Chapter 4
Bai Yu arrived at the castle entrance, wanting to see how her skeleton soldiers were doing in battle while also seeing what the outside really looked like. Needless to say, she was somewhat curious.
With there being absolutely nothing inside the castle, it was clear that all the resources needed to be acquired outside.
Bai Yu knew that she herself was just level 1 right now. The skeleton soldiers could revive when killed, but she couldn’t. So, even though she left the castle, she still remained inside the protection area.
Beyond the castle, it was all just grass and rubble, with some lone withered trees occasionally scattered about. There was no water source, but in the far distance amidst the fog appeared a tall and majestic snowy mountain.
She had originally thought that water would be a problem but it turned out the castle had fresh water inside, so now survival just depended on finding food.
This bit was still pretty humane. Everyone came to fight for world domination, not to survive in the wilderness.
As for why Bai Yu determined that the tall mountain in the distance was a snowy mountain, the reason was because it was white. From a visual estimation, it was many kilometers away from her castle.
The mountain will definitely have high level monsters and rare materials!
Bai Yu inwardly thought.
At this time, she also found that the skeleton soldiers were currently fighting a group of wild boars not far away.
The wild boar charged at the skeleton soldiers. She originally thought it would be an equal fight, but little did she expect, as soon as they clashed, the skeleton soldiers got pulverized into a pile of broken bones.
“Ah?” Bai Yu was dumbfounded, “That’s way too weak, right?”
But thankfully, before the skeletons fell apart, the bone knife they were holding had successfully stabbed into the back of the wild boars.
The wild boars instantly started hemorrhaging blood, they swayed unevenly as it started charging randomly. Before long, because of the heavy blood loss, the wild boars dropped dead.
[Congratulations to the lord for successfully killing a Common Level 1 Wild Boar, Gained 5 Experience Points!]
[...]
Bai Yu was a bit dazed as a series of notifications appeared.
“They were only level 1, yet my skeleton soldiers were already struggling in a fight…”
If it weren’t for those wild boars having really high aggro, as well as the skeletons being unkillable, then she really might not have been able to defeat them.
“So trash…” Bai Yu’s cute face was in disbelief.
She ended up with 30 experience points, all of which was turned into energy and absorbed into her body.
Bai Yu just felt a stream of warmth surge from her abdomen, then it spread very quickly to Bai Yu’s four limbs, followed by a wave of pure pleasure.
She leveled up!
She hit level 2. Bai Yu felt she had gotten stronger in every way.
Also, the level up feel was so good!
At the same time, the skeleton soldiers who killed the wild boars had also leveled up to level 2.
So that was the experience from kills, leveling while doing nothing like this felt pretty nice.
Soon, the group of skeletons dragged the wild boar corpses back. As Bai Yu looked at the black skinned wild boar before her, a system prompt also appeared.
[Wild Boar corpse found, dismantle immediately?]
“Dismantle!”
[Successfully dismantled wild boar corpse, received 120 wild boar meat, 12 wild boar tusks, 6 wild boar pelt, 2 magic crystals.]
The wild boar corpse in front of Bai Yu instantly disappeared, and her storage now had all kinds of materials after dismantling.
“A nice little haul, you guys go continue killing, bring all the corpses back!” She commanded those skeleton soldiers.
6 wild boars only dropped two magic crystals. It seemed like the other material drops were set, and only the magic crystal was random.
As Bai Yu calculated, she suddenly remembered, “Eh? Wait, I seem to have an ability that can summon undead, right?”
She reached out to touch the bracelet on her right wrist and the bracelet instantly morphed into a large scythe.
[Summon Undead Magic (Rank 1): Costs 3 mana to summon a skeleton soldier from the target (5 Minute Cooldown)]
Bai Yu had 20 mana, which meant she could summon 6 times. This way, in half an hour, she could have an extra 6 skeleton soldiers.
Shortly after, notifications of the skeleton soldiers’ kills appeared again.
[Congratulations to the lord for successfully killing…]
[...]
She immediately commanded one of the skeletons to bring a corpse back, itching to give the undead magic a try.
Looking at the corpse before her, Bai Yu swiftly raised her scythe and cast the ability.
Mana 17/20.
In just one minute, her mana had recovered by one point. After using magic for the first time, Bai Yu now knew the mana recovery speed.
A grey magic circle appeared under the wild rabbit corpse and a skeleton soldier slowly crawled out from it.
“Whoa, it actually summoned a humanoid skeleton, and the corpse didn’t disappear!”
Bai Yu looked at the dumb looking skeleton before her.
[Skeleton Soldier]
[...]
[Level: Normal Level 1 (Cannot be improved)]
[...]
It was basically identical to the one summoned from the barracks, the only difference was that its level could not be improved.
“What does this mean?” She was a bit curious, “The level is locked…”
In other words, the skeleton soldiers summoned by her couldn’t level up from kills?
Based on Bai Yu’s many years of online gaming experience, she guessed that the summoned undead’s level had to be related to the level of the corpse.
“The wild rabbit corpse is still here, then can’t I just keep summoning?”
Bai Yu then waited five minutes and once again excitedly used summon on the rabbit corpse.
[Summoning failed]
Mana 17/20.
“I knew it, how could there be such a good thing. Wasted me three mana.”
After waiting for the cooldown to pass, Bai Yu immediately used undead summon on the nearby level 2 corpse. As expected, the skeleton soldier summoned this time was level 2, its level was also locked.
“Dismantle, dismantle!”
Bai Yu dismantled these spoils of war.
[Successfully dismantled wild rabbit corpse, received 10 wild rabbit meat, 1 wild rabbit pelt.]
[Successfully dismantled wild chicken corpse, received 5 wild chicken meat, 1 magic crystal.]
“Hmm, it seems the chance for magic crystals is higher with a higher level?”
“You guys can also go kill, remember to bring the corpses back!”
Bai Yu commanded the skeletons before her.
She squatted down, tilting her head as she hugged her knees, reached her hand out, and started calculating on the ground, “My mana is only 20, recovering it takes 20 minutes. The ability cooldown is 5 minutes, the ability costs 3 mana…”
“Uh, how much was it again?”
Bai Yu scribbled on the ground, it felt like her brain became a bit dumb after becoming a girl.
“6 in 30 minutes, so that’s 12 in an hour. If for 8 hours a day, its, 96! Then adding the 10 every day from the undead crystal, isn’t that over 100 skeleton soldiers a day, or 700 in seven days!”
“I can just directly use human wave tactics!”
Bai Yu stood tall and proud, raised her little fist, and was instantly full of confidence.
“Chickens are slightly easier to kill, rabbits are okay too. Her skeleton soldiers are still too low level right now, so killing wild boars isn’t efficient.”
She turned back into the castle and headed to the storage warehouse, looking at the neatly stacked food piled in the corner.
Whatever the condition the food was before entering the storage was also its condition after being taken out. That part was pretty nice, at least the food would never spoil.
Bai Yu wanted her skeleton soldiers to level up by fighting. That way, both the soldiers and she could level up, she could also summon more soldiers. When the numbers increased, wouldn’t the wood and stone thing be easy?
“Hmph hmph, this lady… cough cough, this grandpa really is a genius!”
