Live Treasure Appraisal: Your Pokémon Can't Breed!

Chapter 1: 1.

Ye Yinchuan, still half-asleep, thought he had heard thunder and instinctively wanted to go outside to bring in the laundry.

Turning his head, he saw a strange creature with two large ears, blue-and-white fur, resembling both a rabbit and a cat, standing beside his bed. It was looking up at him with weak, pitiful, and helpless eyes.

"What the hell?!"

Ye Yinchuan instinctively backed against the wall, startled by the unknown creature.

"Did I wake up too fast? Wait a minute..."

He took a closer look at the creature.

Dark blue skin, a white belly, round eyes with tiny pupils, and an intelligent gaze.

It vaguely resembled Doraemon, but there was no doubt about it—this was a Munchlax from Pokémon!

After all, this intelligence wasn't the kind of intelligence he was used to.

Taking another look, he noticed its large mouth with two sharp fangs, long shaggy fur draping down like a cloak, and white paws with three claws barely visible underneath.

"Uh…"

The Munchlax opened its mouth slightly. The rumbling sound from earlier wasn't thunder—it was the sound of its stomach growling from hunger.

At that moment, a sharp pain shot through Ye Yinchuan's head as a flood of memories rushed into his mind.

His life trajectory hadn't changed much—he was still himself, an orphan who grew up in a welfare home. After graduating high school, he entered the live streaming industry.

The only difference was—

"Huh? I transmigrated? A parallel Pokémon world?"

Looking at the adorably dumb Munchlax, Ye Yinchuan smiled bitterly.

He was already struggling with barely thirty bucks to his name, and now he had to feed a gluttonous Pokémon like Munchlax?

How was he supposed to survive?!

From his memories, this Munchlax was something he had picked up off the streets.

Back then, he saw it scavenging through trash and felt sorry for it, so he brought it home.

Within two days, he understood why it was eating garbage—because Munchlax needed to consume its own weight in food every day!

A regular household couldn't possibly afford to feed it.

But since he had brought it home, he refused to abandon it. He relied on his meager live stream earnings, barely managing to keep the Munchlax alive… by starving it!

Yes, it lost weight because there wasn't enough food to eat.

The only problem was that it was severely malnourished and not growing properly.

But it didn't matter—Ye Yinchuan wasn't aiming to be a professional Pokémon Trainer. He didn't care about combat strength, though it was unfortunate for the Munchlax.

Maybe it was better off scavenging trash instead… at least until the city patrol caught it.

"I remember you keep a couple of steamed buns under your fur. Take them out and eat them."

Ye Yinchuan looked at the Munchlax with a fond smile.

Sure enough, the Munchlax reached under its long fur, pulled out two steamed buns, handed one to Ye Yinchuan, and placed the other in front of itself.

Its wide mouth curved slightly, as if smiling warmly.

It was saying, "One for you, one for me."

Even though it was starving, it hadn't forgotten that Ye Yinchuan needed to eat too.

"Go ahead, eat up."

Ye Yinchuan rubbed its fluffy head, enjoying the soft texture of its fur. Its big ears twitched slightly, making it even more endearing.

The Munchlax opened its mouth wide, and the steamed bun disappeared instantly—as if it had fallen into a black hole.

Then, it turned its big white eyes with tiny pupils toward the bun in Ye Yinchuan's hand, staring intently.

Ye Yinchuan paused and looked at his own steamed bun.

After finishing half of his plain steamed bun for dinner, he picked up his phone and checked the news.

Only then did he confirm—he had really transmigrated into a parallel Pokémon world.

Today's headlines read:

"Two Rhyhorns collided inside a tunnel due to exhaustion. Fortunately, no Pokémon or humans were injured!"

"A corrupt businessman illegally kept nearly a hundred Pikachu and forced them to generate electricity! This severe violation of Pokémon labor laws has resulted in heavy penalties!"

Pokémon, also known as Sprites in this world, were naturally occurring extraordinary life forms.

Here, humans and Pokémon were inseparable.

People captured, trained, and bred Pokémon, viewing them as partners and helpers.

Whether it was daily life, competitive battles, or wild expeditions, Pokémon played an indispensable role.

For example, Ponyta was an excellent mode of transportation. Machamp worked in construction. Arcanine assisted police officers. Chansey helped nurses care for patients.

Pokémon, as supernatural creatures, also had immense combat potential.

A Squirtle could spit water. A Charmander could breathe fire. A Pikachu could release electricity.

Everything in this world revolved around Pokémon.

Even live streaming was Pokémon-centric, making it the most popular category.

Becoming a Pokémon Trainer required money.

Especially for battle-oriented Pokémon—the cost of food and nutritional supplements, the registration fees, and the materials needed for evolution all added up to a massive expense.

With no family or background, Ye Yinchuan had dreamed of owning a Pokémon after graduating high school.

His plan had been to earn enough money through live streaming to buy his first Pokémon egg.

But instead, he stumbled upon Munchlax, and his life goal shifted from buying a Pokémon to feeding one…

"Well… it's not so bad. Compared to being a real orphan, at least now I have a cute Pokémon."

Accepting his new reality, Ye Yinchuan smiled optimistically.

Seeing a rent reminder from his landlord, he felt a headache coming on.

Rent was due soon, and his bank balance was barely thirty bucks…

No wonder he was eating plain steamed buns every day.

"Is there even a future in live streaming…?"

Looking at his few hundred followers, Ye Yinchuan felt lost.

Luckily, he had joined a streamer guild, which guaranteed him a $1,500 monthly salary, enough to barely scrape by.

"Whatever. As long as I have food, I'll keep going! I won't starve to death—I'll make it one day!"

At that moment, a crisp notification rang in his head.

[Ding! The Live Treasure Appraisal System has awakened!]

Ye Yinchuan froze. His golden finger had arrived?!

His heart pounded with excitement. Without hesitation, he chose "YES!"

"Now this… is something!"

Ye Yinchuan's hands trembled.

With this ability, how could his live stream not explode in popularity?!

It was only a matter of time.

Just as he was about to test his new skill on Munchlax, his phone rang—it was his guild manager, Hu Yue.

The moment he picked up, a hesitant voice spoke.

"Ye Yinchuan… I'm sorry. The guild's shareholders just issued an order—any streamer without three months of growth will be fired. But don't worry, you'll still get this month's salary…"

Ye Yinchuan's expression didn't change.

"Got it, Hu Yue-jie. If there's nothing else, let's talk on WeChat—I have a stream to start."

Hu Yue hesitated. "The guild will also be reclaiming your live streaming account…"

"I'll just register a new one."

His voice was relaxed.

With the Live Treasure Appraisal System, he was destined to blow up.

No guild? No problem!

A new era was about to begin.
