Level 1 to Infinity: My Bloodline Is the Ultimate Cheat!

Chapter 169: Bad Name

As soon as the guy finished speaking, he noticed the icy glare in Ethan's eyes.

He paused for a moment, then suddenly got even more fired up. "Oh? What's this? You wanna mess with me, old man?"

"NoMoreCandy, just drop it, alright? You know how hard it is to find a high-DPS ranged player these days. Just let the guy reveal his name and level, and let's move on!" someone in the team tried to mediate.

"No."

"No!"

Ethan and NoMoreCandy spoke in unison, their voices overlapping.

"Uh…" Several others who were about to chime in suddenly went silent.

"You've got some guts!" NoMoreCandy, who was a mage class, clapped his hands sarcastically, a smug look on his face. He shouted, "You're one guy, and there are twenty-nine of us. You really think you can take us on?"

As soon as he said this, Ethan couldn't help but laugh.

He noticed that the people around NoMoreCandy, including the party leader, had subtly taken a step back, their eyes shifting away awkwardly.

"Seems like your reputation isn't exactly stellar," Ethan said calmly.

NoMoreCandy also noticed the shift in the group's demeanor and froze for a moment. He pointed at the others and yelled, "You… I'm gonna report this to the guild leader and get all of you kicked out!"

Hearing this, one of the team members finally snapped.

FrozenAffection: "I've had enough of your arrogance! Who do you think you are? You think the guild leader will just kick us out because you said so?"

As soon as he finished, another player quickly tugged at his sleeve and whispered, "Frozen, stop. Don't you know NoMoreCandy's cousin is the captain of the 19th squad in Renegade Alliance's warrior division?"

FrozenAffection hesitated, then fell silent.

The comment, though whispered, was heard by everyone.

NoMoreCandy puffed up with pride upon hearing this.

Ethan, however, was confused. What's going on? Renegade Alliance…

He frowned. His own Renegade Alliance had grown more influential than he'd realized. For a moment, he wasn't sure whether to feel proud or disappointed.

"Is Renegade Alliance really that big of a deal? I've never even heard of this 'warrior division'," Ethan said.

It was true—he hadn't heard of it. The division had been recently created by Celia to streamline management, and Ethan hadn't had a chance to catch up with her in-game yet.

When he said this, everyone looked at him as if he were an idiot.

In their minds, they were all thinking: Is NoMoreCandy right? Is this guy actually clueless? How can he not know about Renegade Alliance?

NoMoreCandy grinned. "Oh, this is rich. You dare look down on Renegade Alliance? Just wait until you're sent back to the Starter Zone! I've already called my cousin. He's on his way, and when he gets here, we'll see how tough you are then!"

Ethan ignored him and opened his chat, sending a message to Skyblade: "Hold off on the dungeon. Something important's come up. Bring the team out."

At the same time, the party leader who had invited Ethan sent him a private message.

FreeYears: "Dude, you should really leave. There's still time."

Ethan replied, "It's fine. Since when did Renegade Alliance get so cocky?"

FreeYears: "It's been like this for a while, but it's gotten worse recently. They've been bullying players from other guilds all over the place."

Ethan sent back a string of question marks: "??????"

FreeYears: "Bro, are you from Blackridge or Springhaven or something? How do you not know? The leader of the Renegade Alliance is the guy ranked first on the Northern Frontier Region leaderboard.

People call him the Druid God. He's ruthless, cold-blooded, and downright evil. Oh, and he's a huge womanizer. But the worst part is how protective he is of his own. If one of his people gets killed, he'll slaughter a hundred in retaliation. There was one time he wiped out over seven thousand players in one go…"

You must've heard about that, right? It's even in the pinned posts on the forums! That's why no one around here dares to mess with Renegade Alliance. They're untouchable!"

After hearing this, Ethan's heart sank.

'What the hell? Who's spreading these rumors about me being evil and a womanizer?'

If Renegade Alliance continued down this path, it would quickly become public enemy number one. At this rate, even if the guild didn't disband, it would be despised by everyone.

Looks like the guild system needs a serious overhaul, Ethan thought.

Just then, he noticed a group of about a dozen players strutting confidently toward them. As they passed, other players looking for groups quickly moved out of their way.

NoMoreCandy scurried over to them, pointing in Ethan's direction and whispering something to one of the members. Ethan squinted from under his cloak and saw that all of them wore the Renegade Alliance guild emblem on their chests.

After NoMoreCandy finished talking, the guy he'd spoken to turned and whispered something to the leader of the group. The leader glanced at Ethan, then nodded.

With the leader's approval, the guy called over a few more people, and together with NoMoreCandy, they marched toward Ethan with an air of menace.

Ethan couldn't help but laugh.

So, the cousin NoMoreCandy had been bragging about—the captain of the 19th squad in the warrior division was just another lackey. It dawned on Ethan that this kind of behavior wasn't limited to just one person.

Ordinary guild members like this guy were using Renegade Alliance's name to throw their weight around, and their friends and relatives were doing the same.

Renegade Alliance's reputation was indeed spreading far and wide—just not in a good way.

How many more rotten apples like this are there in the guild? Ethan wondered. The whole pot might already be spoiled.

The thought sent a chill down his spine. If things continued like this, Renegade Alliance was doomed.

By now, the guy had reached Ethan.

"I'm FallingShell, captain of the 19th squad in Renegade Alliance's warrior division. I hear you've got quite the attitude," he said with a noticeable puff to his chest.

Ethan had already seen the guy's name. In the guild hierarchy, lower-ranked members couldn't hide their names from higher-ranked ones, even if they tried.

FallingShell stepped closer to Ethan, his chest practically pressing against Ethan's stomach. Despite being a head shorter than Ethan's 6'2" frame, he carried himself as if he were the one in charge.

Slap!

Everyone watching the scene felt their eyes widen in shock.

Then, as if on cue, the entire crowd took five or six steps back.

This is about to get ugly, they thought. Better stay out of the line of fire.

Whispers broke out among the onlookers.

BloodEmperor: "Holy crap, this guy's insane. He just hit someone from Renegade Alliance!"

WildThoughts: "Insane? More like legendary. Did you see that slap?"

RoseOverflow: "Wow, that guy's so hot!"

SSS-Rank Blood Emperor: "Girl, stop drooling. He's about to be hot… as in dead."

FallingShell staggered from the slap, his face frozen in disbelief. It took him a full five seconds to process what had just happened.

"You… you dare hit me?!" he finally shouted.

As soon as the words left his mouth, the other Renegade Alliance members rushed over, surrounding Ethan.

Ethan, however, remained unfazed. He casually said, "Sorry, but could you not stand so close to me? You've got terrible breath."
