Chapter 230: Feelings
They were done with the small pack of monsters, Lucas looked at the sizzling and mangled corpses of them and could tell that it was not worth it to get them for the shelter.
They had everything ruined inside them and no mana stone so they just left them to be nourishment for the forest and also a reminder for the others that there is something bigger and more ferocious than anything in this territory.
Lucas wanted to engrave in every creature's mind that he was the leader of the area they were in, someone they should fear.
He looked at Sarah who still had her head down.
"What is it?"
"I am sorry for getting angry." She muttered with her head down, embarrassed from her outrage just now.
"Silly girl, you were right to get angry. They ruined such a great moment." Lucas said, again his hand on her cheek yet this time was different.
Alicia quickly got on her toes and gave a peck on his cheeks before going down again.
Lucas dumbfounded from the sudden attack on his lips looked at the girl who had made some distance, her face bloomed with the happiest smile he could have seen.
He did not mind the blood on her face and from her act, Lucas considered she didn't mind the blood on his face too.
"Come on~ Lets go hunt some more before dawn~"
After that, Lucas and her killed a lot of random things and every time there was a small trial of Sarah trying to get the creature to be passive.
It failed so miserably that now Sarah had started to throw a big ball of fire right at the creatures before they could even reach.
All of Lucas's work was to dry out the fire before the forest caught fire and reached the shelter.
Soon, dawn came and it was time for them to make camp.
Lucas took out all the equipment in his leather backpack and started the building.
All he had was some stumps that would go in the ground, two quilts, and a large thin leather piece as a tent.
With the help of each other, they made it completely and looked at the end product with triumph. Now only a fire was left and that was taken care of by Sarah.
They both looked in the opening where the curtain was open, there was as much space as a queen-sized bed in it and Lucas could only look at it dumbly.
His eyes went to Sarah who looked shy, it was one of her plus points. Lucas was bad at reading faces yet Sarah's emotions were so much on her face that it wasn't hard.
"So I guess we gotta sleep now. You ready?"
"Han? Oh, yeah… Wait? What do you mean by ready?" Sarah asked flustered than ever.
This time, Lucas couldn't help but chuckle. He wanted to tease her a bit more yet it felt wrong this time. It would only send wrong signals and Lucas didn't want that.
"Sarah, about that kiss," Lucas said and Sarah's face became even more shy and embarrassed.
"I enjoyed it."
Sarah looked up in surprise and stared at him with awe.
"M-Me too."
"But you have to remember, I won't force anything on you if you don't want to." Lucas moved near her and held her hands softly as if she was a treasure.
Sarah was looking up at him, her face showing what Lucas needed to know. She was happy.
Lucas sighed deeply and thought it was time. Enjoy more content from My Virtual Library Empire
"I like you, Sarah."
Sarah's eyebrows went up, and Lucas saw her freeze in front of him unmoving. He held his laugh in but deep down, he was scared. Scared of how she would react.
"I… I-I like you too!" Sarah shouted after closing her eyes for a few seconds.
They opened again and she looked at Lucas yet again, her heart bloomed with how happy and relieved Lucas looked.
Lucas pulled her hand up and gave it a soft and slow kiss sending shivers down her spine.
"You go and sleep, I will keep the watch." Lucas pulled her into the tent and closed the curtains behind.
"But" Sarah said yet Lucas kept a finger on her lips.
"Now who has the body tempering title? You or me?"
"… You" Sarah said sighing as she knew where this was going. It had happened before too.
"So who has the ability to pull an all-nighter without feeling even a little tired? You or me?"
"… You." Sarah's face showed annoyance yet Lucas pulled her cheek with a smile.
"Go and sleep, I will wake you in a few hours."
"Alright."
Lucas went near the campfire and sat down.
After a little time when he heard Sarah's breathing from afar, they were stable meaning she had fallen asleep.
"You came back huh? Got some guts, that I give you." Lucas whispered not wanting Sarah to wake up.
From the darkness in the side, from behind the tree, a man came out slowly.
Fear was written all over his face.
"I went away just when I came. I didn't hear or see anything." Bill said bitterly, his face had a frown that felt fake.
Lucas sniffed the air smelling fear coming out of the guy. He was sensitive to this particular emotion.
"I know, but I want to know why you came back," Lucas asked while stabbing the fire with a stick moving the burnt wood to the side and adding new without looking at Bill.
"You didn't give me any orders, what should I do now? Go back to the Kobold's settlement or somewhere else?"
"We will get back to it later but do you know what you saw today?" Lucas for the first time made eye contact with the guy.
Bill shieverd even when Lucas was all calm, something that was even more scary for him.
"I didn't see anything." Bill said after averting his gaze.
"Oh, you should wish that."
