Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 157: No less than a horror show

The group kept their hands clasped with each other, it was a lifeline in this heart-stopping situation.

Since they had started moving toward what they assumed was the 'forward', weird things kept on happening.

"Did you feel that!?" Jerry looked behind at his feet which was somewhat in the dark.

The area of the light from the fireball had decreased from before as things were starting to get long.

Sarah was having a hard time in holding a big enough fireball as the mana consumption was intense, there was a limit to how much she could consume the mana potion. So, she had to reluctantly make the power and size of the fireball smaller for the long term.

"No, for the third time, there is nothing near your feat, Jerry," Bill said irritated as to how much Jerry had pestered him in the last hour.

"But I swear I felt something touching me on the feet, how can you all not believe me?"

"I think I am hearing the whispers of a little girl from the back…" Barney said.

"Shut up, Barney!" His mother rebuked him in fear.

Lucas had a shiver in his back, the very thought of a little girl whispering in someone's ear at a time like this shook the very core of his being.

Sure, Lucas was strong, smart, and even brave. But not in this ghostly situation.

'I can't do anything here, nothing is in my hand…" Lucas thought, his mind had been pretty tensed about the dungeon but there was another thought at the back of his head before, telling him that he was strong enough to survive this again.

Apparently, he was wrong again, he couldn't see anything, if someone were to hit him with a projectile right now, he would die or get hurt without a single struggle.

Lucas felt helpless, the darkness too was doing wonders on his brain.

For the good part of that hour, Lucas kept on looking at his back, thinking that someone was staring at him. It was a very eerie feeling, something he had left behind when he was only 10 years old but things have a way of coming back to stab.

The fear of the dark had returned again and it was ten times more heightened than before but he had nothing to say in that matter as obviously, he was the leader, the head of the group, he had no right of being scared when he could see the people around him all scared and confused.

Sarah was feeling very disastrous, her mana was in a constant burning sensation and her intake of the potion was also high, Lucas helped her drink it by stopping the round for a second and making her sip it from a small bottle of wood they had got from Daryl at a sweat price of one for a single small piece of meat.

"It's all in your imagination… just keep marching and we will reach the end," Lucas said with a voice that was communicably determined.

The adults felt calm and ashamed when they saw a nineteen-year-old kid having a better time than them in this horrifying situation.

"Do you want to stop?" Lucas asked with concern, his voice filled with pity for making Sarah work endlessly without stopping for all this while.

"We will have to, Lucas. Even with the mana potions, my mana is still draining fast and will reach 0 in a few minutes. I am sorry."

"Don't make me guilty by apologizing, please. Everyone! Let's make a camp here! Haley get three pieces of dry logs fast, we will make a small camp here."

"Are you sure? The situation couldn't be worse you know…"

"It is either we make a camp or we walk in total dark."

"..."

Haley took out three pieces of medium-sized logs on the ground which Lucas quickly placed at three different places.

After he placed them in different directions, they made a small triangle in which the whole group was tightly packed.

With the help of Sarah's fireball, the logs lit up in the dark, making the area they were in light up properly this time.

"... Better" Sarah finally deactivated her fireball skill after an hour of nonstop use.

She fell on the ground right in the middle of the triangle as there was enough fire to lighten up about six to seven meters around them.

"This feels safer, I knew this was a great decision, Lucas," Jerry said and sat near the middle too, the shield that was in his hand also fell on the ground as he sat cross-legged

Everyone sat one by one and so did Lucas. The triangle may have been small but it was enough to accommodate 11 people if they were to adjust.

"What's the plan?"

"... We just keep moving ahead," Lucas said with a deep sigh and looked at Bill for some hope.

"Did you find any dangers in the dark till now, Bill?"

"No, it's been peaceful all the way, if even a single thing passes by us or something, I will get to know from my skill and intuition, you don't have to worry."

"Alright, just don't wait for us to ask, tell us when you find something around us on your own."

Everyone sat there for a few minutes as the fire blazed calmly, the deadly silence could make anyone feel like they were in hell.

"And Jerry, there is no one grabbing your feet, if there was, then Bill would have known about it. Don't scare yourself and spare us the details the next time, please. And for you, Barney, it was not right to put in everyone's mind that some little girl is whispering from the back, it's distracting."

"But I am just telling what I heard," Barney complained but after seeing Lucas's dead serious face, he just reluctantly nodded in order for the topic to get over.

After he was done making things clear to the duo, everyone kept silent and moved their back to each other in order to face the dark.

It was creepy to keep looking at it but they had no other choice, if they placed their backs in the darkness, it was possible to die without knowing about that something was even there.

"Should we start moving, Sarah?" Lucas asked in a polite tone.

"Just a bit more, if you all don't mind, can I rest my eyes for a while? I need to refresh my brain too."

"Alright, we got time, these logs will be burning for a long time anyway."

Sarah after getting permission lay on the cold ground yet it didn't bother her. She had clasped her hands with Ella who was sitting just inches away from her.

Ella was also holding the hands of Haley and Sadra her sisters.

Lucas had the feeling to do the same thing yet declined the idea before it could even creep deeper into his mind.

Before anyone could notice, Sarah had rhythmic breathing entailing that she was now asleep.

"It is surprising that she can even sleep in this situation…" Haley said while holding her sister's and Ella's hand tight.

"She is too tired, having to activate her skill for hours on end and keep drinking the potions for the sake of not running out of mana is taking a toll on her body and she can feel the pressure," Lucas explained making the others get in their thoughts too.

"We shouldn't have even come to this place again, it's cursed," Sean said while averting his gaze in front of the dark, too many shapes of certain horrors had already formed in the dark for him and now he had no courage to keep looking.

Lucas wanted to rebuke but he had no words or comeback. He didn't find a reason in his mind or heart to return to this place other than killing that Boss monster for the objective.

'We could have tried finding the chest monsters first, why did I bring everyone to this place again… Sean may be right… it is cursed…'

Lucas didn't know but the others were looking at him, in this kind of situation, Lucas always came in front of the others and told them something practical and nice that made them have their hopes again yet this time, he was not only silent but also had a worried face.
Experience tales at My Virtual Library Empire

John wanted to tell Lucas that he couldn't falter but in his heart, he knew what the situation was.

If they were to go out and tell the others what they were experiencing, the people they would tell won't even be able to imagine half of what they were going through.

There was no toll on the body physically but it was compensated by the extra pressure on the mind.

Sarah's overuse of her mind and mana had led her to sleep quickly but not a single person was able to blink properly. Even thinking of closing the eyelids was bad enough for their hearts.

"Aunt Ella, wake her up, we can't stay here any longer."
