Legendary FBI Detective

Chapter 352: Belize, Interrogation

Special Investigation Team, Office Area, 20th hour since Kara's disappearance.

In the three interrogation rooms, the young man in a suit Farhad, with his wounds treated, the Black Headscarf Man named Maxwell, and John Rodriguez, who caused a bit of trouble for the Special Investigation Team, were detained separately.

John's superior, Wan De, was taken to the office of the team leader Potante Byrne by Luo An.

After all, it was Potante Byrne who handed the case to the Special Investigation Team, and now that Luo An wanted to interrogate John Rodriguez alone, he naturally needed the help of Potante Byrne, who ranked higher than him, to deal with John's superior.

Luo An first entered the interrogation room where John was. He poured a cup of coffee and pushed it in front of John:

"Tell me, what exactly happened today?"

"It's a retaliation and a trap against me."

After sipping his coffee, John, with a blue and swollen face, gave a bitter smile and explained:

"Farhad and his people are actually related to a certain operation I handled before."

In John's account, a few years ago, the internal situation in Belize became problematic, and in order to protect a certain liberty and democracy ally, they helped "weaken" the enemy of this Democratic Party faction.

Farhad is the son of a high-ranking member of the hostile faction.

"..."

After listening to John's narrative, Luo An's expression remained unchanged, but his mind was a bit muddled.

The reason for the confusion was not that the mission mentioned by John was different from the one Wan De talked about, it was even the complete opposite.

After all, Luo An had already expected Wan De to lie, and he had anticipated to be misled by him.

What really baffled Luo An was... where is Belize?

It wasn't until Luo An pondered for a while and carefully recalled the map of America in his mind, that he remembered Belize was a very, very small country located under Mexico and above Panama, and its official language was English.

Luo An nodded imperceptibly, the federal government has always regarded America as its backyard.

Aside from a cesspool called Haiti, CIA's meddling can be found everywhere else in America; as long as a country's regime is not free or democratic, the CIA will deliver freedom and democracy to that country. What John talked about was plausible.

Luo An had no opinion on the conflict between John and Farhad; after this incident, John would definitely be scrutinized, targeted, and suppressed by the CIA side, simply because John had an experience of being captured.

Right now, Luo An only wanted to know the exact situation of Kara, he listened as John continued:

"Allen called me, and right after telling me about Kara's disappearance, I received another call.

The person on the other end sent me a photo of Kara and said she was in their hands, demanding that I must meet with them alone with five million dollars.

For my daughter, I agreed to their demands..."

Hearing this, Luo An figured out most of John's previous behavior. He thought for a moment, raised an eyebrow, and asked doubtfully:

"After you arrived at that abandoned industrial park, did you see Kara?"

As a professional CIA agent, John wouldn't venture into enemy territory alone without first confirming his daughter's situation.

Sure enough, John nodded and said gravely:

"After arriving at the industrial park, a guy in a hooded shirt, with an indiscernible face, gave me live video footage of Kara.

I spoke a few words with Kara, made sure the video wasn't a recording, and that Kara was okay before I entered the factory."

Then John was severely beaten by the enemy and exchanged fire with them.

After all, being alone, John was quickly captured, and upon seeing Farhad appear before him, John understood who the mastermind behind this trap was.

Luo An took out a notebook and wrote down John's words, pondered for a few seconds, then looked up and asked:

"So, you didn't actually see Kara inside the abandoned industrial park, right?"

John silently nodded, which is why he had said earlier that this was a trap specifically designed for him.

After asking John a few more questions and ensuring that the other party wasn't lying about key points and main details, Luo An stood up and left the conference room.

Pushing open the door to the interrogation room and walking into the office area, Luo An picked up his cup of tea and took a sip, then asked in a deep voice:

"Mona, Michelle, what's the status of the black Buick car that Dagney Mosses mentioned not too long ago?"

Mona leaned back in her chair upon hearing this and spread her hands:

"Sorry, we've got nothing. We can't find any clues about that car."

Reesi rustled the documents in her hand:

"Here's the information on the vehicles rented by Farhad and his crew in the past few days. Aren't these of any help?"

"No."

Michelle shook her head, and Mona explained:

"None of these cars are the Buick sedan driven by Kara's kidnapper.

This means either Farhad's gang used another car we haven't found yet to kidnap Kara, or..."

Luo An continued Mona's words:

"Or the real culprit behind Kara's kidnapping isn't part of Farhad's gang."

"Exactly."

Mona and Michelle strongly agreed, while Reesi frowned in confusion.

"But John had a video chat with Kara at that abandoned industrial park, which means they're definitely connected to the kidnappers... and their armaments are no trivial matter."

Luo An briefly recapped what John had told them and the state of their enemies during the operation, then after a moment of thought, he asked:

"Mona, have you found out the true identities of Farhad and Maxwell?"

"Of course!"

Mona tapped on her keyboard, Luo An leaned over to look, and the information displayed on the computer was almost identical to what John had said.

Farhad's father was the main person in charge of a certain gang in Belize, Maxwell was Farhad's father's most trusted subordinate and a die-hard loyalist, and Farhad himself had always been considered the heir apparent to the gang.

Since the gang's inception, they had used physical persuasion on Belize's local populace, but because they never crossed the federal government's red line, the federation had never bothered with them.

Until Farhad's father inexplicably started to target the federation, and so the CIA, led by John, immediately took action to support a rival gang.

Although this rival gang also employed heavy-handed tactics in Belize...

In the whole story, Farhad's father, the opposing gang, and the CIA led by John, none were genuinely good people. Farhad coming after John for revenge was just a case of a dog-eat-dog scenario.

"OK."

After quickly reviewing Farhad and Maxwell's information, Luo An finished the tea in his cup, stood up, and headed to the interrogation room:

"Reesi, join me in witnessing the avenger's journey of the heart."

"Okay."

At these words, Reesi chuckled and immediately took her notebook to follow.

Inside the interrogation room, the young Farhad's right hand was wrapped in bandages, his left hand was handcuffed to the interrogation table, and his feet were also shackled together. He sat in his chair, expressionless, quietly watching Luo An and Reesi.

"Hello, Mr. Avenger."

Luo An handed him a cup of coffee and sat on the interrogation table, looking down at Farhad with a smile, and asked:

"Our research shows that your father died at the hands of the people in Belize.

What are your thoughts on this manner of death?"

Upon hearing this, Farhad's eyes instantly reddened.

Luo An smiled slightly; in interrogations, it's not the anger from the interrogatee that's feared, but their lack of reaction.

Fortunately for Luo An, when dealing with a stubborn and utterly villainous person like Farhad, he had plenty of ways to stir their emotions.
