Married to the Secret Stanger

Chapter 47: You we're drugged

Joanne took another sip of the tea, trying to ignore the heavy silence between her and Alexander.

Her mind was still foggy, but at least the headache was starting to ease.

Just as she was about to set the cup down, Alexander's voice broke the quiet.

"You we're drugged last night."

Joanne blinked, looking up at him.

"What?"

'' I...was drugged by whom." She said with a shaky voice.

''We found that it was Sophia, and she paid someone to molest you and take pictures." He told her.

Joanne's heart stopped for a moment.

Sophia tried to harm her what for.

Joanne thought in her head.

Alexander leaned forward slightly, his lips curving into a smirk.

"Getting drugged.… throwing yourself at me…" he mused, his tone casual yet laced with something unreadable. "I didn't know you were that bold, Joanne."

Joanne froze.

Her eyes widened in shock.

Her cheeks instantly turned red.

"What…?" she whispered, her heart hammering. "I… I did what?!"

Alexander simply watched her.

His dark eyes glinted with amusement, but his expression remained calm, unreadable.

Joanne grabbed the blanket, clutching it against herself.

No.

That couldn't be true!

Could it?

Had she really—

Alexander let out a deep, rich laugh.

Joanne's face turned even redder.

"I-I didn't—" she started, but the way he was looking at her made her words die in her throat.

He was enjoying this.

Too much.

"Don't overthink it," he said smoothly, liveing the room in his wheelchair. "Get ready and come downstairs for breakfast."

Then, without waiting for a response, he turned and wheeled himself out of the room.

Joanne sat frozen for a moment, her mind an absolute mess.

Did she really…?

No. No way.

She buried her face in her hands.

"This is a nightmare," she muttered.

By the time she finally made it down to the dining room, her nerves were still unsettled.

She spotted Alexander at the head of the table, sipping his coffee like nothing had happened.

Joanne swallowed hard.

She couldn't even look at him.

She sat down across from him, keeping her eyes glued to her plate.

Alexander didn't say a word.

But she could feel his gaze on her.

Her fingers tightened around her fork.

She was going to die from embarrassment.

And the worst part?

She still didn't remember what had happened last night.
