Chapter 273: Road to Becoming a Village (2)
Back in the basement, Aoni stepped forward and began laying out multiple Node Stones on a small table while Nyria and Charlotte *hugging Glacia like a stuffed animal* watched from the far side of the room.
This had been a long time coming, the final step in unlocking his Lord's Display, SUMMONING SUBJECTS.
"Nyri, did Ao tell you what he's trying to summon?" Leaning over and rubbing her cheek against Nyria's soft feathers, Char asked in a whisper.
'chee…cheee..'
{'No, Sissy, he didn't give specifics, but after coming back from the ruins, he got a whole bunch of new Nodes, so it could be anything, especially if he…'} pausing, Nyria looked over at Glacia as the floof lazily relaxed in Charlotte's arms.
{'Upgrades them…'}
With a faint smile creeping onto her lips, Char easily registered that Nyria was originally gonna say the forbidden phrase that always triggers Glacia, yet at the last second pulled a fast one on the unsuspecting ball of fluff.
"MM, I saw what he got, and while there is quite a bit of uncertainty in his pulls, it should be feasible…in theory, at least."
"Chee chee?"
"Mm, a theory is an idea used to explain something like belief; Ao believed that if he used the stones from the ruins, there was a chance he could get some people from that civilization as his new followers."
---
As his sister and summons had their little conversation, Aoni sorted out well over 300 different nodes on the table, ranging from 1 to 2-Stars, with a hand full of Three-Stars added into the mix.
Although he didn't necessarily WANT to use the higher grade ones, as they could potentially summon too many beings in one go, that didn't mean the option was *no pun intended* off the table.
Once everything was in order, Aoni shot a glance at his yellowish-gold Flume, then diverted his attention back toward his Summon's Display.
Summon's Display
---
Flume Grade: ★★★☆
Territory Climate: Artic/Mountainous
Summon's Available: 3/40 (►)
---
Links of Subordination: 2/400
Everything that COULD be upgraded had been, with his Flume having unlocked its 4th star thanks to Limit Breaking his Attribute's grade, and most importantly, his LoS reaching a total of 400, something he would desperately need if he were going even to consider controlling whatever came out of the Flume.
"You three ready?" Aoni asked without looking back to check on their status.
"Un."
"Gao!"
"Chee!"
"Alrighty then, first up…" Snatching up one of the cheap nodes he'd bought from Caster's, Aoni crushed it, transforming the Node into a glowing light and pushed it into the Flume.
hhhhhUUUMMMM
FLASH
"Kuu?"
"Guu?"
The moment the light faded, two voices entered Aoni's ears as he formed links with his two new summons.
The small creatures resembled a floating blue ball of light, no larger than his palm, and unless he focused his eyes on them, he probably wouldn't be able to see their actual appearance.
"Ice Nymphs…good pull," Charlotte added, noticing that her brother seemed to be examining them a little too long, indicating he was observing their Information with his Inspection Ability.
Nodding his head in understanding, Aoni's eyes drifted away from the two fairy-like beings and came up with names for both...
"It's okay, you too; I'm your big brother, you…'* pointing at the small white nymph* will be Kuu, and you *pointing at the icy blue nymph* will be named Guu; welcome to the family, you two."
"Guu?"
"Kuu!"
Their reactions seemed to vary between confusion, acceptance, and excitement as the twins flew to either side of Aoni's face and hugged his cheek, bringing along an icy chill.
"Dummy Ao…"
"ga…gao…"
{'brodder name bad'}
"Click"
{'Sigh, no originality…how'd we get such good names…?'}
"What?"
"Do better…"
Ignoring the peanut gallery, Aoni spent a few minutes introducing the shy nymphs to his sister and summons before leaving them in their care and moving back toward the Flume.
'Question…did my multi-summoning free up with the upgrade of my flume?'
Indeed
'That's it, just confirmation, no you have X-amount of summons to use on a multi…'
The Host is getting far too comfortable extracting Information from this Attribute Notice
As such, Answers will now bear a cost determined by the sophistication of the question asked
'COUGH! Uhh…is there like a monthly subscription I can use to bypass that or…'
Answer: Cost 50 pp
'…'
…
*looks down at feet, then back up at AN*
…
*blink…blink*
"Ao…stop glaring at your chatbox…it looks weird." Watching the odd actions of her brother, Charlotte put two and two together and scolded him, snapping Aoni out of his staring contest and making him flinch.
"He started it…"
"IT is a function of your Attribute and not a living being. So this whole staring contest and arguing with it makes about as much sense as Glaci skipping dinner."
"GASP! OooOOooO!"
{'NO DIN DIN?'}
"Shhh, it's alright, Glaci, it was just a reference; of course, you will get din din tonight." Calmly petting the worried floof, Char corrected while allowing the Nymphs to hide in her hoodie, thanks to Glacia's sudden outburst.
"gaoo, WHEW."
Patting her furry chest in relief, Glacia leaned back lazily, allowing Charlotte to pet her and watching Aoni pick out nodes for the next summons.
Of course, once things calmed down, the two shy nymphs floated down and soon discovered how wonderfully soft Glacia's fur was. As such, they instantly became best friends with their new big sister.
---
No, there is no subscription service
'Tsk, waste of 50 fucking points, anyway, Multis…'
Answer: 500 pp
'Just take your damn blood money and hurry up,' resisting the urge to show his reaction outwardly, Aoni fed his hard-earned points to the AN.
Node Summoning has been completely refreshed, not once but twice. Each time the Territory Flume gained a new star, the Counter was reset, only instead of vanishing, those multi-summons carried over.
3-Star Flume: 3 Multi-Summons a Year, 60 Nodes of specified type in a singular activation
4-Star Flume: 4 Multi-Summons a Year, 80 Nodes of specified type in a singular activation
As such, the host currently has 3 Multis of up to 60 Nodes and 4 Multis of up to 80 Nodes
