Lord Of The Rings - the awakening of the warrior

Chapter 16: Chapter 16

A gentle breeze was what we felt when we were near the cave, but that had changed drastically the closer we got to the mountain range, becoming a strong wind, one that began to carry with it various problems.

I closed my eyes inevitably as a gust of wind sent a chill across my face, carefully protecting the map in front of me from being damaged or blown off into the distance.

Once the gust subsided, I let out a snort of annoyance and drank carefully from the water bottle as I went back to studying the map.

Looking down, I saw the branches of the trees bend as the wind pushed through them. unstable under the assault of the air. The wind grew stronger and finally answered the question of why so little vegetation the closer we got. Not all plants had the endurance to withstand such arid and aggressive climates with life itself.

But once we continued on our way to the valley, the wind seemed to diminish and gave way to a better view of the landscape, and we spent minutes in silence just observing the beauty of the forest and the valley of Mordor, where you could easily see Mount Doom from here.

"...If there is anything worth fighting for in this life, it is to keep seeing and living these moments," Grandma said in a quiet voice.

"Were you an adventurer as a young lady Rita?" asked Dalos with a surprised face.

Grandma let out a dry chuckle and squinted slightly due to the occasional blizzard "Bah, you sure didn't expect that. When I was young I was very adventurous and observed a lot of scenery, I stopped doing that when I found a cause to give my life for."

"What cause was enough to put aside your passion?" I didn't want to be rash, but I couldn't help but ask the question.

"First let's prepare the food, this is a good place to have breakfast and rest" Grandma said,

Following her orders I unloaded the backpacks and sat down on a rocky area in front of where Grandma was resting. we took out the bag of food and water. Once everything was ready, Grandma began to talk.

We had been eating rabbit, rabbit stew, rabbit stew, and various other things with a few other additions for days, even Alaia, a meat fanatic, seemed to look at the meat with some disdain.

"It's not as impressive a story as you think, I wasn't someone very famous. I grew up in the lands of Númenor, an island to the west, I was born in Hyarrostar a prestigious and broad promontory land that stretched south and east of Númenor, a beautiful warm land. Along its southern shores, it stretched wide beaches of beautiful white sands, and on its western borders, where the shores were interrupted by the mouth of the Siril River. It is Famous for its trees and home to large plantations that provided much of the timber used by the carpenters of Númenor" Her voice denoted a feeling of warmth, and of many memories.

"Growing up in those lands the feelings of wanting to explore and see more is irresistible, I didn't want my adventures to stop at just one island, I wanted to know more of them from the lands of Belfalas to Forlindon."

"Forlindon? I've never heard of those lands." Dalos said looking up at grandma, excited to hear about her past. though I was no different, Grandma had never spoken of him.

"They are west of here, the most beautiful and saddest lands you can see." said Grandma, looking west, with what seemed like adoration and respect.

Grandma announced once she finished packing everything back up, readjusting the hem of her robe as another gust of wind crashed into our faces "We're done talking boys, let's move on".

It took me a few minutes to digest the information before I continued.

I hadn't heard why Grandma had decided to stop her adventurous days, but her mischievous smile seemed to indicate that this was her intention all along.

Eregion, the realm of the Noldor elves:

On a marble terrace with sweeping views, at its center was a huge golden-leafed tree, covering the ground. An elf and her husband had gathered, waiting for someone to arrive to start the meeting they had planned.

"Sorry for the delay" an elf came running towards the table, her long hair reached her waist in a white color accompanied by white robes that gave her a dazzling appearance.

"calm my child" Caleborn was the first to respond.

"this wouldn't happen if you didn't live so far away from your parents" Galadriel spoke with a tone full of reproach.

"Galadriel we talked about this, we agreed not to burden her with this anymore" his hands rested on Galadriel's shoulder in an attempt to calm her down.

"I never agreed with the decision"

"Mother I will not follow you as if I still had hundreds, I don't want to go on chases about impending dangers" Celebrian spoke as she took a seat at the table.

For Celebrian her parents had been quite sure that there was great danger in the world, threatening her stability, but they had been unwilling to give her any assurances. However, since she was a child she had always been compelled to continue her routes of exploration and research and although as a child they could be a fun experience, over time her parents' continued paranoia bothered her.

"We have seen the clues, you have seen them yourself" Galadriel told her, in a stern tone.

"The world does not agree with you" For Celebrían and Galadriel it had always been a topic of debate and quarrels, both with strong pride and character, it only resulted in the same endless fights, aware of this Celeborn, intervened little to avoid being affected.

"Your father shares the same opinion about danger."

"Father is just submissive to your strong character."

"could they stop arguing I am not a submissive to your mother, Celebrian" The subject had suddenly passed before his temper something he was not pleased that his daughter and wife shared.

""You are"" they both replied immediately.

"I'm glad you at least share something in common, even if it is something cruel."

Laughter echoed through the garden, anyone would be impressed by the sight, not only because of the beauty of the family, but also the family atmosphere in which they were involved, two of the great leaders of the elven race and greatest representatives of it.

"then what am I here for, I don't think it's for a family reunion".

"news has come from the east, the orcs are starting a new campaign, a new leader has appeared where apparently it is reported that they already subjugated goblin tribes for their side, after that, the elven posts have stopped reporting two weeks ago."

"Seems troubling."

"It is, your father and I will leave to find out more but we need someone to stay here to continue trade with the dwarves."

Celebrian seemed confused by her parents' sudden decision: "They are not being hasty. For an orc leader to believe he may be the new leader of the area is commonplace. Before long, they will commit suicide and return to their caves. They think he is Sauron." She was appalled by her parents' obsession with an imaginary enemy.

"...It is not yet certain, but there are also rumors of the construction of a gate in the pass of Ephel Dúath" Her mother was the one who decided to explain the situation.

"You shouldn't worry about that, it's a matter between your father and me, once we check the situation we'll be back, it won't take long."

"The king will not be happy. I have already declared the search ceased," Celebrian began, deciding to use anything that might make her parents doubt her.

"You are right, but the king has decided to build a mithril forge, so he will need our connections with the dwarves in order to do so" Being the elven couple with the most influence thanks to the continuous trade with the dwarves of the Khazad-dûm mine, both could afford certain luxuries before the nobility of the kingdom, and The Lady of the Lake was knowledgeable in using their advantages.

"I have never met them and they are too stubborn to accept a simple recommendation." Celebrian replied, still annoyed by her parents' decisions.

"Relax. We left clear instructions. You'll just have to follow a few," Celeborn said as he rested his hand on his daughter's shoulder.

"When will they be back?" for her, it wasn't a bother to wait years but the worry for her parents remained.

"We don't know, hopefully, it could be in a few months if it turns out to be nothing, but if our worries are true it could be years."
