Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Overwhelming Victory

Chapter 98: Overwhelming Victory

The retreat of the three mid-Sequence enemies was stopped by Hobert using 2-355.

The Judge and the Baron of Corruption weren't fools, shouting out their Beyonder abilities: "Corrosion" and "Imprisonment" aimed at Hobert.

Hobert, utilizing his position as the holder of the "Tree of Order," twisted the target of their abilities onto the "Tree of Order."

For the "Tree of Order," their attacks were essentially nourishment.

Under the protection of the "Tree of Order" and 2-355, it was difficult for Hobert to be harmed.

However, that's all it was—he didn't have enough means to harm the two Sequence 6 enemies. Trying to pull either one closer was asking for death.

The "Barbarian" lacked sufficient Beyonder abilities for attack, while the Judge and Baron of Corruption were not short of such methods.

Hobert didn't dare to be careless. He moved behind Utravsky and Daly to provide support.

Seeing no hope of victory and no chance to escape, the Baron of Corruption shouted, "Prepare!"

The Judge and the Astrologer immediately moved behind the "Tree of Order."

Hobert quickly realized something was wrong and shifted the "Baron of Corruption" to stand in front of the "Judge," who once again dodged.

At that moment, the "Baron of Corruption" had already put on a black glove, and suddenly, his form became towering and imposing. His eyes seemed to burn with black flames.

He appeared to be in extreme pain, his deep, solemn eyes glancing coldly at Hobert and the others.

Immediately, Hobert and his companions froze in place, feeling as if their spirituality had suffered varying degrees of damage.

Two of the undead summoned by Daly turned into a pile of bones and a lone hood, before swiftly vanishing back to the Underworld.

Even Xio and Fors, who were far away, felt a sense of weakness.

Fortunately, the attack didn't last long. After one strike, the Baron of Corruption returned to normal, pale and leaning heavily against a wall, gasping for breath, clearly unable to continue fighting for a while.

No wonder the enemy had hesitated to use the sealed artifact. The negative effects must have been severe.

Nevertheless, that single blow had been enough to completely disrupt the battle.

The Judge immediately launched an offensive: "Death!"

He leaned forward and swung a punch, rendering Hobert immobile, as if awaiting judgment or execution, standing frozen while the Judge's fist homed in on him.

At that moment, Hobert realized he had lost control of both 2-355 and the "Tree of Order"!

Utravsky, trying to gather his strength to form a greatsword to block the blow, found himself struggling, a testament to the power of the sealed artifact's earlier strike.

Just as the fist was about to strike Hobert, a skeleton in tattered clothing suddenly appeared in front of him. The "Judge's" punch shattered the skeleton's skull, sending it back to the spirit world.

It was Daly. She had summoned an undead from the spirit world to block the fatal blow for Hobert.

But after doing this, she also collapsed to one knee, clearly unable to launch another attack for the time being.

Seeing his strike fail, the Judge kicked Hobert in the abdomen.

Hobert was sent flying, crashing into the wall, and 2-355 slipped from his grasp.

The Judge quickly rushed forward, intending to grab 2-355. At that moment, Utravsky's greatsword finally materialized, though much dimmer than before.

There was no time to dwell on it. Utravsky, wielding the sword, slashed at the Judge.

The Judge was forced to dodge Utravsky's attack and used "Exile" to hold him off.

If this had been the beginning of the fight, Utravsky would have easily broken through the "Exile," but not now—it held him back completely.

However, Utravsky's attack gave Hobert an opportunity. Despite the pain wracking his body, he crawled over to retrieve 2-355 and buried the Judge underground.

With 2-355, Hobert could manipulate about three meters of the area around them, easily trapping the opponent underground.

In Backlund, only the major roads and main streets had hardened surfaces. Most ordinary streets were made of packed coal cinders or gravel, so even in the rain, they wouldn't become muddy.

Such streets wouldn't kill a Sequence 6, but they could certainly trap one.

This granted Hobert, Utravsky, and Daly a brief moment to catch their breath.

Suddenly, the ground erupted like a fountain, soil churning as the buried Judge used "Exile" to push the earth above him away.

Hobert quickly struggled to his feet and teleported the enemy Astrologer in front of Upton's summoned spirit.

Earlier, while the Judge was wreaking havoc, the enemy Astrologer had been simultaneously protecting their Baron of Corruption while attacking Upton.

She had been casting "Trip" and "Burn" repeatedly at Upton, leaving him bruised and battered, his clothes torn, and his hair singed.

If not for Hobert's intervention, Upton would have met a fate worse than the two Sequence 8s who had died earlier.

The spirit Upton summoned had also been weakened by the sealed artifact's earlier attack, but it still retained some strength. When the Astrologer appeared in front of it, it reached out and gripped her by the throat.

The Astrologer lacked any powerful Beyonder abilities. Her usual attacks like "Flash," "Burn," and "Freeze" were ineffective against the spirit.

Meanwhile, the Baron of Corruption still leaned against the wall, barely able to lift his arm, clearly not yet recovered.

Seizing the moment, Hobert buried the Baron of Corruption underground as well. With no means to resist, he could only await suffocation.

Just as Hobert finished these actions, the Judge jumped out from the ground. Hobert immediately moved him to the edge of the battlefield, preparing to let the Judge leave and deal with the remaining Beyonders.

Even though Utravsky and Daly's spirituality had begun to recover, they still weren't a match for the Judge.

Moreover, the Judge would surely avoid prolonging the fight, as Hobert still held 2-355, preventing the Judge from killing any of them.

With time passing, Daly and Utravsky would recover most of their spirituality within minutes, and by then, the Judge wouldn't be able to escape.

The Judge hesitated momentarily, then rushed toward the Astrologer, clearly hoping to rescue her while Daly and the others were still weak.

At that moment, Utravsky pulled out a syringe-like object containing a vial of fresh blood. He injected the blood into himself.

Hobert looked at the Judge, his gaze cold, as though he were staring at a dead man.
