Married to the Secret Stanger

Chapter 55: Sophia’s Bold Move

Sophia walked into King Multinational's executive floor like she owned the place.

Her heels clicked against the marble floor, turning heads as employees whispered among themselves.

Everyone knows about Joanne Baker, Alexander's wife.

But then why is Sophia Baker, her stepsister suddenly here?

Sophia smirked, pleased by the attention.

This was exactly what she wanted.

She wanted people to talk.

To wonder.

To plant the seed of doubt.

Frederick knocked once before stepping inside Alexander's office.

"Boss, Sophia Baker is here."

Alexander didn't even look up.

He continued reading through a document, his expression unreadable.

"And?" he said, voice calm but cold.

Frederick hesitated before adding, "She's been assigned to the charity initiative under King Multinational. She's here to introduce herself."

Alexander finally looked up.

His dark gaze sharpened.

Sophia Baker?

Interesting.

"Let her in."

Sophia stepped into his office with confidence, flashing him her most charming smile.

"Mr. King," she greeted, "Or should i say brother-in-law" her voice silky smooth.

Alexander leaned back in his chair, watching her.

There was no warmth in his gaze.

No interest.

Just cold, calculated dominance.

Sophia's smile faltered for a split second before she recovered.

"I look forward to working with you," she continued, extending a hand.

Alexander didn't shake it.

Instead, he tilted his head slightly, studying her like she was a chess piece he was about to crush.

"You joined my company's charity initiative?" he finally said, voice slow and deliberate.

Sophia nodded, flipping her hair casually. "I want to make a difference."

A sharp chuckle escaped Alexander.

Sophia stiffened.

Why was he laughing?

He rested his elbows on the desk, lacing his fingers together.

"I know exactly what you want, Sophia."

Sophia's breath hitched slightly, but she quickly masked it with another fake smile.

"I don't know what you mean—"

"Then let me make it clear."

His voice dropped dangerously low.

"If you think working here will give you a chance with me, you're making the worst mistake of your life."

Sophia swallowed hard.

Alexander's presence was suffocating, his words like ice-cold daggers.

But she wasn't going to back down.

Not yet.

She smiled sweetly instead.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Mr. King," she said innocently.

Alexander didn't blink.

"Good."

His tone was final.

Dismissive.

Like she was nothing.

Sophia's nails dug into her palm, but she kept smiling.

This wasn't over.

Not by a long shot.

Meanwhile, at Indigo Design

Joanne couldn't focus.

Her gut told her Sophia wasn't just working at King Multinational for charity.

Something was off.

And she hated it.

She knew she shouldn't care.

But for some reason… she did.
