Chapter 7: The Eye Behind the Mirror
Chapter 6: The Eye Behind the Mirror
7:55 a.m. – Class 2-B, Vocal and Dance Department
The classroom was quieter than usual. It wasnt that they were being disciplined; it was because their eyes facing a certain person.
It was the kind of atmosphere you got after someone bled here.
Taesung still hadn't shown up since the rooftop incident. Rumors said his pride got hurt worse than his ribs.
No one mentioned it out loud, but everyone's eyes eventually drifted to the back of the room.
Choi Sunjae.
Elbows on the desk, legs sprawled, his hair covering his eyes with bangs, his long bangs fell over his eyes like a curtain—natural, effortless.
No one had seen his eyes since he transferred.
Some thought it was a style. Others started to whisper:
"Have you ever actually seen his eyes?"
"Nope. Not once."
"Bet it's cursed or something."
He currently was chewing a lollipop stick like it owed him money.
No one sat beside him after that incident.
People avoided it now like it was cursed.
But he didn't seem to care.
He never seemed to care.
...
8:10 a.m.
Vin Jin walked in late, as usual. Hoodie up, sunglasses on. Headphones resting around his neck.
He tried not looking at Sunjae; he failed—which caused his jaw to twitch.
He took his seat in the far corner and immediately pulled out his phone. Not to scroll or chat but to take notes.
Because ever since that first lunch, something had been eating at him.
That guy—Choi Sunjae—he wasn't just another punk who could throw hands.
Vin's instincts, honed from years in Cheonliang's sewers, told him something was off.
And Vin Jin didn't ignore instincts.
Vin Jin's Inner Monologue:
'He didn't flinch when Zack showed up.Didn't posture. Didn't flex.He just stared... like he was waiting for a performance to start.
It was as if he was confident that he could easily take him down'
Vin Jin was a proud person. He knew that he could take him down easily if it was him in Cheonliang. But even he had to admit Zack had some skills. Not only that, Sunjae, he... He reminded Vin of that man. This infuriated Vin a lot. He thought only he was the person who could match up to his strength.
He clenched his jaw, fingers tapping slowly on the desk.
...
Mary Kim entered two minutes later.Pulled out her chair. Sat.
She said nothing, like usual.
But today her eyes drifted. Not for long. Just a second too long.
To the back corner of the room.
Sunjae met her eyes. Just once.
No smirk. No expression. Just a glance. Then back to looking out the window.
His earring dangling from his ears.
'He's aware of who's watching him. That's more than most.'
'Maybe Vin is right for once, this person is not as simple as it seems.'
...
10:25 a.m. – Hallway Outside 2-B
Vin Jin leaned against the lockers during break, fiddling with his sunglasses. Mary Kim stood nearby, scrolling on her phone.
"Vin, you actually may be right for once," Mary said to Vin in a condescending tone. "I guess you arent completely useless after all."
Vin didn't answer right away.
Then finally: "He's dangerous, Mary. Its not time to joke around. He might be someone that the shaman knew and he might be here to take revenge."
Mary Kim stiffened at that thought, then said, "If he did know that disgusting man then he has to go."
Vin's jaw twitched again. "One things for sure, he isnt normal."
Mary Kim scoffed. "Its funny seeing you serious for once."
Vin didn't laugh, nor did he reply. He looked like he was thinking about something,, as if remembering good times.
...
Flashback – Two nights ago
Vin Jin, lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling.
"You're the guy from Cheonliang, right?"
That line Choi Sunjae said—so casually. So calculated.
Vin had buried that name years ago.
People didn't talk about Cheonliang unless they were from it.
Or unless they'd done something awful there.
...
Vin Jin (present)
"Either way, he knows what I did before in cheonliang. And he's pretending that he doesnt to care."
'Which means he's either baiting me... or he's just that confident.'
Either way, he hated it.
Rooftop — Lunchtime
Mary Kim sat alone, chopsticks idle in her hand. She watched the clouds drift overhead, but her thoughts were elsewhere.
She replayed everything in her head.
The rooftop fight
The calmness in Sunjae's body language
His complete disregard for attention
How he was able to meet her gaze calmly.
And then something else.
She'd noticed it yesterday.
Sunjae had stepped away from the fight with Zack before it escalated further.
Not because he couldn't finish it—because he chose not to.
And that was the most interesting part. Suddenly her phone buzzed with a notification.
Phone Buzz—From: Vin Jin
Vin:
'I'm gonna press him soon.'
'If he cracks, he's just a showoff.'
''If he doesn't, he's hiding something bigger.'
Mary stared at the message.
Then put her phone away.
She wasn't going to help Vin.
But she wanted to see what would happen.
...
3:45 p.m. – Classroom 2-B
Sunjae rested his cheek against his palm, eyes closed but not asleep.
His system flickered in the background.

They're starting to move.
Good, I wanted to test out the things the system gave me after reaching 35% synchronization anyway.
...
Elsewhere—Abandoned Construction Lot
A fist slammed into a concrete post.
Cracks spiderwebbed through it.
Zack Lee stood shirtless, breathing heavily, knuckles bruised.
His eyes burned with one name in mind.
Choi Sunjae.
