Lookism: Fight Club

Chapter 4: Mechanics

"A fight club?" Choi Sun-Jae was a bit surprised. "What kind of club is that? Do we fight with pillows or fists?"

"Have you heard of the game Mortal Kombat?" Adam Shin asked, then began to explain.

The Fight Club.

The system's purpose was to create an arena for fighters—a battleground reminiscent of the anime Kengan Ashura. Since the system was an entity that transcended common sense, the arena was anything but ordinary. It came with various functions and included extraordinary rewards, almost fantastical.

Thinking about those rewards, Adam Shin couldn't help but salivate. The prizes offered by the system were things that didn't exist on Earth—some straight out of fantasy.

However, the system's original purpose for creating the Fight Club didn't align with Adam's vision. So, instead, he decided to tweak it. He would base the Fight Club on something akin to Mortal Kombat: a tournament with a purpose, a reason for everyone to fight.

But that wasn't all. Adam also incorporated elements of Kengan Ashura, where fighters sponsored by companies and organizations would battle it out on grand stages.

The Fight Club became a gathering place for genius fighters and violent souls, its ultimate purpose being to channel and control all the violence in the world.

Want to fight? Join the Fight Club.

Hate that guy because he stole your wife? Join the Fight Club.

Got bullied? Your mother hates you? Too skinny? Weak? Fat?

Join the Fight Club.

"Hah! Now you're talking!" He clapped his hands together with an audible smack. "Why didn't you tell me this sooner? I would've signed up yesterday!"

He threw an arm around Adam's shoulder, shaking him enthusiastically. "Man, this is the stuff dreams are made of! Can we fight a dragon too? No, wait—an army of ninjas?"

Adam sighed, trying to wriggle free. "Let me finish explaining first."

"Nah, nah, nah, I'm already sold! Just tell me where to punch, and I'm in!" Choi Sun-Jae's voice boomed with childlike glee, bouncing on the balls of his feet like he was already in the ring.

After escaping, he said blandly, "First of all, we're not fighting dragons. They don't even exist in the first place. Anyway, why would you even think that? Ninjas, though... that's possible, I guess."

He shrugged at the last part. In truth, he wasn't sure if dragons existed. But considering the system was real and fictional worlds such as Lookism and Reality Quest also exist, it wasn't entirely out of the question. Maybe dragons were just somewhere else—not in this world.

Ninjas, however, were a different story. They existed. Hopefully, some ninjas would join the club.

After talking for a while, mostly about the Fight Club, Adam Shin led him to the base—an abandoned warehouse where he planned to establish the club.

The two stood at the entrance before stepping inside. The warehouse was spacious, and surprisingly, it was very clean, aside from a few areas where rust had started to creep in. From the looks of it, this place could easily accommodate hundreds of people.

There was also a second floor with rooms and a railing that overlooked the ground floor, making it a perfect vantage point. It was clear this warehouse had plenty of potential for what Adam envisioned.

In total, the abandoned warehouse was an ideal starting point for the club.

As they continued exploring, the system suddenly chimed.

Easy Mission: Building a successful Fight Club requires three key elements: a strong leader, a capable team, and a solid foundation. Without these, it's just another ordinary club. Stay focused and follow the objectives below to achieve greatness:

1. Objective: Deal with the thugs harassing the old lady.

2. Objective: Recruit one or more skilled individuals to join your team.

3. Objective: Secure a suitable location to establish your Fight Club.

Congratulations! You've completed the mission!

Distributing rewards...

---

"Nice..." he mumbled.

"Oh? What is it?"

Adam ignored him and focused on the reward.

---

All-Seeing Glass

- Wearing these glasses allows you to see a person's attributes and potential. The level of detail depends on the user's strength—you cannot see the attributes or potential of someone two levels stronger than you.

---

The reward didn't appear out of thin air, which made Adam sigh in relief. He wasn't sure how he'd explain it if something suddenly materialized in his hands. Fortunately, the system was very convenient, and he felt the glasses appear in his pocket.

He retrieved them. The glasses were sleek, black, and designed to perfectly complement his handsome face. As he put them on, he immediately turned to look at the young man beside him.

---

Choi Sun-Jae

Male: 17

Stats:

Strength: A

Dexterity: A

Constitution: B

Intelligence: B

Potential: EX

---

Adam ignored the waving and funny faces Choi Sun-Jae made, focusing instead on his stats.

Both his Strength and Dexterity were ranked A, while the rest were B. He was much stronger than Adam overall. However, when it came to potential, Adam surpassed him significantly. To be honest, Adam had expected at least one S rank in his stats, considering Choi Sun-Jae was one of the strongest characters. But on second thought, it made sense—he was still young, so his stats would naturally have room to grow.

Adam didn't linger on the analysis for long. Shifting his attention to a more pressing issue, he found a seat and sat down. Choi Sun-Jae followed, his gaze wandering around the surroundings.

"We have a problem..." Adam said solemnly, resting his chin on his palms.

"What is it?" Choi Sun-Jae asked, tilting his head.

"We don't have any money." Adam glanced at him knowingly.

The atmosphere fell silent for a moment before Choi Sun-Jae burst into laughter and abruptly stood up. "Ahaha! I just remembered—I have something to take care of!"

"Hey, wait! Why are you running away? Don't run away from your responsibilities!" Adam shouted, pointing at him. "As a member of the Fight Club, go earn some money while I, the boss, wait here for you."

"Wait, wait! Why am I the one earning money now? You should come with me!" Choi Sun-Jae protested, frowning.

"Because you're strong. Now go!" Adam shooed him away with a dismissive wave. After grumbling for a while, Choi Sun-Jae reluctantly left.

With the place now empty and quiet, Adam Shin decided to check the system to see if anything had changed.

---

There was no change to his status, but a new function had appeared in the system:

---

Reward System: Grants rewards to fighters who win matches or reach certain ranks. It is only available for fighters.

Betting System: Allows betting on fighters. Winning bets yield rewards equal in value to the amount wagered. Only available to users.

---

The Reward System was designed to incentivize fighters by providing rewards for victories or achievements. Adam realized he could leverage this system in multiple ways. The best part? The rewards didn't come from him—they were supplied by the system, meaning he wouldn't spend a dime.

However, there was a catch: the Reward System was only activated during tournaments or similar events. For simple matches between two fighters, Adam would need to provide the rewards himself—or not at all.

The Reward System had three main mechanics:

1. Winner Rewards: Fighters who win a match receive predetermined rewards based on the match type and tier.

2. Ranked Rewards: Fighters who achieve or maintain specific ranks on the leaderboard earn tier-based rewards.

3. Special Achievements: Additional rewards are granted for unique accomplishments, such as win streaks or defeating higher-ranked opponents.

For example, if the Fight Club only hosted student-level fighters, rewards might include money, basic technology, or other simple items. But for city-level fighters, the rewards would escalate significantly. To keep things straightforward, Adam divided the tiers into:

- Street Level

- Regional Level

- Country Level

- Continental Level

- Global Level

The Betting System, on the other hand, was straightforward. Adam could bet on fighters, and if they won, he would earn a reward equal to or similar in value to his wager. Essentially, he was betting against the system itself.

The Reward System was a core feature of the Fight Club, designed to attract fighters by offering enticing rewards. This ensured they would willingly join and compete.

Aside from these functions, the system didn't offer much else. Everything else—ideas, strategies, and execution—was Adam's responsibility. The system merely provided support and guidance. This was where Fight Club Points (FCP) came into play.

Fight Club Points (FCP) could be earned in several ways, such as completing missions, recruiting new fighters, using the betting system, or assigning representatives. If a representative fighter won a match, Adam would earn FCP, with the amount depending on the opponent's tier and the significance of the game.

With these tools and mechanics, the foundation of the Fight Club was finally coming together.
