Chapter 101: Potion Formula
The mystical items in Hobert's hand made Thomas reassess Christian's strength (he naturally believed that the "low-sequence" Beyonder Hobert couldn't have obtained such a powerful mystical items by his own means).
In the Nighthawks' files, Christian was a Brigadier General who had offended the king and therefore wasn't trusted. But now it seemed that the matter wasn't as simple as it appeared.
"Captain?" a teammate reminded, "We should retreat."
Thomas snapped out of his thoughts. "Right. Oh, by the way, send a greeting to General Christian over there."
"Yes." A teammate picked up the oil lamp and waved it in front of the window.
On a nearby tall building, a small green flame, resembling a ghost fire, soon flickered. The green flame swayed back and forth, responding to Thomas.
...
On the rooftop of a nearby tall building, Dorphis put away the ghost fire.
Christian, dressed in knight attire, said, "I'll head back first, give Hobert some space. Go help Hobert clean up the bodies in about ten minutes."
"Got it," Dorphis replied. "General, aren't you worried that giving such a powerful mystical items to the young master might affect your plans?"
"That wasn't from me," Christian said. "The sealed artifact in his hand is something shared with the Nighthawks. The mystical items that grows into a tree must have been provided by them as well."
...
Hobert moved the bodies of the Baron of Corruption, the Judge, and the Astrologer into a spacious bedroom. He drew the symbol of the Creator, built a Wall of Spirituality, lit candles, and offered a sacrifice to himself while praying for communion.
After the earlier battle, Hobert's spiritual energy was almost depleted. If he directly used the Spirit Necklace, he could only perform one spirit channeling.
However, by leveraging the spirituality of the Nation of Disorder and the power of the Spirit Necklace, he could easily complete three spirit channelings.
After completing the prayer, he entered the Nation of Disorder. The moment he entered, his astral body was struck by intense pain.
Hobert collapsed onto the Iron Throne, discovering that there were maggot-like creatures burrowing through his astral body. They seemed terrified, desperately trying to escape from his astral body.
Once they emerged, they turned into black mist and vanished without a trace.
After all the black mist disappeared, Hobert's astral body regained its purity. He then belatedly realized that the Nation of Disorder had purged the damage caused by the sealed artifact.
After all, that sealed artifact was the product of a runaway Imperative Mage. Damage from such sealed items was nothing for the Nation of Disorder.
Feeling much lighter, Hobert first took the offerings from the altar and placed them into the Nation of Disorder.
There was nothing special about the Spirit Necklace, but the black gloves seemed to have become more "obedient." Such is the crushing power of rank!
Hobert had a hunch that he could use the power of the Nation of Disorder to enhance the black gloves' power and suppress its negative effects to some extent, given that it was a sealed artifact of the Arbiter pathway.
But considering the transaction that might take place tomorrow, he decided to wait until after tomorrow to deal with it.
The Beyonder characteristic of the Baron of Corruption looked like a decayed black jade, surrounded by a layer of black mist, giving off a mystical and unreal feeling.
The Beyonder characteristic of the Sheriff appeared more ordinary. It was about the size of a child's fist, composed of three colors: iron black, dark red, and large swathes of silver-white.
With a wave of his hand, Hobert "constructed" a small stone platform beside the Iron Throne and placed the spoils of the day on it. There was no place safer than the Nation of Disorder.
...
Next, Hobert began responding to his prayer. Holding the Spirit Necklace,"he channeled the spirituality of the Nation of Disorder, gaining the ability and power to communicate with the dead.
He infused this power into his stars, and immediately saw the dissipating spirit bodies of the Judge, the Baron of Corruption, and the Astrologer.
Time was of the essence. There was no need to leave the Nation of Disorder; he could perform the spirit channeling directly using his stars.
Hobert first targeted the Baron of Corruption for communion: "Potion formulas for Sequence 7 and Sequence 6!"
There was no need to recite it seven times. Just one recitation caused the star representing Hobert to leap from the pond, forming a screen like a movie projector in front of the Iron Throne.
At first, the screen displayed gray mist for one or two seconds, then an image appeared. A middle-aged man resembling the Baron of Corruption smiled warmly and said, "This is the potion formula for Sequence 7. Drink it, and you will undergo a transformation, becoming a true Beyonder."
Taking the parchment, the view shifted down to reveal the content: Briber.
Main ingredients: one Crying Baby flower, a crystal of the Grimace Hemp.
Auxiliary ingredients: 5 drops of golden mandrake juice, 5 drops of black mandrake juice, 4 drops of hallucinogenic herb essential oil, 80 milliliters of red wine.
Then the scene shifted again, showing the same middle-aged man, now looking slightly more worn. "This is the potion formula for Sequence 6. I'll provide one main ingredient, but you'll need to gather the rest yourself. Think of it as a trial and test for you.
"Once you've gathered all the ingredients, you will earn the family title."
Unfolding the parchment, the content read: Baron of Corruption.
Main ingredients: one mutated heart of a black-glow beast, a crystal from the Chianthari Elf Tree.
Auxiliary ingredients: 80 milliliters of blood from a dark-blooded behemoth, 20 milliliters of sap from the Chianthari Elf Tree, 8 grams of dragon's tooth grass powder, 100 milliliters of aged white wine.
After the two potion formulas were revealed, the screen returned to show the spirit of the Baron of Corruption, his eyes now vacant.
With the Beyonder characteristic of the Baron of Corruption already in hand and the Beyonder characteristic of the Briber relatively easy to obtain, Hobert focused mainly on the auxiliary ingredients of these two potion formulas.
As for consuming Beyonder characteristics rather than Beyonder materials, Hobert didn't seem to have any psychological reservations.
The only concern was that both the Briber and the Baron of Corruption contained characteristics of the Barbarian and Lawyer.
Would consuming too many Beyonder characteristics of the same Sequence complicate his acting method? Or put undue stress on his spirituality?
But that wasn't a problem for now. He then asked the Baron of Corruption's spirit, "How should the 'Barbarian' act?"
