Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1047: Tower's Will

Kyran frowned. He did not say anything but clearly disliked the idea of leaving them behind, especially Cyneah.

"We will keep the young mistress safe, master," Auto-one assured Kyran, his voice full of conviction. "At the very least, Aki and I are more than capable of protecting her."

He looked toward Diara and the rest while saying this because he did not believe they would be keen on keeping Cyneah, who was relatively a stranger to them, safe just because she was important to their master.

Kyran did not doubt Auto-one and Aki's abilities. He also believed that he could command the tower to send any group that would pose a threat to them to another location. But that was only possible if he was aware of their situation.

It was already established that communication between people at a certain distance inside the tower was difficult. Initially, Kyran thought that this would only be the case between two people on different floors or levels. However, he discovered that communication was also impossible even if they were at the same level but in different areas.

He discovered that after failing to contact Auto-one when he was in a different area.

The same could be said with Ladon and Thorn. The only way for them to know their current status was through the use of magic sense, and even that was limited.

Before Kyran could respond to Auto-one, clicking and snapping sounds filled the room, and the golden sphere began to disengage.

Diara and the rest of the Ancients looked at the spectacle before them in surprise.

"This...!"

Kyran and the others also watched as the golden sphere changed shape, turning into an arc-shaped door.

Shiloh and Uilleam were similarly surprised at what they were seeing. Frankly, after Shiloh's last attempt to make a point about how participants were transported to the next level, he and Uilleam inwardly agreed to keep their mouths shut and just observe how things transpired.

As they did, however, they soon realized that they could no longer follow their discussion. They more or less understood their topic, yet there were things being mentioned that did not make any sense to them. In the end, they stopped trying to make sense of their conversation and continued to observe.

Nevertheless, Shiloh and Uilleam stood by their belief about how participants were transported to the next level.

At that moment, however, their beliefs were shaken after seeing the golden sphere change shape. They initially thought the sphere could not be an item that would allow them passage to the next level. Seeing its shape and how the center of it looked similar to a portal, however, made them think otherwise.

Meanwhile, Diara and the rest of the Ancients were shocked at the size of the sphere's new shape. They knew the sphere would turn into an arc-shaped door, but normally its size would only allow passage for one person. But the door before them could allow several at a time. What did that mean?

Obviously, the tower adjusted to Kyran's wishes.

Diara and the rest of the Ancients felt Kyran's hesitation at leaving any of them behind. Of course, his hesitation did not mean he had grown attached to them. Rather, their knowledge of the tower and additional manpower could allow a safer journey for them. Considering this, it was obvious why he did not want to leave them behind.

Diara looked at Kyran speechless. She knew the tower already recognized him as the Realm Scion, but for it to indulge his every will almost in an instant was a little suspicious and even frightening.

"Looks like the tower doesn't mind you guys moving with me to the next level," Kyran remarked.

"What about Ladon and Thorn? Are we going to leave them?"

"They can just follow us after they accumulate enough points," Kyran replied to Cyneah's question with a slight frown.

"There is always an option of waiting," Diara chimed in while looking in the direction they just came through. "It seems like they are already finished."

Now that she pointed it out, Kyran did sense faint traces of their presence approaching from a distance.

"Then we'll just wait for them," Cyneah said. But then stopped and looked in Kyran's direction, "We can wait for them, right?"

Kyran looked at her and sighed inwardly. He wanted to say no, but that would make him appear petty. At the very least, he only disliked their treatment of Cyneah. They were not disrespectful in any way, but their over-protectiveness was annoying.

"Alright," Kyran replied after a short pause.

Shiloh and Uilleam tensed up each time Ladon's and Thorn's names were mentioned. This was because Shiloh and Uilleam were one of the few elites from the Blade Dancer Clan who joined the Solis Clan when they attacked the Dragon Clan a few months ago.

Shiloh and Uilleam did not feel that tension around Aki and Cyneah because they did not recognize them, but in Ladon and Thorn's case, it was different. After all, the latter two were one of the few elites of the new generation of the Dragon Clan that participated in defending their plane during the attack.

Sensing their apprehension, Kyran more or less guessed their concern and only said, "They will not attack you on sight, you can be at ease."

Shiloh and Uilleam looked at him before exchanging glances. In the end, they did not say anything. Only on m v|le|mp|yr

A few minutes later, Ladon and Thorn arrived. The first thing they noticed was the increase in the number of people there. Initially, they thought Kyran might have chosen to take the Solis Clan representatives as hostages rather than kill them. But upon seeing who the two additions to the headcount were, they were surprised to see someone from the Blade Dancer Clan.

"You two?" Thorn growled but that was all. He did sense a mark on their body and knew they were being kept as hostages.

Shiloh and Uilleam only looked at Ladon and Thorn without saying anything. They wanted to avoid confrontation, especially when they still could not circulate magic energy.

"If you need rest, do that after we move to the next level," Kyran did not beat around the bush and told Ladon and Thorn at once.

The two saw the arc-shaped door glowing in the middle of the room and guessed what was happening. Nonetheless, they did not expect to find the room that would let them transfer to the next level just like that.

"Master, what about those two other people with you?" Auto-one asked Kyran before the latter could proceed to the door.

"..."

Aki sighed after seeing Kyran's blank expression, "You... forgot about them."

"He kidnapped two more people?"

"..."

"Rather than kidnap... we have to disable the other one since he is from the Solis Clan, while the other one is Lady Leif. In case you are unaware, she is the one pretending to be Lady Anahia," Auto-one explained.

"That last part is unwanted information, Auto-one," Kyran told him. He appeared to be scolding him, but because of his uncaring attitude, no one thought he was angry.

"My apologies, master. If you are worried about them spilling information to others, I can simply zap their memory like I did Lady Leif and erase their memories."

"Right, there's that option."

"..."

Shiloh and Uilleam were speechless at how Kyran and Auto-one discussed scary things in a very relaxed manner. In a way, they were already getting used to their absurd conversation and starting to grow indifferent about it. They were not even surprised when they learned that Lady Leif was actually posing as Lady Anahia.

This information was actually valuable to them since it pretty much confirmed which clan the intruder who was suspected of having taken the portal in the unnamed plane belonged to.

"I guess we can't leave them here. We'll take them with us."

"Very well."

It did not take Auto-one long to bring out the unconscious Leif and the captured Solis Clan representative from the chamber because the chamber could be accessed anywhere as long as one was familiar with one's location in each area.

When Auto-one asked if they should wake them, Kyran replied with a curt no.

Ladon, Thorn, Shiloh, and Uilleam were surprised to find a Solis Clan representative.

Ladon and Thorn more or less guessed that Kyran had already encountered one but did not expect him to keep him alive. Then again, Kyran might have allowed him to live because he planned to interrogate him further.

Shiloh and Uilleam, on the other hand, were surprised because they also recognized the Solis Clan representative. The latter did not participate in the attack, but he was pretty well known among the Solis Clan Elites.

Aki carried the Leif since she remained unconscious, while Auto-one draped the Solis Clan representative over his shoulder like a sack.

"Let's go," Kyran finally said after seeing that everyone was ready.

After that, he went straight to the arc-shaped door and was the first one to enter.
