Mahoraga in Lord of the Mysteries

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: To the source!

"I'll do you one better, what are you?" Mahoraga questioned back.

"I am Ult-" the metallic creature paused for a moment, then fell silent.

Mahoraga instantly sensed it. The brief influence of an outside force, and he instantly turned in that direction; a solid, massive planet deep within the endless cosmos. The planet was shrouded in layers of ever-changing white mist, the size and state of the dense white mist was indescribable.

Yet, it had formed a connection with this metallic creature… and was using it as… "Yet another puppet…"

Mahoraga frowned, but did not immediately take action. Instead, he swatted the creature into nothingness, only for his attack to be absorbed without much issue.

Although Mahoraga had used little strength, it was still enough to crush anything below those disembodied beings, and this puppet was far weaker, causing his eyes to regain a glint of interest as a new helm appeared above his head.

The metallic being also realised Mahoraga was adapting, as he could see the golden helm rotating above the creatures head as he launched yet another fruitless attack. Realising this fact, the metallic being raised both hands, releasing a small speck of light, almost like dust but emanating incredible amounts of energy.

Such energy was something Mahoraga had never seen before. And yet, he could only grin as he did not more, and took the attack head-on.

There was no sound in space, but the blinding light from the explosion caused the light from the blue star at the centre of the star-system to look like a firefly in front of floodlights.

The explosion did not affect the metallic being as its entire body was made of special absorbent metal, however Mahoraga did not fare much worse.

The explosion took a chunk of his abdomen, as it was not a special kind of attack, or using Beyonder abilities, but rather a purely physical explosive force. Thankfully, he rapidly adapted to the intense heat, and his body naturally healed from the explosion within seconds as well.

As the glaring white light from the spherical explosion had yet to dissipate to the surrounding space, a white fist bathed in the burning light connected solidly with the head of the metallic being, only for the fist to come to a complete stop.

However, Mahoraga did not give up and continued to rain as many punched as he could before the metallic being launched its next attack, which it did before the 6th consecutive punch connected, bringing the helm only one-eighth of a rotation away from completing the full circle.

The metallic being shoved it's had into its chest, the armour plate making way for the hand, before it pulled out a glowing orb of white mist. It was not an energy source like the metallic puppet had used before, but rather something… of supernatural origin.

Mahoraga, who excitement had risen due to the first attack of the creature, found himself disappointed as he snapped his fingers and the white mist was erased from existence. Of course, he continued with another punch to the creature, and after the golden helm merged with the countless half-completed others, he gained the ability to inflict injuries on the metal.

Somehow though, the metal puppet was not disturbed by the fact that its attack had failed, and instead, it continued with a flurry of different attacks, some even coming from the planet itself as it tried to flee.

"You think distance will save you? Foolish!" Mahoraga bellowed in the vacuum of space as his speed increased beyond that of the metallic being, reaching in front of it and punching straight for its chest.

Not sound came from the collision, but the metallic creature simply vanished, reduced to atoms, and then further as a wave of molten nuclear fission occurred instantly from the location of the punch, radiating into the vacuum of space until it fizzled out and stopped reacting.

"Now… time for the puppet master~" Mahoraga turned it gaze to the distance.

This time, it did not call for Bethel. He had been transported more than enough times for his body to adapt to that method, and he simply reversed the adaptation until he could perform it himself, as space twisted around him and he was spiralled into a single point before vanishing.

Bethel, observing everything from a safe distance frowned before initiating the teleport back to Earth. This was a grave matter. The creature no longer needed him… and…

Just as he was about to vanished, he caught sight of the two planets of the advanced civilisation he had had many not-so-pleasant encounters with. Just like the metallic contract, these two planets were also reduced to atoms before they fizzled out into nuclear fission. The creature had dealt with them so easily as well… They needed Great Old Ones of their own as soon as possible.

Despite not wanting the title too much, Bethel decided it was too late to wait for the plans of the True Gods to be set into motion. He would take the title as Lord of Mysteries within the year by completing all necessary plans himself.

With a unifying authority as Lord of Mysteries, he could them help the other Great Old Ones form and unsealing the different Sefirots needed for it.

"And Amon… you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why… Mr. Door is coming… to town~" Bethel hummed in his mind as he was stretched into spaghetti to travel through space at a speed faster than light.
