Chapter 12: Chapter 11: Madara Is In A Good Mood!
Madara turned his attention back to the terrified Nanako. "Who sealed Sukuna inside him?"
"N-No! Nobody sealed him!" Nanako blurted out quickly, eager to cooperate now. "From what we know, Itadori didn't have any cursed energy at first. He just… swallowed one of Sukuna's fingers. Willingly! That's how Sukuna's soul ended up inside him. But Itadori can suppress him, keep him from taking control most of the time. Unless… unless he swallows multiple fingers at once. Then Sukuna can force his way out for a short while."
"And how many of these fingers are there in total?" Madara asked, his interest piqued. 'No cursed energy at first, but gained it from a finger?' he thought, looking at the grotesque object in his hand.
'If I swallowed this, could I gain this 'cursed energy' too? That could open up entirely new possibilities for my power…' His mind raced ahead, considering the implications.
"Twenty! There are twenty fingers total!" Nanako answered quickly, her worried eyes darting towards Mimiko. "Itadori has already eaten four, so there are sixteen left out there somewhere!"
"Twenty…" Madara murmured, examining the finger more closely. He still couldn't sense anything like chakra from it, but there was an undeniable dark, ominous feeling clinging to it, a wrongness that anyone would instinctively recognize.
"So, if I swallow this one, like the boy did… will this Sukuna try to possess me too?"
"I… I don't know about Sukuna's soul!" Nanako admitted honestly. "But swallowing a finger will give you cursed energy, I'm sure of it! Even though… I can't sense any cursed energy from you at all right now." She couldn't wrap her head around it.
This man fought without cursed energy, seeming almost inhumanly strong, maybe like someone with a Heavenly Restriction?
But he didn't feel like that either. He felt… dead, yet overwhelmingly powerful. And the idea of him casually considering swallowing a Cursed Object like Sukuna's finger… It was insane.
That fear was why she was answering everything; she had no doubt he would kill them both instantly if she didn't.
Getting Master Geto's body back could wait. Survival was the priority. She briefly considered asking this terrifying man for help, but dismissed the idea immediately. He seemed like the type who would take everything he wanted and then kill you anyway.
While she would think that she wasn't far off from the actual fact.
"Good. That's how you answer questions," Madara said, a hint of satisfaction in his voice. He had the basic information he needed to start forming a plan. The idea of swallowing the finger lingered.
'Would it even affect this Edo Tensei body? Probably not like it affects a living person. But in this strange world, relying only on my old knowledge would be foolish. It's worth considering.'
"I-If you have your answers… p-please… let Mimiko go," Nanako pleaded, seeing Madara lost in thought. "Let us leave. You can keep the finger!"
Madara snapped back to the present. "Who said anything about letting you go?" he stated flatly.
Then, a slight shift in his tone.
"I only said you needed to answer if you didn't want your friend dead immediately. However…" He paused.
"The information was useful. I'm in a… decent mood. So, I'll make an exception this time." He abruptly loosened his grip on Mimiko's throat and pushed her towards Nanako.
Mimiko stumbled into her sister's arms, gasping desperately for air.
"Now, get lost," Madara commanded, turning away from them and gesturing dismissively towards the corridor. "Before I change my mind." He started walking towards Yuji.
….
Madara glanced down at the Sukuna finger still in his hand. 'Giving me cursed energy, hmm? Interesting potential.' He pocketed it for now. Swallowing it could wait; the waking boy was the immediate priority.
He approached Yuji slowly. While the encounter with the girls hadn't been planned, the intelligence gained was invaluable.
Yuji Itadori, the vessel for this 'King of Curses'… he was clearly central to whatever was happening here. Much like a Jinchuriki in his own world, his existence was likely a major point of conflict.
"Ugh… where… where am I?" Yuji groaned, slowly pushing himself up. He tried to rub his eyes, but his vision was blurred by dried blood.
"Did… did I win?" His body ached all over, nowhere near peak condition, but the sharp, debilitating pain from Choso's attack, especially the hit to his liver, was gone. He felt… surprisingly okay, considering. He was alive.
Yuji cautiously pressed his hands against his sides and chest, checking the spots where Choso had hit him hardest.
Surprisingly, the worst of the pain was gone. The deep injuries felt… mostly healed, though not completely closed.
He knew Sukuna wouldn't heal him unless there was something in it for the curse, and the only person he knew who could use the Reverse Cursed Technique, Shoko Ieiri, was definitely not here.
'So who healed me?' Yuji wondered, confusion mixing with lingering pain. 'Sukuna wouldn't do it. No other sorcerers were around… So who…?'
"I wouldn't call what you did 'winning'," a calm, deep voice cut through his thoughts. Yuji instantly tensed, pushing cursed energy through his body, readying himself.
"But you survived," the voice continued. "Surprising, given your opponent was clearly stronger."
"You shouldn't push yourself yet," the man standing nearby advised. Madara stood casually, completely unguarded, as if Yuji posed no threat at all.
"Your wounds aren't fully closed. I handled the worst of it, especially the damage to your torso, but rest is advisable."
"You… you healed me?" Yuji asked, still wary, trying to get a proper look at the speaker.
"Yes, I did," Madara confirmed, his crimson eyes, marked with three spinning tomoe, observing Yuji impassively. "Did you think someone else stopped by?"
"Are you a sorcerer?" Yuji asked, glancing around. They were still in the ruined bathroom area where Choso had cornered him. He needed to know if this stranger was a friend or foe. "From Kyoto High?"
"No," Madara replied simply. "I'm not from Kyoto, or anywhere else around here, for that matter. I simply… appeared here, amidst the fighting. I don't even know where 'here' is yet."
Hearing the 'no', Yuji's suspicion flared again. As his vision finally cleared completely from the blood and dizziness, he got his first proper look at the man who claimed to have saved him.
….
