Live Treasure Appraisal: Your Pokémon Can't Breed!

Chapter 6: 6

"Oddish! You…"

CarrotLady never expected Oddish's evolution to come so suddenly.

In that instant, she felt a wave of overwhelming joy, quickly covering her mouth to stop herself from losing composure in front of the livestream audience.

The viewers also took notice of the change:

[No way? It's evolving just like that?]

[This is going to be interesting. We'll find out real soon if it still stinks or not!]

[Who still thinks this is scripted? Who the hell can time a Pokémon evolution this perfectly?]

In this world, the conditions for Pokémon evolution were largely unknown.

Most of the time, evolution happened without warning, taking place naturally as Pokémon grew stronger.

For Oddish, the primary condition for evolution was simply reaching level 21 while receiving sufficient nutrition.

As for why it hadn't evolved before, yet suddenly evolved now?

It wasn't purely coincidence. In Pokémon games, some Pokémon evolve through friendship, requiring a high level of trust and emotional bond with their trainer.

Applying this logic to the real world, it was possible that Pokémon evolution wasn't just about strength but also involved emotions and a degree of personal willpower.

Ye Yinchuan had every reason to believe that this Oddish had been on the verge of evolving for a while. However, due to being constantly disliked for its stench, it resisted evolution, fearing that becoming a Gloom would make it even more unbearable to others.

But just now, after all of Ye Yinchuan's praise and validation, its mindset had shifted. Its reluctance had melted away, and everything had naturally fallen into place. Evolution was simply the inevitable outcome!

It seemed sudden and unexpected, but in reality, it made perfect sense!

On-screen, Oddish was fully enveloped in a brilliant white light. Its form blurred within the glow, its silhouette stretching and morphing as its body underwent transformation.

Its previously soft and round body grew larger and more robust, developing a pair of root-like arms and longer legs, granting it improved mobility.

The five green leaves on its head disappeared, replaced by four light brown sepals that supported four round, reddish-brown flower buds. These buds clustered closely together, forming a single blossom, each adorned with a distinct spot.

Oddish's tiny, beady eyes transformed into narrow, drooping slits, making it appear as if it was perpetually dozing off.

Its mouth became thick and purple, its lips resembling plump sausages. From the corners of its mouth dripped a viscous, nectar-like fluid.

This was Gloom—a Pokémon whose appearance, while not conventionally cute, carried an oddly endearing charm.

As Oddish completed its evolution, the livestream chat erupted in excitement:

[Whoa! First time seeing an Oddish evolve live!]

[That chunky lip look is kinda adorable, ngl!]

[Uh… but who's brave enough to sniff its mouth?]

[This livestream is wild! I'm totally hooked!]

The total number of viewers shot past 100 and was steadily climbing towards 150!

For a brand-new streamer, this was an impressive milestone!

Ye Yinchuan felt a surge of excitement and confidence.

He had successfully taken his first steps toward building his audience. As long as he handled this wave well, the platform would push even more traffic his way!

But just as the hype reached its peak, the biggest troublemaker in the chat struck again:

Contrarian: [Alright, fine! It evolved! Now we'll see if the streamer was full of crap or not! There's no way a Gloom isn't stinky! If it actually doesn't smell, I'll drink Gloom's nectar live on stream!]

NutritiousYarn: [Dude, can you stop trying to scam free food?]

SpringBlossoms: [Actually, Gloom's nectar is super nutritious. It smells bad but tastes amazing!]

Ye Yinchuan glanced at the trio of chat regulars, unable to hold back a chuckle. Regardless of their antics, they were boosting engagement, which only made his stream more lively and popular!

But as for Contrarian…

Ye Yinchuan made a silent vow—I'm not ending this stream until I make this guy eat his words!

Meanwhile, on the video call, CarrotLady anxiously examined her newly evolved Gloom.

Evolution had happened.

Now, the moment of truth had arrived.

Would her Gloom actually be less stinky, just like the streamer claimed?

With hundreds of viewers watching, she took a deep breath and pulled the tissue plugs from her nostrils.

For a brief moment, everything was silent.

Then—

Her eyes widened.

She gasped.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

"It's true… It's really true! Oh my god, I'm gonna cry again!"

She tilted her head back, trying to hold back her tears, but they still spilled down her cheeks.

She had suffered so much because of Oddish's overwhelming stench.

But did she ever stop loving her Pokémon?

Of course not.

If she didn't love it, she would have abandoned it long ago instead of moving out of her dorm, trying every possible method to fix the issue, and clinging to even the slightest hope that a solution existed.

CarrotLady threw her arms around her Gloom, hugging it tightly.

"I'm so sorry! I never should have thought about giving you up. You're such a wonderful, amazing Pokémon. I've completely misunderstood you all this time!"

Gloom gently wrapped its stubby arms around her in return, softly patting her back as if to console her.

The chat exploded with emotion—

[Damn! This is straight-up touching! Someone put this on national TV!]

[Thank you, streamer! Thank you, CarrotLady! My soul feels warm again!]

[This is what Pokémon is all about! Love and trust!]

[Crap, my eyes must have something in them… like an Onix-sized tear!]

Ye Yinchuan smiled, nodding as he clapped. He didn't want to ruin the heartfelt moment.

But of course, one voice refused to shut up.

Contrarian: [What's so touching about this? It's all scripted acting! There's no proof that this Gloom doesn't stink! You're all idiots!]

For the first time, the entire chat turned against him—

NutritiousYarn: [Yo, streamer, just ban this guy already. He's like a stray dog barking non-stop.]

SpringBlossoms: [Sigh… Young people these days, man.]

Other viewers chimed in:

[Bro thinks he's the only smart person in the world.]

[LMAO this guy probably failed basic science.]

[You're just mad because the streamer was RIGHT! Cope harder!]

Ye Yinchuan smirked, watching the flood of chat messages.

He didn't even need to say anything—the viewers were handling Contrarian for him!

But just then, one suggestion caught his eye:

Chat: [Streamer, what if CarrotLady orders delivery? If the delivery guy doesn't say it stinks, then it's officially confirmed!]

Ye Yinchuan grinned.

"Good idea! This channel is all about real, authentic content—no tricks, no scripts! Let's do it! CarrotLady, order whatever you want! My treat!"

He said it with confidence, but deep down, he was praying—

Please don't order something expensive… I only have 30 bucks left…

A few moments later, CarrotLady ordered a milk tea, burning 20 of his precious yuan. Off-camera, Ye Yinchuan clenched his leg in pain.

This had better be worth it.

To ensure a fair test, CarrotLady bathed Gloom, aired out the room, and reminded it to stay calm.

Now, they just had to wait.

Meanwhile, Contrarian kept arguing with the entire chat, desperately trying to justify his stance.

But CarrotLady was no longer shaken.

She had only one goal now—to prove the streamer right.

And at that moment—

The phone rang.

The delivery driver had arrived.
