Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills

Chapter 280: END OF VOLUME 5

The battle between the archmage and the cultist drew closer to its end, as usual, the bright side had the upper hand.

"Where is your will now?"

D'andre laughed, bringing his hands together, ready to land the final, crushing smash and end the battle once and for all.

He was drawing closer to his weakened foe.

There was nothing that could stop him from killing Alister at this point, or so he thought.

Before he could connect his attack, all of a sudden, the clouds began to grumble, letting out a deep RUMBLE that shook the heavens.

In a split second, the gentle evening vanished and was quickly replaced with utter darkness. Not a single light permeated the earth as the darkness cloaked all its existence.

An ominous atmosphere descended upon the entire area.

Rowan and the others hiding behind the huge tree felt fear like never before. Some fell on the ground and hid their faces as though they were scared of staring at the darkness.

Riela found Rowan and hugged him really tight, afraid to let go.

Even the spy knights who had received special training were beyond afraid at this moment.

'What kind of power is this?'

Rowan wondered.

The power was even beyond what they felt when the cult of ember justice first arrived at the scene.

"What the fuck."

D'andre was baffled by the sudden changes happening. He did not need to confirmation of another person to tell him that whatever was happening, was not ordinary.

"I can't even see, what sort of darkness is this?"

D'andre said to himself.

He called out a ball of light to serve as an illumination in this darkness.

PHEW!

A strong wind blew and the ball of light disappeared like he never activated the spell in the first place.

He tried once again and he got the same result.

At this point, he let go of all his plans to slay the cultist and instead focused on finding the source of the changes happening around.

"The time those bastards appeared out of their portals, there was only partial darkness covering a small distance. But this one is total darkness and the whole world seems to be covered in it."

D'andre tried to understand his current situation.

He was on high alert, he was silent, listening to the flow of wind, noticing every minor change that happened.

His mind was split between different schools of thought as he tried to arrive at a conclusion but there was none.

KRA-BOOM!

Lightning flashed across the sky and thunder blasted across the place, increasing the ominous atmosphere.

"Something extremely powerful is approaching."

D'andre felt a great shift in the balance of the atmosphere as a stronger presence suddenly appeared.

The presence brought about a stronger ominous atmosphere that even D'andre could not help but shiver at the feeling. Terror washed over his being.

"Inventory."

D'andre knew he could not remain in this place for the next few seconds. He might meet his end and he would not even get the privilege to know who his killer was.

He had to prevent this.

He summoned a teleportation magic slip from his inventory and tore it, then he disappeared from the scene.

Of course, no one saw him disappear as the entire place was devoid of light, or so he thought.

"CHUCKLE."

A sinister chuckle came from the exact spot D'andre had just disappeared from.

It was low with an unusual masculine tone.

The owner of the voice could not be seen thanks to the darkness he had created to blind everyone from seeing him.

Of course, only himself, the creator of the darkness was able to see clearly.

The dark figure gently descended to the earths surface.

He landed at the spot where Alister could be seen laying unconscious. His robe was torn, blood escaped from his facial orifices and his body was laced with plenty of wounds.

The dark figure grabbed Alister, placed him on his shoulder and strolled towards the mashed up corpse of Xandros which was almost unrecognizable, physically.

Being a powerful being, he could tell the identity of the corpse from its mana.

"You two have really done a lot."

The voice whispered and grabbed the body of Xandros and placed him on his other shoulder.

He stood and gazed at the other corpses, consisting of cultists and dead captives, and a handful of spy knights.

"Garbage."

He spat out with disgust.

He observed the surrounding for a few more seconds.

His gaze lingered longer on the cave that had been destroyed.

The dark figure hissed and began levitating gently into the sky.

While levitating, his eyes observed the location where the survivors could be seen cowering in fear at his presence. Some even attempted to dig the earth and bury themselves.

He simply chuckled at their cowardice, he felt no interest in killing them.

Then his eyes fell on one person.

At first glance, this person did not stand out amongst the others — He was dressed the same and his magic cultivation was even the lowest.

But something caught the interest of the dark figure.

This person was looking at him, following his gaze as he levitated into the sky.

"Hmm."

The dark figure hummed, a little bit confused.

"He can see me?"

Could he?

That should be impossible.

His darkness is supreme, it blinded everyone, even archmages like D'andre were blinded at the presence of his darkness.

The dark figure gaze lingered on the black hair survivor for a few seconds, testing out something.

The weak mage soon removed his gaze from his levitating figure and began to look around fearfully. He moved his head from left to right with a panicked expression visible on his face.

"Thought as much."

The dark figure was convinced the actions of the black haired weakling was nothing but a mere coincidence.

"My darkness could never be beat."

He scoffed and then in a split second, his figure disappeared alongside the blinding darkness and the ominous atmosphere.

"The darkness has ended."

"Ahh, what was thought? I thought I was in hell!"

The survivors began to stand up one after the other, relieved that the hellish experience was over.

"What happened between the archmage and the cultist?"

They wondered aloud.

No one knew what happened.

The archmage was about to take the life of the last cultist when the hellish darkness descended upon the place.

While everyone was wondering what happened, Rowan was reliving the scary moments he had experienced a few seconds ago.

A appearance of the dark figure kept reappearing in his mind, a strong sense of terror made him shiver uncontrollably.

The face of the dark figure was hidden behind a scary black mask, his entire being was wrapped in a powerful dark aura, far stronger than that of the dark brothers combined.

[Eclipse vision] made it possible for Rowan to witness everything without a single obstruction.

He saw when D'andre teleported, when the scary dark figure appeared, when he took the corpse of the dark blood brothers and when the gaze of that fellow met his.

The moment their gaze jammed, Rowan was dumbstruck for a long time.

He realized that his death was pending if the dark figure realized he could see through the dark. When he realized this, he immediately began acting normal as though he was really blind.

This simple act was able to save not just his life but the life of the other survivors.

However, the scary image of that powerful figure lingered in his mind.
