"Nice," Lucas grinned. His eyes showed signs of nostalgia, as if he were reliving a memory.
The silhouette of the big machine changed to that of a metallic shade. It was a big catapult with icicles dangling from its frame.
There was nothing loaded on it, and Sandra couldn't help but feel panic again. A catapult with nothing to shoot was useless in her eyes. Though she could see a mist all around the catapult as if it were exuding chilly air. Continue your journey on My Virtual Library Empire
"Frost Aura," Lucas muttered under his breath. Just as he said that, the icy mist emanating from the catapult's foundation intensified, spreading in all directions.
Sandra saw the mist approaching her too, and soon, her feet vanished in the mist.
"FUCKKKK!!" she screamed in panic, yet Lucas kept his gaze ahead.
The mist was everywhere. Even Lucas's feet were submerged in it. The horde didn't seem to care, and although they were within the mist, they kept moving forward, oblivious to its effects.
Within seconds of marching, the soldiers began to slow down until their feet were fixed to the ground.
Lucas's grin grew even brighter. He glanced down at his feet and saw that they were completely covered with frost.
"This could be your training, Sandra. Feel the mana inside you and send it in bulk to your feet. The ice will melt on its own, you'll see," Lucas said aloud.
As he spoke, his mana covered his feet, and all the frost around them melted away.
'Cryo Bomb to the front, around the first in the horde,' Lucas gave a small mental command and dashed forward. The horde was stuck completely, struggling barbarically to tear the ice away, only to get stuck again with the next step.
The loader of the catapult shone, and a massive shard of ice materialized on it. Lucas was already running towards the horde and was inches away. His sword connected to the first among the horde, and the helmet of the humanoid monster came off as if it were nothing.
Lucas looked inside the monster and saw there was nothing there.
Satisfied, Lucas went on to behead as many as he could, his sword and hands moving at a speed that made them blurry.
Sandra was still busy trying to free her feet from the ice. Yet, when she looked up, it wasn't Lucas's movements that shocked her, but the massive chunk of ice in mid-air heading to the location where Lucas was.
She wanted to scream but saw Lucas dash to the left at a speed she hadn't seen before. The whole situation was so unbelievable that she didn't know what to think anymore.
BOOMMM!!
The massive chunk of ice fell directly at the horde's front. The monsters broke apart instantly. The blast intensified the mist, creating a blizzard-like effect in that small dungeon room.
Lucas got rid of as many monsters as he could. He looked forward and smiled. A large chunk of the land was now covered in uneven ice, and all the broken armors of the monsters were frozen mid-air.
There were still an endless number of them emerging from the light. Lucas took a few steps back.
'Maybe it's time for that?' he thought but rejected the idea. Instead, Lucas covered his sword with mana and slashed through the air one strike after another, sending arcs of mana slashes toward the horde.
CLANK! CRUNK! CLANK!
The monsters broke from the middle, and every single part of them fell apart upon impact.
Lucas continued sending mana slashes, each stronger than the last. He gave mental commands to shoot more massive shards toward the horde, and the process repeated itself.
For five minutes, things continued like that. Soon, the number of monsters emerging from the light dwindled.
After some more time, the horde stopped entirely. The ones trapped died soon enough, leaving the room covered with mist, ice, and metal scraps. Calm finally returned.
Lucas looked at his mana level, which had dropped to the halfway mark from extensive use. He uncorked a mana potion and glanced at Sandra, who was still struggling to move forward. She had made a few steps of progress, and Lucas could see her sending mana to her feet, which was a tremendous development.
"Summon cancel," Lucas ordered. The catapult vanished, leaving behind so much destruction that no one could believe it had once been empty.
Lucas knew the battle was over, so he used a certain skill minimally. His stomach expanded like a balloon until he expelled air aggressively from his mouth, dissipating some of the mist.
The floor became visible, and Lucas noticed Sandra's legs were slightly blue now. She was huffing while trying to free her feet. Even though the fight was over, it was clear she no longer cared and just wanted out of the ice.
"Do you need help?" he asked with a warm smile.
"Are you kidding?! Help me quickly! My feet are already numb!" Sandra said, shivering.
Lucas quickly went to her and crouched near her feet. He placed his hands on them, covering them with mana. The ice began melting right away until a big circle of ice turned into a wet floor.
Sandra fell to the ground, her feet completely numb from their prolonged stay in the ice.
"Y-You… You're too strong now. I'm not even kidding," Sandra muttered, looking around the room at the chaos that had unfolded. Lucas was going to comment yet someone spoke up.
-"You are at the point of the dungeon where each stage will significantly increase in difficulty."- The room spoke aloud startling Sandra.
"Difficult than this?" Sandra questioned in horror and continued, "Can't you decrease the difficulty for us?" She asked. Lucas could not help but chuckle at her direct question.
-"It's not in my hands, the stages are prepared randomly, I can't speak with you till the stage is over too. Though, with Lucas Garde's skills, you should not be feeling scared at all, Sandra Owen."- The overseer said out aloud with her robotic voice.
