vol. 1 chapter 2 - Transformed into a Girl
Chu Zhao’s pupils shrank sharply. A searing pain lanced through his neck.
Catherine’s fangs had pierced his skin. Cold blood surged into his veins.
A wave of agony ripped through his body like wildfire. His bones cracked with sickening snaps, and every inch of his flesh twisted and reformed.
He arched backward, a strangled cry escaping his throat—only to be muffled as Catherine held him tightly in her embrace.
“Shhh… Be good, now~”
Her lips brushed his skin, her voice a velvet whisper near his ear.
“It’ll be over soon… and then, you’ll be so adorable.”
Chu Zhao stared in horror at his hands—
His once slender fingers shrank before his eyes.
His skin lost all color, turning porcelain white, almost luminescent.
The thunder runes on his body flickered weakly, then vanished—devoured by the crimson magic coursing through him.
“Ah…!”
He tried to resist—but what escaped his lips was a high-pitched, delicate girl’s voice.
Catherine chuckled softly as she pulled back, brushing sweat-drenched silver strands from his brow.
The proud young warrior was gone.
In his place lay a petite girl, curled in her arms—slim, fragile, with silvery-white hair cascading like moonlight, and glowing crimson eyes that shimmered with humiliation.
His former battle garb hung loosely on her small frame, baring slender collarbones and pale wrists.
“Perfect.”
Catherine took the girl’s chin, turning her toward the full-length mirror.
Reflected there was no longer the fierce Martial Emperor of Blue Star.
But a silver-haired, red-eyed young girl, trembling, tears of shame welling in her eyes.
“Do you like your new look, my darling~?”
Catherine pressed her cool lips to the tip of her ear, whispering:
“From now on, forget that boring old name.”
Her finger traced the girl’s delicate neck, leaving a line of blood at the collarbone—then slowly licked it away.
“Degrienne Lilith. That’s what you’re called now.”
Her crimson eyes shimmered with dark delight.
“Sharing my surname—what an honor, isn’t it~?”
The girl in the mirror—Degrienne—quivered and tried to turn away, but Catherine held her jaw firmly in place.
“Remember this moment well. It’s the day of your rebirth.”
Her body convulsed in aftershock. The pain of transformation still echoed through her limbs, leaving her trembling in Catherine’s arms.
The vampire princess savored the sight with wicked glee—until—
“Ugh…!”
Suddenly, Degrienne thrashed violently, eyes blazing with fury.
“You… You turned me into this…”
Her voice, soft and childish, trembled with killing intent.
“Give me a chance… and I’ll rip out your fangs myself!”
Catherine laughed behind her hand, the sound like silver bells—chilling and surreal in the vast, cold castle.
“Degrienne~”
Her crimson pupils sparkled with delight as she stroked the girl’s burning cheek.
“You’re adorable when you’re angry…”
She leaned forward, her shadow swallowing Degrienne whole.
“Yes… that glare… so full of defiance… yet so helpless…”
Her fingers brushed the girl’s quivering eyelids.
“This is exactly why you’re worthy of the name Lilith.”
With a soft hum, she dragged her nail across her own wrist—blood welled up in thick, crimson beads.
She offered the bleeding wrist to Degrienne, voice gentle but commanding:
“Drink. This is the feast that awaits you now.”
Degrienne turned her head sharply and spat.
“Tch!”
“I’d rather starve than drink the blood of monsters like you.”
“Still so stubborn…”
A dangerous glint flickered in Catherine’s eyes.
Without warning, she bit deeper into her wrist. Blood gushed forth.
Before Degrienne could react, Catherine seized the back of her head and pressed the bleeding wrist to her lips.
“If you won’t drink willingly…”
“Then I’ll help you~”
“Nngh…!”
Degrienne struggled wildly, but Catherine clamped her nose shut.
Lacking air, instinct forced her ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ to open her mouth—and the metallic sweetness of blood flooded in.
She coughed and choked, but swallowed more than she could resist.
Catherine’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction. She leaned in, licking the blood from Degrienne’s lips.
“What a pity… You couldn’t even reject me properly.”
Her voice dripped with manic joy.
“Do you see now? You’re no longer human. You’re one of us—the filthy bloodkin you used to despise.”
Degrienne panted hard, her red eyes blazing with fury.
“Even if my body has changed…”
She clutched at her chest.
“As long as my heart remains human, I’ll never be one of you beasts!”
“Heh…”
Catherine laughed—a low, musical sound that sent a chill down Degrienne’s spine.
“Still clinging to those petty divisions?”
She gently tugged open Degrienne’s collar.
“Let’s run a little experiment…”
Suddenly, Degrienne’s heart skipped a beat.
She felt like thorns were growing through her veins.
Her vision narrowed on Catherine’s palm—where a glowing sphere of blood pulsed and shimmered.
“Look. This is your essence.”
Catherine lifted the orb closer.
Within it—clearly visible—was the outline of a heart. Each beat radiated the unmistakable aura of a pureblood vampire.
But then something more terrifying happened.
Catherine raised her own bloodlight next to it.
The two hearts began to pulse in unison.
Perfectly synchronized.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” Catherine sighed in delight. She stroked Degrienne’s cold, pale cheek.
“From the inside out, you're already one of us.”
Degrienne reflexively touched her chest.
Beneath the skin, her heart beat—echoing Catherine’s exactly.
She trembled.
“You’re insane…”
Her voice came through clenched teeth.
“Completely. Irredeemably. Insane.”
Catherine only smiled, eyes half-lidded in pleasure.
Her tongue flicked over one fang.
“Insane?” she chuckled.
Then, with no warning, she pushed Degrienne onto the velvet bed.
“That’s the sweetest compliment I’ve heard in three thousand years.”
Before the words finished, her fangs sank into Degrienne’s neck.
“Aagh—!”
Pain shot through Degrienne’s tiny frame. Her nails dug into Catherine’s arm.
But then—
That pain dulled. A tingling numbness spread with the vampire’s saliva.
She gasped in horror as her body slowly relaxed—betraying her will.
Her head tilted, baring more of her neck without her consent.
“Mmm… so delicious…”
Catherine’s breath quickened. A flush crept across her pale cheeks.
For the first time in centuries, her dignified voice trembled.
“Degrienne’s blood… it’s exquisite…”
She drank greedily, sighing like a sommelier savoring a once-in-a-lifetime vintage.
Degrienne’s vision blurred. Her hands stopped pushing—turned to weak grasping.
Her angry curses faded to broken breaths.
When Catherine finally pulled away, crimson still wet on her lips, she looked utterly sated.
She gently licked the wounds on Degrienne’s neck, watching them heal in seconds.
“Such a taste…”
She cradled the girl against her, fingers caressing her flushed cheeks.
“I’ll have to enjoy you like this… every day.”
Snapping her fingers, she opened a wardrobe filled with elegant, luxurious dresses.
“My dear Degrienne, we can’t have you looking so messy.”
She moved behind the girl, combing her silver hair with cold fingers.
“In two weeks, there’s a noble’s banquet…”
Her voice dropped to a sultry whisper:
“With a pet as cute as you by my side, I’ll be the envy of the night.”
Catherine glided to the wardrobe, eyes sparkling as she selected gowns.
Suddenly—a black bat flapped through the window and landed on her finger.
It squeaked—a high-pitched signal. A summons from the palace.
“Tch.”
Catherine’s brow furrowed. Irritation flickered in her crimson gaze.
“Of all times…”
She had just begun to enjoy her little game.
The bat squeaked again, then fluttered off into the night.
Catherine knew she couldn’t ignore this call—not after the collapse of the interworld portal.
“What a mood-killer.”
She clicked her tongue and turned to Degrienne.
“Pick something nice to wear. I want you dressed up when I return.”
At the door, she paused.
“And if you haven’t decided…”
A dangerous smile played on her lips.
“Disobedient pets will be punished~”
Then, with a swirl of dark red mist, she vanished.
Leaving Degrienne alone.
Alone with a closet full of frills—and a threat hanging over her head.
She gritted her teeth and pushed herself up with trembling hands.
Silver hair spilled messily over her shoulders, her red eyes smoldering with fury.
She tried to stand, but her knees gave way—dropping her back onto the bed.
Clenching the sheets in tiny fists, she growled:
“Catherine… I will kill you…”
Her crimson pupils trembled. Tiny fangs bit into her lip.
“Once I get my power back… I’ll make you pay in blood!”
