Chapter 959: Maybe they were bad at sex? [2/2]
"I do not understand Zanele-san. You said the Successors fell in love with the Sins. They even shared a night of passion. How could they kill their partners in an instant without any remorse?"
"I am sorry, but I do not know the answer. The only commonalities I found were that it always happened after they made love. Upon waking, the Successor would change and speak of visions. The Sins would then isolate themselves."
From Zanele's explanations, it seemed that there was more to this than meets the eye. I tried to reflect on my own experiences. What changed after I first slept with the Sirens? I thought for a few moments and couldn't remember.
'Maybe they were bad at sex? I don't remember anything unpleasant from my time together with the Sirens. Just the joy and contentment of loving my harem.'
I remembered the weeklong honeymoon my girls and I had. We had all kinds of sex, from lovey-dovey sex to carnal lust as we mated like animals. We even did role play, orgies, and used aphrodisiacs. The worst part of it was when I had to punish them.
None of the girls spoke to me. But I could sense the large amount of digital signals flying between them. They must have been trying to piece this thing much like I have.
'If sleeping with my girls was the factor, then the Sirens and I already cleared that. That probably means we are different, right? I don't know how a single night of sex would suddenly cause them to change so much.'
[My lord, I think you are mistaken.]
'Huh? What do you mean, Exa?'
[Zanele's explanations have a hidden implication. It seems, from her words, that each Successor bedded their Sins.]
'Yeah, so?'
[Assuming they behaved like normal people. After mating, the couple would have snuggled and slept together. Thus, I theorize that the change manifested in the Successor from two acts. Sleeping with his designated Sin and entering REM sleep after.]
'Again, I am failing to see your point.'
[My lord, you spent your honeymoon loving the Sirens. But you didn't enter REM sleep until more than a day later.]
I then tried to remember what happened. It was a blessing that I had {Gather} for times like this. It made forgetting shit almost impossible. As I tried to reminisce, I tried to remember what happened after my honeymoon.
'Let's see, I woke up, learned of David's schemes, got new guns from Vincent. Then the whole thing with Alicia followed. Then we visited the Simmons. Phillip then gave his lecture about malice afterward. We then immediately went to Hellsgate.'
[Correct. This meant that by this point you were already operating for more than ten days without a wink of sleep. Please continue.]
'Okay… After I got to Hellsgate, I told them of our plans. Then I met all the ones who wanted to join. That was also the time I met with Gareth, Leo, Nyda, Amari, and Mia. It was where I created Operation Rock, Paper, and Scissors.'
[Yes. Go on.]
'I then asked the officers how to strengthen Hellsend. After messy talks with the girls, we created {Call My Name} and {Kill Switch}. They then fainted and… I-I…'
[Yes. After they fainted, you were distraught. When the ladies finally woke up, you all began to make love again for a considerable amount of time. It was only after that round of lovemaking that you finally succumbed to exhaustion.]
'…'
I now understand why Exa hammered this point home. According to her explanation, the change in the Successor needs to do two things first. To mate with a Sin and sleep. In that order.
And when you considered that I only slept after I passed out after {Call My Name} was created. Then there was something that happened in that period. For one, when I woke up, I found myself in the door room.
A large difference manifested during that moment. It was the night when the seven doors in the door room gained portraits of the Sirens. Or more accurately, their {Fates}, the former goddesses. And if that was not enough, that was also the last time I spoke with my own {Fate}.
{Things have finally begun to move. And now you are at the same starting point, John Smith. Everything you seek is through those doors. I await for your answer the next time we meet. Farewell. Buddy.}
"Fuck…"
At my sudden outburst, Zanele and the Sirens all turned toward me. I ignored them and focused on my own thoughts. The door room was something I never really understood. I had somehow guessed what it was for using anime and manga.
In some stories, a realm in another dimension existed for the main character to train in. It usually allowed cool shit like time dilations, or reliving the memory or future of another. They were all different, but at its core, this period was for the hero to train.
I was no idiot. I might have been academically challenged. But I was quite the genius when it came to video games and predicting plot lines in anime and manga.
As such, I had long associated the doors in the door room with the only two other things I couldn't explain. The memories of the seven warriors and the dreams of the Siren's demise. These three things all lined up perfectly.
I guessed each door linked to a timeline or adventure from the mythology of each incarnation and Siren. Which was why there were seven of them labeled with each goddess.
'Exa. Be my sounding board for a bit.'
[I understand. You may begin.]
'From your earlier hypothesis. If I didn't sleep with all the Sirens after my wedding and only did it with one of them, only one door would appear correct?'
[Indeed. Or, more accurately, only one door would be "activated".]
'Right. So, if we assume that each door leads to a successor going on an adventure, then it makes sense, right? That they would speak of things they saw and experienced. They would have lived the memories of that specific mythology.'
[Agreed. That explanation seems plausible.]
'Then why did the Sins all isolate themselves afterward? Why did they either kill themselves or fight the Successor? Or more like, did these fuckers truly love their Sins if they just killed them for a single fight?'
[I do not know my lord. I agree. There is a high chance the doors caused the Successors' odd behavior. Using your experience as a sample, the Successor would mate with his Sin. Then, he would sleep. Upon waking, he would find a door in his mind. After entering it, he would return as a different person.]
Nodding, I turned to Zanele. She had stopped talking. Probably waiting for me to finish my contemplation. Her actions reminded me of the Hellsend officers.
"Zanele, did the Successors and the Sins ever mention a past life together?"
At my words, the Sirens all flinched. While I told the girls about the door room, I didn't mention {Rewind}'s ominous words after he left. I also had yet to tell them that I had met their {Fates} on more than one occasion.
The entire room waited for the Soldat's answer with bated breath. Her answer would be the final nail I needed to understand what the fuck was going on.
"Yes. Not all of them shared about it, which was why I was saving it for later. But more than one of the Sins for each Successor mentioned them sharing a romance from a past life. I even guessed that it was why the Sins sought the Successors so desperately in the beginning."
