Legendary FBI Detective

Chapter 134: Malicious Email

"The woman in the video is named Ancona, 46 years old, one of the cleaners for the floor where the press conference was held."

Mona displayed Ancona's information to Luo An, then pulled up another surveillance video:

At the start of the press conference, Ancona was seen carrying a mop and walking in the hallway outside the meeting room, with her left hand always in her pocket.

The moment the explosion occurred, Ancona seemed to be startled, first sitting down on the floor, then hurriedly leaving the place in the ensuing chaos with the others.

"It appears she is the person who detonated the remote-controlled bomb."

After watching the two videos, Luo An pursed his lips, pondered for a few seconds, then tilted his head and said solemnly to Mona:

"Can we find any useful information from that car?"

"No."

Mona shook her head, tapped the keyboard a few times, then frowned and said:

"The license plate on that car is fake.

According to the surveillance cameras on the highways, the last we can trace is that the car drove into Lower Brooklyn."

In a place like Lower Brooklyn, just leaving the car on the side of the road would be enough for a good Samaritan to help clean it up in a matter of minutes.

Luo An fell silent for a moment, then thoughtfully said:

"Check Ancona's recent financial situation, see if we can find any useful clues."

"OK."

Mona nodded, her fingers resuming their dance on the keyboard.

Time flew by quickly, and soon it was time to clock out.

After work, Luo An and the others didn't go straight home, but drove to the hospital to visit Vireness.

However, Vireness was still unconscious at that time, lying in a coma on the hospital bed.

After exchanging glances, Luo An and the others had to leave first and planned to return the next day.

The next day, at Councilman Ma Tai's house.

Sitting in a study as spacious as the office area of Investigation Team No. 5, Luo An and Reesi exchanged glances and quietly sipped their coffee.

The NYPD had transferred yesterday's shooting case to Investigation Team No. 5.

Mona didn't find anything unusual in Ancona's bank account, but if the suspect had received cash and chosen to hide it, naturally, Mona wouldn't be able to find out.

So in the end, Mona decided to go with Lai Der to Ancona's house to take a look, while also visiting Ancona's relatives and friends to see if they could find any useful information.

"Cancel all dinner invitations for this week!"

Just then, a somewhat angry voice suddenly came from the corridor outside the study.

The next second, the door to the study was pushed open, and a middle-aged Caucasian with a long face and short beard came in with an elderly Caucasian in a suit.

"And cancel the interview with CNN too!

My father has just passed away, and they still invite me to be on the show! Damn it..."

Wilbur Matai, the son of Councilman Matai, was furious, while the elderly Caucasian beside him had a face full of sorrow.

Luo An and Reesi looked at each other, and Reesi was the first to stand and extend her hand to Wilbur:

"Hello, we are FBI agents, and we are here to..."

"I know, you are here to investigate that explosion case."

Wilbur interrupted Reesi before she could finish, quickly walked to the desk, grabbed a glass of liquor and poured it down his throat, then turned and said:

"Sorry, my father's death was so sudden, I spent all of yesterday afternoon and evening dealing with things, so I need a drink now to clear my mind."

Seeing Wilbur's bloodshot eyes, Reesi's eyebrows furrowed slightly, asking:

"Can we start then?"

"Yes."

Wilbur nodded, then picked up a bottle of liquor and took a big gulp.

Seeing this, Reesi's frown deepened, and she turned to look at Luo An.

Luo An did not mince words, he directly pulled out a notebook from his pocket and asked with a serious face:

"Mr. Wilbur, have you noticed any suspicious characters recently?"

"I don't know."

Will shook his head, indicating that he had to go to work every day, while Councilman Matai's daily destinations varied, so he was not aware of the councilman's daily activities.

Upon hearing this, Luo An scribbled something in his notebook and continued to ask:

"Then has your father recently offended anyone?"

"My father is a councilman, how could he not have offended people?"

Will curled his lips into a cold smirk upon hearing this question:

"As for recently..."

"Cough cough!"

Will was in the middle of speaking when the elderly white man who had been standing silently by the side suddenly started coughing.

The violent cough startled Will, and after he regained his composure, he hurriedly threw the glass in his hand aside, then said:

"I have a headache, for the following questions, you'd better ask him."

Luo An and Reesi frowned at these words, turning their gaze to the elderly white man.

"Agents."

Seeing their gaze, the elderly white man slowly revealed a smile and said in a quiet voice:

"My name is Adam, I am the butler of the Matai family."

"Hello, Adam."

Luo An held back the slightly restless Reesi with his hand, and then continued to ask with an unchanged expression:

"As the butler of the Matai family, you must know a lot about Councilman Matai's experiences before his death.

May I ask, has Councilman Matai recently offended anyone?"

"I'm sorry, I..."

Adam smiled faintly, about to deny, when Luo An directly said:

"I know what you want to say, but I want to tell you that although Councilman Matai is dead, the bombing may not be over yet, and this Will here is very likely being targeted by the killer.

Although you can hire bodyguards to protect yourselves at all times, there will always be moments when guards are lax, while the killer will never relax, so you can imagine the consequences..."

"What?"

Seeing Luo An speak these words with a serious face, Reesi's mouth twitched, Adam frowned deeply, and Will immediately straightened up:

"Where did you get the information that the killer is targeting me?"

Luo An didn't answer, but just smiled faintly and turned his gaze to Adam.

"..."

Adam fell into deep thought, while Will began to scratch his head and started to chug his drink furiously.

After a prolonged silence in the room, and just when Will was about to lose his patience, Adam finally raised his head and said to Luo An:

"Mr. Agent, before Mr. Matai passed away, he used to receive an email every day in his computer.

The content of the emails was very malicious, repeatedly threatening to kill Mr. Matai with a bomb."

——

The pitch-black SUV sped quickly in the direction of the Jacob Federation Building.

"Good job, Luo An."

Reesi sat in the passenger's seat, browsing the computer Adam handed to them while asking with a laugh:

"Luo An, do you think that butler Adam was telling the truth at the end?"

"Of course not."

Luo An shook his head, but with a simple thought, he guessed what the other person was hiding.

It was nothing more than other council members or organizations that Councilman Matai offended in his lifetime due to different interests or factions.

But those people or organizations, after all, were all for money; they wouldn't send a bomb into the FBI's jurisdiction to kill Councilman Matai.

After all, doing so would also offend the FBI, and for those people, offending the FBI would bring no benefits.

Ding-a-ling—

Just as the SUV was about to arrive at Jacob Federation Building, the cell phone in Reesi's pocket suddenly rang.
