spell would have probably accomplished what Harry had wanted but at the last moment Dumbledore whipped his wand back and like how a puppeteer controls his puppet the stone ball was pulled back from its trajectory as Harry's spell missed its mark.
Harry raised his eyebrow at this. He was slightly surprised as he had not expected that Dumbledore would still have such a large degree of control on his constructs. He would probably have to raise his game a bit.
Harry's face hardened and he jabbed his wand but it had not been aimed towards Dumbledore but at the ground beneath him.
Nothing happened for the first few moments but then the ground started to vibrate and green saplings emerged from it. The saplings continued to grow and soon it transformed into large vines.
Vines had emerged from two spots- on both sides of Harry like two powerful pillars. The combined thickness of the vines of one spot was more than 10 feet and it grown to enormous lengths of around 40 feet as the individual vines dangled like tails of an octopus.
Harry's gaze narrowed as he stared towards Dumbledore and one of vine pillar suddenly moved in an extremely rapid speed. Even before Dumbledore could react, the end of the vines had pierced the massive round ball which had previously attacked Harry.
Dumbledore in response tried to move the stone pillar but to his shock the ball had gone out of his control.
But Harry's attack did not stop as more branches of vine emerged in mid air and surrounded the stone ball. In mere moments the entire ball was surrounded by vines and crushed into fine powder.
"Harry…" Dumbledore raged once again and he made another slashing motion.
This time around half of the stone constructs moved towards Harry. He did not even move as the vines reacted on their own.
The vines spread and a large web of vines formed around Harry. The stone constructs came crashing down on the nets and though they were pushed back like stretchable fabric, the attack made no further damages.
In front of shocked eyes of Dumbledore, the previous happening repeated- the vines spread and surrounded all the stone constructs and in moments they were crumbled into dust.
And this was not the end- it looked as if the vines were getting stronger with each passing moment and in the next few moments the stone constructs which had been previously floating in air were ground to dust and Dumbledore could only watch helplessly.
Minerva and rest and who were watching the battle at a far distance away felt their throats turning dry. They could not comprehend the sheer scale of battle. They could not even imagine how powerful the vines were to ground such massive stone pieces which had enhanced by magic were ground to dust.
Meanwhile after destroying every stone construct, the vines had grown massive in size and their ends transformed into sharp edges as they moved towards Dumbledore.
(The battle will go on for one more chapter or one and half chapter. Also, please tell how do you like the concept?)
