Chapter 323: Where Is the Thrill?
Eva turned to look at him for a moment before focusing her attention back on the front. She knew that if she didn't give her best now, then it would be too late later. So, without wasting another second, she swam as hard as she could to catch up to the others.
And soon enough, she managed to close the distance, reaching Zoe and Madison. However, at this point, Nathan had already passed the other two girls and joined Jack and James at the front of the group.
Meanwhile, Layla continued to swim further away from everyone else, showing off her amazing swimming abilities and proving that she was not just a pretty face but also very talented in other fields.
She kept swimming like this until she reached the buoy and turned around to head back to shore.
But she didn't expect to see Lucifer swimming casually at the back of the group, and when she noticed him, she shouted angrily, "Hey, Lucifer! Why are you slacking off?! Get your lazy ass moving! Or are you not interested in winning this?"
Upon hearing those words, the other participants turned their heads towards where Lucifer was swimming. When they saw him, they were all surprised, but no one said anything as they continued swimming towards the buoy.
Lucifer looked at Layla and smirked. He didn't bother responding and just waved at her before speeding up. In a matter of seconds, he was already past the girls and was quickly approaching Nathan.
Seeing Lucifer's incredible speed, Layla clicked her tongue and started to swim back with renewed energy. 'Shit, I forgot about his newfound powers! Damn it! I will lose if I don't hurry!'
Meanwhile, James was still at the front, with Jack right beside him, and they were neck-and-neck with each other as they reached the buoy. They were about to touch it to turn around when they noticed Lucifer quickly approaching them, causing them to widen their eyes in surprise. They didn't expect him to catch up to them so fast.
But the most shocking part came next, when Lucifer reached their position in a blink of an eye and swam past them before touching the buoy and changing directions in one fluid motion. The two men stared at him with wide-open mouths as he swam away with ease.
After witnessing Lucifer's incredible feat, they snapped out of their daze and tried to follow after him as fast as possible, but by then, he had already left them behind, leaving them in the dust.
This made Jack furious, and he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Dammit! Again! AGAIN! Why is this bastard always showing off like that?! It pisses me off!"
And with those words, he sped up and started swimming even faster, desperate to catch up to Lucifer. James was also trying his best, but he wasn't able to keep up with Jack, who seemed possessed by an overwhelming urge to beat Lucifer.
Soon, the others reached the buoy as well. First, Nathan touched the buoy and turned back to shore. Then Madison, Zoe, and Eva arrived almost simultaneously and also changed directions. But unlike the others who were competing to win, these three young women had decided to stick together so that no one would be left alone and they would finish together.
Layla, who was far ahead of them all, could see the beach getting closer by the minute, but she also saw Lucifer quickly approaching her from behind.
'Damn, this guy really has no shame, using his ability to cheat like that! But it's okay, because I will still win the challenge,' Layla thought, feeling slightly relieved that at least her prize wasn't going to be stolen from her. She wanted to win and make her brother obey one of her wishes.
So, she kept swimming as hard as she could until finally reaching the beach once more.

She touched the wet sand and stood up, gasping for air, her chest heaving as she tried to catch her breath. Her heart was pounding wildly inside her ribcage, her body trembling from exhaustion.
She looked behind her and saw that Lucifer had arrived shortly after her and was now getting out of the water, looking like a male model posing for a photo shoot, which contrasted with how tired she felt right now.
"Damn you... Lucifer..." Layla said between gasps. "You really know... how to make... things difficult... For everyone..."
"Hehe... What can I say, dear sister?" Lucifer chuckled and approached Layla. He then leaned forward, placing a hand on her cheek and smiling. "I couldn't resist having some fun with this race. Besides, you are still the first-place winner, so there is no need to worry."
"Whatever..." She muttered, still panting heavily as she tried to compose herself.
As they spoke, the others arrived one after the other. First was James, who managed to surpass Jack at the very end and secure third place, leaving the latter with fourth place.
This result made Jack angry and frustrated. He cursed under his breath, glaring at Lucifer as if he had committed a grave sin. Because of Lucifer's actions, Jack ended up wasting his energy in a futile attempt to win and ended up losing third place to James.
Then Nathan came in fifth place, followed by Eva, Madison, and Zoe, who arrived last and seemed to be the most tired among the group. Their bodies were exhausted, and they were gasping for air as well. However, despite being so worn out, they all looked satisfied with their efforts.
After everyone recovered enough to speak, Ethan approached the group with a big smile on his face. "Great race, guys. It was pretty close, and I think the result would have been very different without Lucifer's participation."
The young man then looked at Lucifer with an admiring gaze, "But damn, Lucifer, you're a freaking beast! You didn't even try at the start and still managed to overtake everyone and finish in second place! If you had gone from the start at the speed you did in the end, I bet you could have won easily."
"Hahaha, what's the fun in winning like that, Ethan?" Lucifer laughed, "Where is the thrill? I like to challenge myself to do things that seem impossible. And if I had won like that, it would have taken away all the fun."
