Chapter 33: King's Move
Alexander sat in his private study, swirling a glass of whiskey in his hand.
His expression was calm—too calm.
Frederick stood before him, waiting for instructions.
Alexander placed his glass down and spoke in a low, commanding tone.
"Buy the hospital."
Frederick's eyebrows twitched slightly, but he didn't hesitate.
"Yes, sir."
"And," Alexander continued, his voice laced with quiet authority, "move Joanne's mother to the VIP floor. I want her under the best care possible."
Frederick nodded. "Understood."
Alexander leaned back in his chair.
"As for the medical team… handpick a group of specialists. I want only my people treating her. No one else gets near Linda Baker without my approval."
Frederick's lips curled slightly.
It wasn't just about helping Joanne's mother.
It was about sending a message.
Charles Baker thought he had control.
He was about to learn otherwise.
The next morning, the hospital board members received shocking news.
King Multinational had purchased the hospital.
And effective immediately, Linda Baker was transferred to the VIP floor, where only the wealthiest and most influential patients were treated.
She now had a private team of specialists.
State-of-the-art equipment.
The kind of luxury medical care that only billionaires could afford.
It was clear to everyone—
Someone very powerful was protecting this woman.
Joanne arrived at the hospital, her thoughts still tangled from her confrontation with Alexander.
She had planned to negotiate with her father.
Try to find a way to fix things before they escalated.
But the moment she stepped into the hospital lobby, she sensed something was off.
Nurses and staff were whispering.
Security presence had increased.
And when she reached her mother's room—it was empty.
Joanne's heart stopped.
"Where is she?!" she demanded.
A nurse quickly reassured her. "Mrs. King, please don't worry. Your mother has been moved to the VIP floor."
Joanne blinked.
"What?"
"The hospital was purchased by a new owner last night," the nurse explained. "Your mother was personally transferred to receive elite care."
Joanne's mind spun.
A new owner?
Elite care?
Who could that be .
There was only one person that comes to mind .
Her eyes widened, could it be.....
Alexander.
That evening, When Joanne went back home, she walked in, her heart beating.
She asked of Alexander but was told he was in his study.
She found Alexander in his study, casually going through documents.
He barely glanced up when she entered.
"Can I talk to you," She asked after a long silent.
"Sure," he replied still looking at what he was doing.
"You bought the hospital," Joanne accused.
Alexander didn't deny it.
He simply set his papers down and looked at her with an unreadable expression.
"Yes."
Joanne's hands trembled.
"You didn't even ask me!"
Alexander raised a brow. "Why would I need to?"
Joanne took a deep breath, trying to steady herself.
"I was handling it."
Alexander smirked. "No, you were struggling with it."
Her eyes widened. "That's not—"
"You thought you could reason with a man like Charles Baker?" Alexander cut in smoothly. "He's not someone you negotiate with, Joanne. He's someone you crush."
Joanne felt a chill run through her.
"Thank you," she said.
He looked at her, "You're welcome," he said with a small smirk at the corner of his lips barely visible to the eye.
She had always known Alexander was powerful.
But at this moment…
She realized just how ruthless he could be. But all he did was for her.
Charles received the news at his office.
At first, he didn't believe it.
Then, when his hospital contacts confirmed it, his face twisted in rage.
King Multinational had bought the hospital.
And his control over Linda Baker?
Gone.
His entire plan had crumbled overnight.
Charles slammed his fist against his desk.
That Devil Alexander!
he had destroyed his leverage.
Charles clenched his jaw.
This wasn't over.
Not yet.
He will keep trying .
