Chapter 481: Hunting and Killing
Everyone in the room looked at Rio. Their expressions varying from doubt, disbelief, and anger.
Agnus slapped his hand on the table, reducing it to dust in the air. While a sharp sword intent rose behind him as the Shade trembled in the void, after sensing the fury of it's master.
"Calm down, Agnus." Mirai repeated the same words the Duke had just lectured his son about. "We don't know whether what Rio said is the truth or not."
"Not to mention the affairs of the Ruin King, who's always been hidden. But also the fact that we've never even heard of such a technique existing. Even in towers or any singular books."
"Father is right." Servirous also nodded his head, and explained. "We don't know the truth yet."
Seeing everyone speaking against his son, Agnus wanted to argue that what Rio said was probably right, as he had seen the future through the blessing of fate by Skuld, but that was a secret only Artemis and he knew about. And no one else.
"He's telling the truth." Patricia spoke, her words, making the group go silent.
No one doubted Rio's words this time. As unlike him, who lacked both age and experience, the witch was known to know everything..
But while everyone became silent, thinking about the consequences of that wild claim, the mysterious man who had been silent from the beginning finally opened his mouth to speak.
"Did Nyx reveal this information to you?"
Rio glanced at the blurry figure and replied without changing his expression.
"She and Gauri are bitter rivals, after all."
The mysterious man just nodded his head and then became silent like everyone else.
Servirous was the first to break this silence and start the topic again.
"Then what should we do next?" He asked, looking at Rio for the answer.
"If we want to protect Amy, we need to kill Ubbe, before he can come into any contact with her."
Rio met his gaze and then without shying away, announced his response in a cold tone.
"Amy's chaos control is already a little weak, and with how proficient Ubbe is, the success of his soul art would be as high as 99.9%."
"Do we know where Ubbe is?" Mirai asked. Already planning to murder the perpetrator and solving the trouble.
"What does it matter? I can storm their base with my guild, and raze it to the ground." Agnus spoke in a calm tone.
Somewhat believing in his father Samuel's famous quote - 'Every problem can be solved with murder and a swing of my sword. And if one doesn't work, just swing a few more times.'
"You would do no such thing." Rio immediately refused this plan.
His tone, leaving no room for negotiation.
"You need to find a way to lure him out and then kill him with one strike."
"If he escaped once then… ."
Rio stared at his father while giving the final instruction. Looking away only after his father got his clue and nodded with the same seriousness.
"Well, since the threat from Ruin palace is settled. Then we should discuss how to make sure Amy is safe until then." Mirai said.
"That's no problem. I've talked with Artemis. She'll handle the academy affairs. The team of Alphas would keep Amy safe at home."
"Damascus is Blake's territory. Not a single assassin would dare set foot there." Agnus boasted with great confidence.
Only to be bluntly humbled by his father in law.
"Humph, and lotta good that would do." Mirai sneered. "You Blake's have more enemies alive than anyone on Arcadia combined."
"Your father, Samuel, has killed more men than monsters , in the tower he's raiding.
You, a guild leader, don't get along with any of the top five guilds.
While your wife dared to refuse the proposition of the royal family. Slapping a royal prince. And sending that king of yours, back home with a fuming face."
…(Speechless Agnus face)
"Your son, Rio, has enmity with … let me see - A duke whose heir he crippled permanently. A count whose son he bullied daily in academy. And what else, two baron houses whose treasure trove he destroyed while fighting a freaking god."
"Ohh, and let's not forget his favorite, an intercontinental terrorist organisation whose hands can be traced in every war and battle fought in Arcadia over the last thousand years."
…(Speechless Rio face)
"Now off to your daughter…she tortured a goddess with a petty brain over a prank. And then pulled hairs with the craziest cult on the continent."
"The last one wasn't Amy's fault." Agnus immediately responded, trying to defend his sweet doll.
… (Speechless Mirai face)
"Cough cough"
The mysterious man coughed , breaking this game which really opened his eyes.
"Anyway, what I mean is , I'm not sure Blake house is exactly safe considering everything." Mirai replied.
"I think so too. Which is why I suggest we transfer Amy to Sunshine academy." Patricia suggested.
Her words making Agnus rethink his earlier decision.
But before the obedient son could give in to his mother's suggestion, Rio decisively refused the decision.
"Amy will stay at the Zenith academy." Rio said, looking at his grandmother. "I'll make arrangements, and make sure she's safe there."
"You will make arrangements? Meaning – you will be there, right?" Servirous asked after some thought.
But hearing his question, Rio shook his head, before replying. "No."
"I'll be taking a short leave for a couple of weeks. Maybe a month." Rio said and added again after some thought. "Maybe two."
"..."
His words catching everyone off guard yet again.
After a short few seconds of silence, Agnus was the first to break free from this shock. And couldn't help but shout in anger. "Are you out of your mind?"
Rio glanced at his father calmly, as he had already expected this outburst.
"There are some things…." Rio tried to explain, but Agnus cut him off as he left his seat and stood over him.
"Need I remind you of how many times you've been attacked, assassinated against, or nearly got killed over the past couple of years."
"You're not going anywhere and that's final." Agnus announced.
"He's right. What are you even thinking? Leaving the academy?" (The mysterious man)
"Does Zenith even have holidays that long?" (Patricia)
"Patricia is right. None of them should've joined Zenith." (Servirous)
"Heh, the kids didn't want to act as young masters of Sunshine and went to Zenith with passion, and now they're leaving that too?" (Mirai)
Rio glanced at everyone opposing his decision, and instead of arguing just stayed silent.
No need to fight in front of Ravens, when he just needs to convince his own parents.
(It'll be tough.) Rio thought, feeling a headache just thinking from the many lies he'll need to tell to convince them.
